The mind-bending and ingenious The Nether has held audiences and critics alike in its grip and is now set to enthral the West End. Following a sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre The Nether now transfers to London’s Duke of York’s Theatre for a limited run of just twelve weeks.
The all-encompassing virtual world of The Nether offers people the chance to make their dreams a reality, but when Detective Morris discovers a troubling new form of entertainment she begins an investigation that will take her to the blackest recesses of the imagination.

Very well put together and thought out. The subject is obviously quite challenging and there were a few difficult points but it raised some interesting ethical, social and technological questions. The cast were all superb, particularly Ivanhoe Jeremiah (Woodnut). Understudy, Anna Martine, was playing Morris when we went and I didn't think she was as strong. Amazing digital interaction, on a very otherwise simple stage.

It was a surreal experience but then not so surreal after all - given the world we live in today. Who knows what is going on already - after all we have all seen the Matrix. Definitely a different experience and worth the experience. Enjoy!

I was already intrigued about the idea of a virtual reality that could be seen to help those whose pleasures are not accepted. As the play developed, it opened up to more than the initial story. Not only was it a release for one man and his desires but also the desires of two others who's 'perfect world' meant that had changed their sex and age to finally find the love, affection and attention they all craved. Initially you believe virtual reality is a marvellous thing. Everyone is in a state of peace and euphoria. Desires can be explored and no one gets hurt, or do they? There is still room for upset, disappointment and a degree of hurt left in the subconscious. It left my friends and I into a debate wether virtual reality was a good or bad thing. Very well acted and an amazing set that absorbs you into the moment.

This was an intriguing and pertinent play. Excellently executed. There is nothing I can say to criticise this production. The characters were believable, the story scarily believable, especially since I have a teenage son who spends a lot of his time in his own Nether. It provoked several hours of positive discussion between us. The set was apt and very well done. The play was just the right length and kept the audience rapt all the way through
