Peter Pan
Peter Pan
Escape to Never Land all over again!
Packed with enough puppetry and theatrical magic to enthrall audiences young and old, the enchanting Regent’s Park production of Peter Pan is back.
Imagination is the only escape for the wounded soldiers of World War One. Soon they’re transported to the fantastical lagoons and pirate ships of Never Land. But allegories of the war they’ve tried to leave behind are ever present….
Killed in action in 1915, George Llewelyn Davis was one of the children who inspired J. M. Barrie to write Peter Pan. Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel’s rendition of the iconic story remembers Davis and a generation of Lost Boys. This “stunning, moving, definitive production is not to be missed” (Time Out).

WEATHER
Every theatre performance is unique, but this is especially the case at the Open Air Theatre where both the stage and entire auditorium are uncovered.
Each visit can be distinctly different as the weather and light spontaneously interact with the play. Warm or cool, clear or overcast, the point at which dusk turns to night, being outdoors adds a thrilling contribution to our work and is an integral part of your experience here. Some of our audience's favourite memories have been of the sun breaking through the clouds during the show whilst some of the most electric performances happen in the wake of rainfall.
It's best to come prepared for all types of weather: bringing your own shade in the afternoon is particularly important as is a jumper for the end of evening performances. So sun hats, sun cream, sunglasses, raincoats and rain hats should all be considered. Although the vast majority of performances are completed each year, as the auditorium and stage are completely uncovered, we may have to stop and re-start the show.
On rare occasions, it will not be possible for us to complete the performance, but we will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time. This is because you would be amazed how often it can rain all day and then clear up just in time for the action to start and indeed, how localised bad weather can be. Also we really don't want to disappoint anyone - audiences or our actors (who are always keen to perform, if at all possible).
Please note that films and one-off live music and comedy shows are never cancelled because of the weather.

Peter Pan was a joy to attend. Enthusiastic actors, sophisticated set design, and brilliant choreography all blended together to create quite the experience, bringing up a great deal of nostalgia for who I'm sure was most of the audience.

This was a very unique interpretation of the old children’s favourite Peter Pan. The First World War parallels were very moving and added a whole extra dimension to the story. The staging was ambitious and innovative. The technical skills of both performers and stage crew should be applauded. A play not to be missed.

This was a very clever adaption to suit the anniversary of 100 years since WW1. Those dressed in army uniforms as 'helpers' throughout was a powerful analogy. The sweet song of the mother figure throughout was also a powerful and poignant thread. The "flying" was brilliantly done. The way the animals was produced was as clever and evocative as those in the Lion King production. The set was magnificent and leant itself to underwater scenes, a ship and a crocodile with seeming ease. The actors were superb. Very well done. I was incredibly moved by this adaption.

My almost 8 yrs old daughter and I really enjoyed our evening in this amazing venue, surrounded by nature, to watch an absolutely amazing rendition of Peter Pan with a hint of novelty given by the unusual historical setting. The performance of Elisa de Grey, amongst the other brilliant actors, was great, particularly appreciated by the kids in the audience. Bravo!

The staging was brilliant but the World War 1 theme, especially the opening scene with a wounded, bleeding soldier crying out, was totally unsuitable for the audience of very young children at the matinee with me. In general children should have a chance to see the classics as classics before they are expected to appreciate the "clever" twists put on them.

A fantastically funny clever performance of Peter Pan. I took my 7 year old boy who loved it. Initially I thought he may be too young but he is a mature 7 year and has enjoyed lots of theatre in the past. The stage, props and costumes were incredible, I feel lucky to live in London and have brilliant theatre on my door step!!!
