Nutcracker
Nutcracker
Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker returns to the London Coliseum this December in another bewitching production by the English National Ballet.
It’s Christmas Eve in Edwardian London and Clara is playing with her enchanted nutcracker doll. Together, Clara and her brave Nutcracker discover an incredible world where they meet a handsome stranger and battle the evil Mouse King. As the snow begins to fall, Clara and Nutcracker take a hot air balloon across London to the spectacular Land of Snow.
Featuring an extraordinary cast of over 100 world-class dancers and musicians, the choreography, score and sets of this quintessential Christmas ballet will truly transport you.
Hailed as one of the best productions of The Nutcracker yet, don’t miss your chance to see this festive treat at one of the West End’s most iconic venues.

Absolutely incredible performance. Its definitely worth reading the story of the Nutcracker, if you are unfamiliar, prior to the show as I did get a little lost a few times. Amazing talents and the perfect show!

Sadly we found the interpretation of the story line more confusing than it already is. It seemed to showcase 'bits' of the tale. I also thought the stage dressing lacked the richness of other productions. Dancing in the second act was beautiful.

It was a lovely production of this ballet. As we saw one of the final performances, everything seemed to fall into place as might be expected - the band(sorry - orchestra) was good, main characters were good, corps de ballet obviously well rehearsed. Front of house well set up. In fact no complaints. The only thought from my husband - how on earth do you quickly clear the theatre with that crush of people!

The ballet was excellent. Very well danced and presented. Wonderful costumes and scenery. The only minor downsides to the evening was the disorganised queue for drinks strung out across the foyer so that everybody had to push through it to get towards their seats. It would have been better if the drinks trolly had been turned through right angles so that an orderly queue would have formed close against the wall out of the way. I'm told the disabled toilet was out of order in the female toilets. All told avery enjoyable evening at a great venue and ballet.

My first ballet and it won’t be my last. I was absolutely enthralled with the Nutcracker Ballet. The scenery, lighting, costumes and dancers were really amazing. The time passes so quickly. Would definitely see this particular show again. Was quite emotional when the couple danced just before the Sugar Plum Fairy came on. She was captivating too! Would highly recommend this ballet. Also loved the Coliseum Theatre too and the ballet shoe tree in the foyer. A magical experience all round!

This is my absolute favourite ballet show, and I only watched it in Hungary before - where I am originally from. It was a pleasure to be a part of this in the UK, in London as well! The lights, the decoration and the timing was perfect! The dresses and the dancers were amazing as well - we did recognise some smaller mistakes in the dance, but it didn’t ruin anything - we all know how hard ballet is! The orchestra played beautifully, I was amazed by the music! I loved the “fake snow”, the ice skating scene and literally everything, seriously!

It was enjoyable although the dancers were not always in time with each other and sometimes they were a little clumsy.

An exquisite performance, better than all those seen before. The scenes and changeovers immaculate. A new slant on the festive season was brilliantly brought about. To be able to seamlessly move from one display to another was astonishing.

It was my birthday treat. We stayed in London for the night. I love chaikovsky and I come to see Nutcracker every yearea. This year it fell on my actual birthday. We sat in the stalls in the first row over the orchestra pit. We stayed in lLondon overnight. My only disappointment was that I wanted the orchestra to play Happy birthday to me.

The ENB and their performance of the Nutcracker at the London Collosium was as usual truly amazing and spectacular. Never fails to get the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. A Christmas cracker that really surprises and pleases and wraps you in the warm glow it generates. Just a shame it comes to a finish and you end up back in the reality that is life today. Marvellous!!!!!!

Very enjoyable version of the nutcracker. Almost without doubt the second act in the land of sweets is the most enjoyable but found this a little underwhelming (and lacking in sweets) Clara doing the dance of the sugar plum fairy and not the sugar plum fairy..... which is I have just read sometimes done. But I missed seeing another prima ballerina doing her thing. Saying that Clara was brilliant and sh3 must be exhausted after doing all those amazing dances!

The performance was awesome. When the final curtain came down I had to check the time. Believing we had been short changed but it was just we were enjoying the performance so much. The time had just evaporated into smiles on everyone one around us. I heard one lady tell her partner she had tears of joy in her eyes when it finished. My first ballet at 53 but not my last. Thank you.

The Nutcracker takes you back to the world of dreams in cozy winters nights, the story unfolds in the first half and the dancing mesmerizes you in the second half. Very well sequenced plays, so glad not to have missed it this season.

A really wonderful performance - the sets, the costumes and of course the dancers were all superb. A couple of tiny moves which were out of timings with the two main female dancers of the chorus but otherwise perfect precision. The two leads Clara and her Prince were wonderful.

We weren't allowed in as I had my 3 yr old with me. I understand the reasoning completely behind it but didn't see it written in the blurb. So just to warn others. I'm sure the performance was great, just a shame as my boy was really disappointed.

Very conventional and traditional sets and choreography, and none the worse for that. The quality of dancing was excellent throughout with a particularly strong corps. In terms of plot interpretation I felt the battle between mice and the toy soldiers was a little confused and lacked impact, but otherwise it was an excellent performance in all regards, with some truly gifted and outstanding dancing during the second act. It was a delightful final scene when the young Clara wakes in her bed, simultaneously with the end of the final dance between the older Clara and her Soldier Prince, and we realise that in this production 'The Land of Sweets' had been dreamt by Clara.
