In this richly spare, wondrous play, Jordan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits — if any — of what technology can replace.

85-year-old Marjorie (Anne Reid)– who is rapidly losing touch with reality – has a handsome new companion who mysteriously is able to recall the story of her life for her. Who is he and where did he come from? This Pulitzer Prize nominated play explores the mysteries of human identity and whether artificial intelligence is a possible substitute for human emotion.

Jordan Harrison was a 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Marjorie Prime. The play premièred at the Mark Taper Forum/Center Theater Group in Los Angeles in September 2014 and had its New York premiere at Playwrights Horizons.

I left weak at the knees. Don’t miss this wonderful play. Not as much about AI as about aging, families, and love. Superb acting, of course. Anne Reid! Intimate theater, a privilege to see this production of this very well-written play. The warmth extends into the bar after the performance is over.

Unfortunately I can’t really give a review as I couldn’t hear it. I had asked if you had hearing enhancers and was told “no” but they were not necessary as the theatre is so small. That proved not to be the case. I feel that your prices were quite a bit above other fringe theatres such as the Park and Jermyn Street. I wouldn’t be able to visit again unless I was in the first couple of rows. I have located the play on the internet and will read it imagining the actors performing it!

This finely produced and beautifully acted play articulates a remarkable script. It has a wonderfully well-designed set. The theatre itself [if you don't know it] is well worth a visit in its own right! What a refreshing contrast with the usual Westend environments!
