Legends of stage and screen Patrick Stewart (X-Men) and Sir Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings) return to the West End in Harold Pinter’s comic tour de force No Man’s Land.
First produced over forty years ago, No Man’s Land unites two ageing writers Hirst and Spooner for one night of hard drinking and fast talking. As the alcohol continues to flow and the stories continue to pile up, Hirst and Spooner’s animated discussion takes a darker turn and two menacing younger men turn up to join them.
Following a sold-out run on Broadway, Sean Mathias’ celebrated revival honours Pinter’s unflinching gaze into the void. No Man’s Land delves deep into the Nobel laureate’s favourite themes, such as the frailty of memory and the perennial struggle that is human interaction, but remains vibrant, rich and comic. While other playwrights typically wrestle with these themes in sombre, sententious tones, Pinter’s absurdist masterpiece is funny and clear and is performed to perfection by Stewart and McKellen in this latest, striking production.
Playing at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre from September, No Man’s Land brings together two superstar actors in one extraordinary play. Don’t miss out, book your tickets today.

Fantastic performance by two masters of their craft, supported by two nicely done secondary roles. If you've seen and loved The Dresser, Waiting for Godot, Sleuth, you'll enjoy this!

Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart were incredible as i knew they would be. It was a delight to watch them together on stage. However, i was not a fan of the play itself at all, but ive never really been that much of a Pinter fan! Definitely glad to have gone but if any other actors had been doing it, it would be a very very dull play.

truly amazing - don't understand the play but what a privilege to see McKellan and Stewart - just immerse yourself in their acting and voices

Acting was amazing. Language a little ripe in places. An amusing play at times, a little heavy going and uncomfortable at other times. Preferred the second half to the first half of the production. Set simple but beautiful. Well worth grabbing a ticket if you can. I had wanted to go in September but only managed to get a seat in December. Left wondering if I too am in no man's land.

I very much enjoyed the performance of "No Man's Land" but came away wondering what it all meant. I looked it up only to find that critics have also wondered what it means but there are a lot of themes going on within it. I thought it was playing mind games too. Very intriguing.

A pleasure to witness two of the greats clearly enjoying every scene together in this brilliantly performed show.

Spellbinding performances from Stewart and McKellen, the whole ensemble were superb. The play brought both laughter and pause. I'll be thinking about it for weeks and won't ever forget it.

This production is up there with the best I've seen in my lifetime; the whole cast was excellent but McKellen in particular is a genius - he has the ability to speak a page of script by putting his tongue in his cheek or adding an extra skip as he crosses the stage - he delivers the comedy and the drama like a master.

We paid £131.50 for two seats in D row of the Grand Circle. (Up in the Gods). Unfortunately we couldn't hear Ian McKellan so it was a complete waste of time and money.

As you would expect an absolute masterclass in acting from Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart; however Owen Teale and Damien Molony were also amazingly well cast. Some laughs along the way in what is quite a bleak tale.

This is not my favourite Pinter play by any means but the acting was superb. As you would expect from the two leading actors, they got every nuance, extracted all the comedy from this piece. They were so well supported by Owen Teale and Damien Molony it was a joy to watch. I had a few issues with the lighting at one point but what performances.

All the stars go to Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart. Who are perfection. The play was not eventful. And I'm a fan of Pinter's work, disappointed. It had funny moments but not £180 worth of entertainment. I would regret buying these tickets had it not been for Shit Partick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen. It was an honour to be in the same rooms as them.

Have absolutely no idea what this play is really about, but the acting from all four actors is superb!

Overall the play was very well acted. Our seats were in the balcony and we found it quite difficult to hear what the actors were saying. I would suggest that they perhaps should have had microphones. Maybe seat lower down could hear better?

What could be more magical than seeing these 2 fabulous pros on stage together, and in a play which they clearly relished. The other 2 actors were terrific also. We paid more for these tickets than any other theatre before, and we have an attic full of programmes! But it was an evening not to be missed and will always be remembered. My husband even stopped coughing, having been in bed for 4 days. To see the actors ply their craft, like no others have ever done or will....

