A Strange Loop
A Strange Loop
Described as ‘The most thrillingly playful and hilarious new musical to hit London in years. Spectacular‘ by the Evening Standard, and ‘Magnificent. Strikingly original and highly entertaining‘ by the Guardian, don’t miss your chance to experience this ‘One-of-a-kind masterpiece‘ (Vogue), in London this summer for a one-time only limited season.
A Strange Loop is the story of Usher. He’s a black gay man… writing a musical about a black gay man… writing a musical about a black gay man… surrounded by his chorus of six larger than life ‘Thoughts’ playing the characters in Usher’s mind, from self-berating entities like ‘Daily Self Loathing’ to caricatured depictions of Usher’s parents, to six-packed fantasy men, all while Usher tries to write the musical that we’re watching.
A Strange Loop is ‘A musical for our times’ (The Telegraph), stuffed with catchy memorable songs full of triumphant melodies, ‘innovative storytelling’ and the must see performances of 2023.

Absolutely adored this crazy show. A no holds barred, unapologetic presentation of one fat, gay, black New Yorker's truth. Given the Broadway treatment, but not as you've ever seen it before. Brilliant witty lyrics. Sex. Religion. Race. Mental health. It's all there.

Great performance of a smart, intense and very funny show. A few technical gremlins in lighting and be good to finesses the balance between music and vocals so that they are clear.

The play was funny, insightful and complex. The complexity of race and sexaulity. The letting go of something deep to you because you think it's right and fair.

Such talented singers/actors in this thought provoking musical. Humour and bits of shock added up to an evening that provoked conversation and certainly provided great singing. Usher particularly

I disappointed a lot of shouting and arguing along with way to much swearing every few sentences and scenes . The singer and some of the songs were well sung and written, but too much swearing for me

A Strange Loop is one of the best things I have ever seen on stage. Thank you Michael R Jackson for such wonderful writing, Stephen Brackett for your sensitive direction and Kyle Ramar Freeman for a show stopping, stand out, lead performance whilst being supported by an outstanding and very gifted cast. A Strange Loop is at times funny, challenging, heart warming, shocking, moving and thought provoking. Michael R Jackson said "We're giving London a peek into an identity that they may not have spent time thinking about." Well Thank You Mr Jackson. I know London will love it. A Strange Loop is a musical with balls and if I may say, as an unwitting white gay oppressor, big black beautiful, juicy balls at that!!
