As You Like It
As You Like It
Our ‘buoyant and embracive’ (★★★★ The Stage) production from 2018 returns to the Globe Theatre this summer.
A firm favourite among Shakespeare’s comedies and featuring some of his best-loved characters, As You Like It runs the glorious gamut of pastoral romance. A series of mistaken identities and mishaps in the Forest of Arden ultimately sees new friendships formed, and families and lovers reunited.

Such a beautiful production. Amazing performances from a talented and charismatic cast, and fabulous music from the band. I loved the BSL elements. Sophie Stone’s “all the worlds a stage” Jaques monologue was stand out. She performed with such truth and melancholy, it was incredibly moving.

Loved it! Really felt a part of the story. Kept the true heart of Shakespeare; pushing boundaries & providing theatre for all.

We thoroughly enjoyed the play. Jack Lasky was fantastic and his verbal and body language was hilarious. James Garnon was also excellent. The vitality of the actors brought the comedy to life with plenty of interaction with the audience. My first play at the Globe and it will not be my last.

Wonderful evening watching As You Like It. The performance, the venue, and most certainly the performers made for an evening of joy and pleasure for all. Though next time I will purchase a seat, for standing for duration at my age was a test of endurance.

Overall, quite enjoyed the experience seeing a Shakespeare play in the Globe Theatre. As You Like It - a few twists which were fine and on the side of humorous (Rosalind played by a male actor, Orlando was played by an actress.). But far too many gimmicks. Too much of a contrast between those who could act and those less experienced. Rosalind was fabulous as was Touchstone, both RADA trained and it showed. Some really need to pronounce their words better, there was too much garbling if the lovely words by some (Phoebe for one). Set design - what set design? Only two elements stand out - the deer and elevation of the singer (sorry, didn’t like her singing, was off). However the audience was appreciative and we got caught up with that interaction.

Love The Globe and everything about it. Not 100% sure about this performance of As You Like It. The acting was fine except some of the speech seemed a bit rushed. The signed speeches were well acted and integrated but left me a bit confused as to what was going on. The costumes were also a bit confusing, a mix of period and contemporary. The bit I found most difficult was Orlando played by a female and Rosalind played by a male, that just didn't work for me. But overall highly enjoyable and a good effort.

We had some difficulty hearing parts of the dialogue particularly the females and especially the female lead (Orlando) ... she also spoke extremely fast in places. The signing, although obviously inclusive, also made understanding the intricacies of the plot slightly difficult, especially when people on stage blocked our view. The theatre however is a true delight and the above criticism would not stop us going again.

The show kept me entertained for 1 hour 20 minutes. Purchased the standing tickets, at £6 were well worth it.

Audience involvement from the start. We really felt part of the cast, who were all outstanding. Some interesting twists and turns forming this delightful spin on the classic tale. Has to be seen to understand the thought provoking delivery . Bravery, wisdom, humour, love, pain, laughter, togetherness and a little sadness all coming together as a tribute to the man himself . Loved it 🧡 Can also recommend East tower middle tier seats D 68/69. Stage left . Great view.

This show was a delight from beginning to end. I loved the way the show challenged traditional notions of identity. Actors so talented. The costumes were perfect for the show. I had never visited the Reconstructed Globe - highly recommend both a tour and a show. And I very much enjoyed sitting!

As a child I had learnt As you like it in school. The portrayal of characters, the expressions in their eyes, the flow of the play, the character study, brought tears in my eyes! I was glued to them and watching them without batting an eyelid! Couldn't thank the actors more for bringing a memory of those beautiful dialogues I grew up studying!

Love setting and great acting. Must watch. Only thing we were disappointed about was that we couldn’t understand the different accents too well, specially Jacques. Also we had a restricted view seat so couldn’t see when actors were not speaking but only doing actions.
