Celebrate love, transformation, and community this summer in Shakespeare’s joyous comedy, As You Like It, in the Globe Theatre this summer.

The Forest of Arden. Rosalind and Celia are on the run and in disguise; Orlando is pinning his impassioned attempts at poetry to branches; Oliver is seeing fantastical visions of strange beasts.

From the loyal love between family to the sudden love of strangers, and from the vicious love between enemies to the desperate love of remorse, journey into the forest as we embark on a transformative adventure. Who knows what – or who – we might find?

Following 2017’s ‘superb’ ★★★★★ (WhatsOnStage) Othello in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Director Ellen McDougall debuts in the Globe with this exuberant tale of romance and redemption.

‘Love is merely a madness’
Act III, scene 2

A trip to Shakespeare’s globe never fails to disappoint and this production is no exception. With a dazzling trans and queer cast all of whom reflect back to us their characters in a deeper light. This play is heart warming and funny and energetic and musical and cheeky and bold. For anyone who is wondering what Shakespeare looks like in the 21st century- this is it. A reminder that there was a time when of course only men would play all roles, any critique of gender diverse casting today is plain historical ignorance and the globe understands and utilises this imaginatively. People may question and disagree with some decisions but that is what theatre does and has always provoked us do and long may it continue to ruffle feathers and inspire. The cast and whole team have pulled off something incredible and if you are a fan of anything Shakespeare or want to be a part of something that our grandparents could never imagine go and experience As You Like It.
