Just For One Day

We can be us, just for one day’

Relive the day music brought the world together.

Featuring the songs of Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Pretenders, The Cars, Status Quo, Sade, The Boomtown Rats, Diana Ross, Ultravox and more, this is the story of Live Aid and the people united by it.

Political unrest, social revolution, boom and bust. In a decade of neon and noise, one moment made the world stand still and brought 1.5 billion people together – and they all have a story to tell about ‘the day rock ‘n’ roll changed the world’.

The Old Vic by permission of the Band Aid Charitable Trust announce the world premiere of Just For One Day, a new musical written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things) in a limited run from 26 January to 30 March 2024.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Cleverly written and really well presented. Very strong cast, brilliant vocals, great humour.

I was not sure how a musical story could be put to the build up and execution of Live Aid but many sub-plots were weaved into the narrative and the songs were recast into forms that were still recognisable but also matched the storyline. It was amazing and I want to see it again but the run is finishing!
