Sh*t-faced Shakespeare : A Midsummer Night's Dream
Sh*t-faced Shakespeare : A Midsummer Night's Dream
The legendary Sh*t-faced Shakespeare hits London with its knockout show A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the very first time.
One evening, the cast of A Midsummer Night’s Dream decide to get one of their number incredibly drunk. How better to perform the Shakespearean classic full of shape-shifters and fairies than with a belly full of booze?
Sh*t-faced Shakespeare has taken the US and the UK by storm, performing hundreds of shows and entertaining tens of thousands of theatre-goers with its witty, effervescent and irresistibly ludicrous shows. Now hitting the West End with an all-new production of its original Edinburgh Fringe Festival smash hit, Sh*t-faced Theatre continues to bring Shakespeare to new audiences, offering this greatest of all English playwrights up to theatre-goers in a fun and interactive way.
Playing at the Leicester Square Theatre for seven weeks from April, book your tickets to this hilarious, irreverent and unmissable production today.

Shakespeare is great. Shit faced Shakespeare is better. I was laughing so hard through the whole hour that I just could not stop crying. I have seen it twice and each time it was different. Definitely worth seeing at least once. I for one will be a regular. I cannot recommend a better way to spend an evening.

From start to finish I had tears of laughter! Great improvisation from the actors when it was needed. Everyone was fully immersed and engaging with brilliant, clever wit. Excellent show.

It is what it says on the tin; Shakespeare performed with one actor HEAVILY under the influence of alcohol. It had me in stitches from the very start, with all actors - both drunk and sober - putting on an absolute blinder of a show. The drunkenness succeeded in enhancing the comedy rather from detracting from it, and the improv was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyable and I will be sure to get tickets to the next show these guys put on.

This was my third time seeing this show and I've now seen two actors drunk, this show is so funny and different every time I see it. I leave in stitch after ever performance and would highly recommend this show to anyone, theatre fans or otherwise!

I went to see the 'summer nights dream' performance last night, what a contrived load of crap! Apparently this was supposed to be a comedy, my partner and I barely mustered a giggle between us. Very disappointing. Following the show, I was the one needing to get shitfaced!

Everyone should go and see Sh*tfaced Shakespeare. Fact! It is the perfect combination of classy and chaos, educational and addictive. Like a metaphorical train crash waiting to happen, you can't not look at it. Go and see it, you might not have a clue whats going on, but you will know you're having a bloody good time.

Let's face it we'd all have more fun at work after a solid drinking session. This is what makes the show so fantastic, the actors are having as much fun as the audience. The reactive ad-lib is on point whenever the drunkard strays from their lines, plot or actual stage! A great show at a reasonable price. I really recommend it .

I was recommended shitfaced Shakespeare after a performance at underbelly. I decided to go as my friend from the US was visiting and I thought it was a quintessentially English thing with a twist. The character Helena was the drunkard and she was excellent. She was so funny and had the crowd in stitches! The guys working with her incorporated what she said into their script and this made it even funnier. Well done to all the cast! Can't wait for the next show

Sh*tFaced Shakespeare is billed as a serious production with serious actors performing a Shakespearian Play. The Catch?... One member is actually Drunk! (from 4 hrs of drinking prior to the performance). I like the idea of that. How are those serious Actors going to navigate this hurdle? What kind of Improv skills will they have to employ in order to get through each scene and remain "on track" with the plot? ... In my opinion none. It wasn't Improv as a tool to keep going, it was a competition to see who could be the funniest and in most parts obviously contrived. There was NO "Serious" element at all. even a sober Puck stuffed something long and hard down his pant to get a cheap laugh, then created a wet patch at the end of it in a later scene. If you want toilet humour and silliness? (which I do when i'm told thats what to expect) It's perfect. If you want to watch skilled actors copying with adversity and the unknown element of a drunken co-star, It's not quite that. The Drunken Actor was actually very funny, the others were just messing about. With regards to the Shakespeare involved... a cleverly cut version trimming out some characters to allow a small cast to perform it within an hour or so. The delivery of eligible dialogue? only present in the drunkard, who's inebriation naturally slowed him down and stopped him from rushing all his lines. unlike the others.

I didn't know quite what to expect and hadn't read the bit about 'recommended for over 16s-can be a bit rude' until after I had booked the tickets! It certainly was a bit rude and I was probably the oldest person there (68) and my granddaughter Milly (12) was probably the youngest but we both loved the performance and found it hilarious. Milly told me afterwards that the play made much more sense to her now which was the whole idea of taking her!
