42nd Street
It’s big… it’s bright… it’s a brand-spanking new production of the original showbiz musical, 42nd Street!
Starring Olivier Award-winning actress Ruthie Henshall will star as Dorothy Brock, alongside Olivier-nominee Adam Garcia as Julian Marsh, stage and screen star Les Dennis as Bert Barry and Nicole-Lily Baisden as Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street.
Jonathan Church (Singin’ In The Rain, The Drifters Girl) directs the iconic song-and-dance spectacular featuring a hit parade of toe-tapping songs including “42nd Street”, “We’re In The Money”, “Lullaby of Broadway”, “Shuffle Off To Buffalo” and “I Only Have Eyes For You.”
Choreographed and designed by Olivier Award winners Bill Deamer and Rob Jones, 42nd Street is a timeless and inspiring showbiz fairy tale that combines breathtaking tap dance routines, backstage intrigue, classic romance and delightful comedy to dazzling effect. It’s simply irresistible!
Fresh off the bus from small-town America, young and beautiful Peggy Sawyer arrives in New York City dreaming of her name in lights. She quickly catches the eye of a big-time director and lands a spot in the chorus line of Broadway’s newest show… and when the leading lady gets injured, Peggy gets her shot at stardom.
42nd Street is a larger-than-life, massively entertaining celebration of musicals and the irrepressible spirit of Broadway that’s guaranteed to lift anyone’s spirits. Don’t miss it!

We had such a fabulous time. The costumes and dancing were stunning. A light hearted old Hollywood style musical just what the doctor ordered to lift the spirits in current miserable times. Loved it.

Everything you want from a production of 42nd Street! Wonderful singing and breathtakingly energetic dancing, with more taps than you can conceive. A lovely evening diversion from the stresses of today's world.

We went to the show to enjoy the tap dancing. In addition we were treated to classic songs, singing, dancing, live music and amazing costumes. The auditorium had air conditioning. The seats were comfortable. The interval drinks of white wine were cold on a very hot day and served in wine glasses! ( in contrast to some other theatre venues!)

this was the fourth item that I had seen this play, the first time being in the 1980's. There are a few changes in this production but it is as wonderful as ever.

Loved it. Volume just right. Songs and acting very good, dancing even better. Good facilities at the Sadlers Wells theatre. Last time I was there was 1957 sitting next to my headmaster to see D'Oyly Carte playing The Mikado. Didn't stop him giving me a Saturday morning detention though for not being sat at my desk when he burst in.

The talent of Ruthie Henshall and the young dancer who played Peggy is undisputed. However I saw the show in the West End and the phenomenal stage setting, beautiful costumes and choreography was not matched. Shuffle was particularly bad, the cartoon train and lack of chemistry with the cast made it very flat. If I hadn’t seen the West End show I would have enjoyed it more. Claire Halse, Peggy in the West End is super talented and really made the role her own .

Loved the performance and to see the talent of the performers . Not forgetting the talent in the Pitt . The costumes were dazzling along with the tap and singing. Thank you all. You must remember this is a touring production and if you have seen the 2018 performance this is obviously different re size.