I had no idea what no man's land was about as I like to go in to a play blind and not have any expectations and react naturally. Once I knew Stewart and McKellen were together in this production I couldn't resist as they are two of my favourite actors, two giants in the theatrical and film world and they did not disappoint! You can really feel the emotions they portrayed and the humour was very clever. If I had the money I would go again and again, it truly cannot be missed.

A wonderful opportunity to see two absolute masters of their craft at work. They made a large theatre feel intimate - you were drawn in so that the rest of the audience disappeared. The subtlety of their acting is beautiful, so much is conveyed by a simple gesture or movement. The timing is supreme - so important in a Pinter play. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating evening. A real privilege! Thank you

Beautiful acting from two of England's finest last night. The characterisation and mannerisms were honed to imperfection and the whole evening was a performance masterclass.

When I first saw this play about 12 years ago, it appeared mysterious and quite random. This production shone a big bright light on it for me. It brought out the menace in Spooner, Foster and Briggs and the double edge of Hirst. The two legends justified their status, with McKellen bringing Spooner to life with joviality one moment and cold-blooded observation of Hirst crawling through the door the next. Stewart was fantastic in his transformation from a beaten, sozzled Hirst into someone who delivered the amazing speech about the characters' supposed Oxford years in the second half. The two younger characters were brilliantly played by Owen Teale and Damien Molony, who were genuinely creepy and verging on the nasty. Their characters are essential to bringing out the darkness of the situation in the play and underscoring the isolation that Hirst finds himself in. One quibble: the set. I found it too round and bare. It was meant to look like a prison, but a comfortable room in Hampstead would feel a little more... comfortable.

It's worth looking up the plot lines beforehand. It would help to understand what is going on. Acting very good, as you would expect.

Ian McKellan's delivery and timing is unsurpassed. Didn't realise I would laugh so much. A play about getting old and losing our grip.

it is mesmerising and magic to assist to a star performance about fading away, old age, death and life, brought to life by amazing actors in the late part of their life and their careers, whom in private are certainly dealing with similar fears and issues. More then a theatrical lay is a ceremony, a celebration, a rite of exorcism performed by two superb actors that kindly, funnily, tragically introduce, lead us by hand through these difficult issues towards the Great Unknown.

the best actors in a good play. I myself enjoyed watching my favourite actor Ian McKellen but did a wrong thing comparing this play with Waiting for Godot which was absolutely one of the best performances ever in every possible way.

Gripping play, wonderfully acted and beautifully written.

As much as I like these two actors, this was an incredibly boring and pointless play. I left the theatre feeling confused, not really knowing what it was I had just watched. The story didn't lead anywhere, it was very static throughout and left me with a "what the hell was that about?" feeling. Very disappointing.

Important to see the acting craft, when in the presence of Knights of the Theatre. All the company/cast were strong players. At times I was scared for the health of the characters, feared the worst, violence, attack. Then humour and sadness beyond measure, old growing old, losing one's mind and distrusting those around you.... A lasting feeling lingers from the performance, not easily forgotten.Sublime. Thank you, cast and crew.

I am from Australia and took my son to see this performance. It was nothing short of brilliant. All four actors were amazing and words fail me to describe Ian and Patrick. It was like listening to men with honey in their voices.

I don't get to see that many high quality plays living in rural Ireland, so maybe I'm easily impressed. Sir Ian has boundless energy and the synergy between him and Patrick Stewart set the tone for a play with deep tones but also wry humour. Really enjoyed the pace of the play plenty of action but no frantic set changes. And of course two of my favorite actors so excited to see them live.

Superb. McKellen and Stewart doing battle with one another has to be the most enjoyable experience of any acting experience. Pure world class as good as Waiting for Godot.

The play itself is mostly obtuse with presumed serious message. However in becomes a terrific vehicle for master actors to make their own. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have created an event to remember.
