I found a king in you and now I love me'
Father figures and fashion tips. Lost loves and jollof rice. African empires and illicit sex. Good days and bad days. Six young Black men meet for group therapy, and let their hearts – and imaginations – run wild.
For Black Boys is located on the threshold of joyful fantasy and brutal reality: a world of music, movement, storytelling and verse – where six men clash and connect in a desperate bid for survival.
Following its sold out runs at the Royal Court Theatre and New Diorama Theatre, the award winning For Black Boys Who Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy transfers to the West End for a limited 6 week run.

An absolutely incredible and poignant screenplay. Depicting the variations of Black British boys their struggles, sexuality, relationships and aspirations. Never has a play so perfectly captured the essence of Black British boys and men and resonated so deeply. It covered taboos, stigma and challenged what has become part of the culture. From the music to the slang it was quite clearly a production by us for us. I hope this show is brought back as I will go and see it again in a heartbeat.

For Black Boys is a powerful and thought-provoking play that explores the experiences of Black men in Britain. The show is incredibly well-written, with dialogue that is both poignant and impactful. The performances are excellent across the board, with each actor bringing a unique perspective to their role. The play tackles difficult subject matter with sensitivity and nuance, leaving audiences with much to think about long after the curtain falls. I highly recommend this play to anyone looking for a moving and thought-provoking theatrical experience.

For Black Boys… dived into the complexities of black male masculinity in an incredible performance of movement, humour and audience engagement. Cannot recommend it enough and I’m not surprised it’s sold out. Well done to everyone involved in the production - you’ve really done a fabulous job.

I don't have enough words to adequately articulate how incredible this play and experience is so I will provide you with this quote from my partner instead, 'I never need to go to the theatre again because nothing could ever top that'

It was all that theatre should be: a trigger, an invite to deeper thinking, moving, funny, extraordinarily well acted. I cried and laughed, and went home with the absolute certainty this will stay with me for a long time.

This was absolutely brilliant . The production and portrayal by those 6 amazing black men was better than anything we have ever seen. It was a 21st birthday present for my son who was so moved by it . It depicted so many truths and realities for our black men. Brought me to tears . Please extend this show for more than the 6 weeks. It needs to be out there more as it provides a true version of reality for the next generation.

We were blown away with the show. Every single actor was totally believable- the messages were very powerful. This entire show needs to be filmed and shown in schools to get a wider audience which is cost effective.

Beautiful play that takes you on an emotion journey. Uplifting, deep, vulnerable, hilarious, moving and groovy with great sound score. The movement direction was exceptional and I felt each character had something so important and powerful that we all needed to hear. Thank you for bring this beautiful and important work to the London West End and bringing our people OUT to the Theatre!

This was an extraordinary evening. Important- For many reasons. Joyful, hugely entertaining. A Massively talented cast delivering a truly beautiful piece of Theatre. Heartbreakingly sad and poignant. I wept at the end. It constantly turned on a dime. The movement. The connection . The sheer skill of the storytelling, the blazing honesty and poetry of the writing. I am an actor.. was in a seminal piece of theatre once. I recognize this as potentially a culture changing piece of work.God I hope so! This must continue beyond May.

As a mother of a young black man, this is needed to help reinforce the change in narrative for our young black men. I encourage all to go see this play and help start conversations with our beautiful young black men.

I could speak about this all year. Best show I’ve watched/experienced in the theatre. Speaks on the troubling matters of being a black British boy growing up into a man and trying to manoeuvre in this world with all the stacks up against you. I wish more black men and women were present and I pray those who were, left with the powerful motivation, pride in our culture, our individualistic beauty that shines and is replicated in other cultures too. We are the blueprint and have always been. Despite the history books that are pushed and the false narratives wiki tells us. It’s clear to see that we are drastically stronger together, as one, in love with each other and one-selves than we could ever be apart. I pray for continuous growth and love in our communities. This was impeccable and left me in awe. God bless them and all who were apart of this creation. Ah I loved it.

Brilliant, funny, Sincere. One of the best shows I have seen for a while. Actually I feel that seeing this play at a younger age would of helped me massively navigating this world as a black man.
