Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical
Witness the greatest cast ever assembled live on stage, as the world-famous Spitting Image puppets tread the boards of London’s theatreland for the first time ever in IDIOTS ASSEMBLE: SPITTING IMAGE THE MUSICAL. It’s like a big West End show but without the boring bits.
Marvel at a stellar line-up of over 100 puppets of the great and the not so good, live in the (latex) flesh. See Tom Cruise as you’ve never seen him before as he’s tasked by His Majesty The King to create the U.K.’s very own “Magnificent Seven” of celebrity misfits to save the nation from a cabal of dark forces seeking to destroy it - that’s all the usual suspects. And James Corden.
Don’t miss this theatrical spectacle as all your favourite villains face off with Tiny Top Gun Tom and his band of rubbery heroes. There’s songs. There’s dancing. There’s absolutely no respect paid to anyone. All this plus new topical material in the show as and when it arises. Which, let’s face it, with the current global situation will be most days… It’s just like a West End musical but funnier and also doesn’t have Michael Ball in it.
Master of Ceremonies: Sir Ian McKellen. Starring “The Magnificent Seven”: Tom Cruise, Greta Thunbeg, Meghan Markle, Tyson Fury, RuPaul, Angela Rayner and Idris Elba. Also Featuring: Ant & Dec, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Keir Starmer, Stormzy, Vladimir Putin, The Tory Party Cabinet and many many many many many more
Direct from a 5-star sell-out run at Birmingham Rep, witness this hilarious extravaganza of a musical, simultaneously inspired and appalled by real events.
Written by a tour de force comedy team made up of Al Murray (The Pub Landlord), Matt Forde (The Political Party) and double-Olivier award winner Sean Foley (The Upstart Crow, The Play What I Wrote), who also directs, alongside a creative team spearheaded by the original Spitting Image co-creator, Roger Law, this is sure to be the must-see theatrical spectacular of 2023.

A great evening! Fantastic puppets and great jokes. The puppeteers are agile, young and no intrusive when using the puppets. They get to show off their dancing skills too. EVERYONE was insulted and lambasted…Fabulous! Good to see Her Madge back on her feet too!

Very amusing, great puppets, well thought through, only criticism is some of the swearing was a little over the top

Fabulously silly, irreverently disrespectful (and/but no-one escapes!) and gloriously tasteless. Very witty re-workings of classic songs. And an extraordinarily versatile and hard-working cast of puppeteers (and dancers!), who rightly received exuberant applause at the end.

Brilliant puppeteering (although wish they smiled a bit more & didn’t look so totally fed up). Very clever, hysterically funny, no holding back on anything, although we felt the story line was poor. However, something different & one to remember. Choosing the seats again, I’d book further back from row B at the front, neck ached watching.

Spitting Image delivered just what I had hoped for…… up to date political comment, wickedly outrageous but hilarious satire - they took no prisoners! We laughed from start to finish and talked about it all the way home…..still laughing!

I bought these tickets for my husband’s birthday & he was delighted with them! I wasn’t sure how it would translate to the stage but it was done very well… At times my husband was crying with laughter! Quite risqué but only to be expected. A good birthday present methinks!!!

An uncomfortable look at the state of Britain today. How bad is it when Maggie Thatcher and John Major are the GOOD GUYS looked back at with some fondness. Tory baddies included Matt Hancock (with a Kangaroo), Sajid Javid, Suella Braverman (going full Regan from the Exorcist), Rishi Sunak (as a School Boy), Liz Truss (as a giant Lettuce), Jacob Rees Mogg (as a Preying Mantis), Dominic Raab, Michael Gove and of course the ultimate Baddie BoJO who now wants to be THE King. I did enjoy the six foot high Dancing Willies (the usherette went ballistic when one audience member (sic) tried to take photographs of them)

A hilariously irreverent portrayal of characters who made this country what it is today. With highly skilled puppeteers, sometimes 3 to a character and uncannily accurate vocal impressions, this show was a laugh from beginning to end. However, the photographic backdrop towards the end, brought us back to real life with a bump and provided a poignant reminder of the disaster, loss of life and suffering to the people of the world. Overall a hugely entertaining portrayal of good v evil.

Very funny show. Reminded me of the old TV comedy programme. Not for the easily offended! So if you come prepared for plenty of swearing you will haveca great evening or matinée!

This show is so funny but not politically correct which I like! If you've seen the TV show you know what to expect! Unlike the TV show however there is swearing which as its to a very much smaller audience than TV is acceptable. Plenty of well known people are ribbed terrible but that's what this show is about.

..and we certainly got an evening full of laughs. Am amazing show. Excellent puppeteers, dancers, excellent script, choice of songs.. everything. Even the voice before the show asking us to turn off our phones..ended his request in an amusing way...to put it mildly. (Very mildly). The gentle/and not so gentle, digs at our establishment.. politicians and hereditary head of state..very well deserved and spot on. Most importantly..it was a delightfully entertaining way to spend an evening. Staff were all very helpful and funny too.( No I hadn't been drinking all night..ok, just the one! Don't miss it.

Very good and quite critical - particularly with a left leaning bent. Funny. But some of the song lyrics were difficult to understand. The sense that a left leaning lady was responsible for much of the dialogue?? But well worth the money.

From the opening lines before the show started, we could not stop laughing. The story line and the jokes in-between were genius. You were laughing at a joke, then another one just hits you. The caricatures were outstanding, and the whole cast were brilliant.

Absolutely Hilarious!!!!! Very clever!! Very imaginative!! Very funny!! One member of staff however was extremely rude and offensive - “oh! How difficult it is to find your seat?? The row numbers are there” she said in a haughty manner, raising her eyes as we entered the theatre. Towards the end of show she came over to my seats and told me stop laughing so loudly!!!! I was flabbergasted as the purpose of the show is to make people laugh. I learnt from others that she had done the same thing to other members of the audience. She spoilt what was a good day.

I normally find lots of good things to say about a production, but this is a difficult one! I loved Spitting Images when the programme first came out on television, so was attracted to this show. Funny in places but certainly not side-splitting, and felt rather uncomfortable as the UK was comprehensively bashed! The puppeteers were brilliant but I found their obvious constant presence distracting. Overall, a rather disappointing show.

Some parts were much funnier than others (personal perspective) and the operators were amazing, after a couple of minutes you forgot they were there.

The script, realtime gags and plot were excellent. All of the puppets were manipulated excellent by the on stage puppeteers. All four of us laughed out loud many times. The satire of my 80’s spitting image experience was still alive and well. Credit to all. As a hearing aid user your staff on the dress circle obtained a hearing loop and a stethoset. The neckloop appeared to connect and showed it was receiving a signal. Unfortunately I was hearing more through the hearing aid microphones than the loop. This was disappointing. I couldn’t use the stethoset as this needed to go directly into my ears. To do this would have meant removing my hearing aids and storing them somewhere. So I didn’t try that. Luckily my hearing aids managed to give clarity to about 90% of what was heard on stage. Please check it out. Still enjoyed and loved the show. Would recommend to others. Theatre staff all very pleasant and helpful.

We were aware of the genre of Spitting Image after seeing it on tv. We found this hilarious, we are not easily offended and going by the laughter in the theatre neither were other audience members. Nicole Sturgeon, Suella Benjamin and Alison Hammond were particularly well portrayed. Laughed from beginning to end. Would definitely go to another show if they did one.

The choreography from the puppeteers was extremely well done and vastly added more humour too the gags. The puppets looked impressive and backdrops and props well put together. Had a really good laugh on a thoroughly good night out.
