Mother Goose
★★★★★ “The genius is the pairing of Ian McKellen and John Bishop” Metro
Playing until 29th Jan, don’t miss Ian McKellen and John Bishop in a hilarious comedy for all ages – described by critic as “a total hoot” (★★★★★, Broadway World), “a solid gold hit” (★★★★★, The Stage) and absolutely “glorious” (★★★★★, Daily Telegraph).
Mother Goose is a live entertainment spectacle not to be missed – full of fun, musical comedy, star power and surprises that will make you honk out loud. This cheeky fairytale is exactly “the kind of knockabout entertainment that we all need” (The Times) and “infectious fun” (Time Out) from start to finish.
So scramble for tickets to see two legends of acting & comedy “work beautifully as if they have been a double act for years” (London Theatre 1), and get ready for fairies with hefty vocal chords, puppets with tap dance qualifications and impeckably constructed mayhem that will quack up those aged between 3 to 103! Don’t be a goose – book your tickets now.

This was the most fun you could have in an evening! The cast were incredibly talented, John and Ian were hysterical and the audience participation made the whole thing a fantastic night to remember. So much so that I may try to book again at one of the other venues in the run up to the show closing in April.

A fabulous afternoon out! Something for everyone, adult and child. Great dance routines some excellent singing, and some not-so-good, John! Awful jokes and dirty asides! But I haven't laughed, shouted or sung so much since I don't know when! Well done everyone involved. Brilliant!

A fun filled silly evening in the tradition of the unique British panto. Thus show had everything; a bit of political comment word play custard pies, ad lobbing, a bit of corpsing, great songs and brilliant costumes. Central to the success was Ian McKellens performance as Mother Goose.(At 84 how does he do it?) and John Bishop's warmth which well and truly drew the audience in. The cast were all brilliant and seemed united in giving the audience and gave every indication of also enjoying themselves. In what can be a gloomy world, a A lovely evening to raise the spirits.

Who would’ve thought that Ian McKellen and John Bishop would make such a great pairing! My mum, ( who is 82) my partner and I all loved this show! A chance to be children for an evening. The singing was gorgeous! The acting (of course) marvellously camp! The costumes were stupendous! Well written, acted, costumed, choreographed..and the choice of music was superb! And the humour…well…it was brilliant! The best pantomime I’ve seen!

All actors were fantastic. The singing, the dancing were amazing. But most of all the costumes were out of this world. Bravo to Mother Goose for changing into different outfits so quickly !! Bravo to the whole cast.

It is a rare thing when your are brought to tears by a totally unexpected moment of pure magic in the theatre. It was such a moment last evening when we were entertained by an ensemble cast with love and passion for their craft. We were reminded of the remarkable career of the productions star Ian McKellen, with a poignant moment of magic, when the great knight delivered a plea to the Goose King, with the famous ‘quality of mercy’ soliloquy. You could have heard a pin drop! Wonderful

The songs, the dancing, the jokes (several of which, to be fair, verging on the single-entendre side) and especially Ian McKellen make this a riot of fun

I couldn’t have lived it more. It was funny and noisy and totally bonkers. People ad-libbing. Lines being forgotten. The right amount of “behind you!” It was perfect. Ian McKellen was beyond perfect in his role as Mother Goose. The kids got chocolate that were thrown into the audience. It as great. I can’t recommend it enough
