  No real substitute for those who’ve seen original musical or 1st film version. Dream Baby Dream impressive as acrobatics but added nothing to the story. Too much time spent on upping the money. Jud fell on his own dagger in the original rather than was shot. didn’t see the point in that change. The set of a few tables and filing chairs not the stuff of a a real musical. Daniel Fish seems to have had a v efficient US publicity machine - it’s unmissable etc - for a performance that didn’t add up. Male singers straight actors with little or no singing/musical experience. And it showed.

  Everything was perfect; the actors, the staging. I was in the front row aand I felt very involved. A great musical, revived for the new generation, supermusic and lyrics. A must see production.

  This modern version was not entirely to my liking. The singing and dancing were fine but the speech was not always clear. The lighting was weird and the dark scenes especially added nothing but confusion. I will stick to the film version with Gordon MacRae .

  This show had its moments, but the producers seem to have stripped all the joy out of the ‘traditional’ Oklahoma story. The big dance numbers were small shuffling affairs, and the show ended as if something akin to a Shakespearean tragedy had occurred on stage. Why? Some very good voices on show (but also a few that were straining to hit the high notes. All-in-all, enjoyable-ish, if you want Oklahoma ‘as you have never seen it before. Whether you would care to see this versions second time is open to question.

  This production of Oklahoma was very different to the ones I’ve seen before. The cast were excellent, particularly the actor playing the part of Ado Annie, and their voices were brilliant. Although the musical obviously has a dark undertone with the character of Jud, the social outcast, this production was very dark and moody, and the blackout scenes were very effective in portraying these scenes. I think that it helped to know the plot, or the dance/dream scene at the beginning of the second half, would have been extremely puzzling, if you you didn’t know it was a dream. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

  A bit doubtful when it first started as we had both been bought up with old school musical and film. How ever what a brilliant interpretation cast were incredible loved the interaction. We were totally absorbed and would have no hesitation in recommending the show well done all of you

  Boring, almost non-existent set. All the actors were slumped on chairs. Impossible to tell who was talking. “Oh what a beautiful morning “ was like a funeral dirge, as was “Surry with the fringe on top”. The first time it didn’t feel like a tired read-through was “Everything’s up to date in Kansas City”, when the actor animated the song and woke up the audience. There was ZERO stage craft- actors mumbling to each other while virtually on top of each other. The highlight of this glorious musical was when the lights all went out for “Poor Jud is dead”.Also, “I’m just a girl who caint say no” was well performed. The horrendous and, frankly, embarrassing opening to the second act- like watching a first year drama student “express herself “ in knickers and a naff T shirt, caused embarrassed laughter from where I was sitting. I left at this point.

  So dreadful. How did it win any awards?Miserable. Boring. Depressing. I left in the interval. It was like a school production put on by a young teacher trying to be ironic. Total waste of money. Don’t go!

  We enjoyed the show, I think the show could have been better in a bigger theatre, as although this theatre was lovely the stage itself was quite small.

  Definitely different than the original. I was hoping for more movement and dancing. Could have done with out the second act ballet. The cast is great and they have wonderful voices.

  I only booked as a treat for my wife, but this was one of the most impressive productions I have seen in the West End. Truly excellent!!

  We were very disappointed. If this is supposed to be a modern interpretation of the wonderful musical it fell very short for us. Average singing Terrible stage set Odd dancing routine and did not like the black outs. Sorry!

  We left after the first half. Clearly this show is trying very hard to be different and I’m not referring to the ‘’raunchy’ rumours. The set boring, choreography too, the voices, well, from the very beginning jarring. It’s a musical, right? In 2007, Oklahoma! was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[7][8] None of this was apparent. What a shame.

  Seats very uncomfortable with little leg room . Production very slow at first and the story was not well told. Dancing not impressive, Set nonexistent, the black outs did not make sense. The dream sequence far too long. Singing was good and Annie the girl who just can’t say ‘No ‘ was excellent.

  A very different show from the original - not one myself and friend would recommend -I found it hard to follow story and found production to be very dark - also felt adaption was politically correct which spoilt the show- I also couldn’t understand the significance of the girl dancing on stage - overall a very disappointing adaptation!

  Slow start and strange unimaginative setting for the musical I love I THOUGHT but….. I was so wrong. I was hooked in and the surprises were revealed slowly and seductively. Imagination was key. Loved it. But…. Some people left early clearly confused and disappointed. It wasn’t what it said on the tin.

  As it says a completely new revival. It works brilliantly funny, emotional and menacing in parts. Fantastically arranged music a totally different sound, marvellous. A great show, a must see show

  An ok production. If you are going to change/ modernise a classic make sure the new version can stand up against it. The scenery was basic, lighting poor and voice projection could have been better. It needed a bigger ensemble to bring it to life. The title song was ok but that should have been the big one. When I have heard it sung on many other platforms it always sends a tingle down my spine. This was just a whimper as there just wasn’t enough to bring it to life. It was clearly produced on a budget and it showed. Sorry to say.

  Very disappointing production. No idea how it warrants 5* Too much darkness, smoke, little atmosphere and laboured throughout - apart from the last 10 minutes my friends and I were totally bored - sorry

  This new production sparkles whilst delicious new musical arrangements provide foot tapping numbers and uplifting vocal performances. The only part that did not quite fit was the second half dream sequence which has an overwhelmingly heavy soundtrack that is a bit uncomfortable on the ear drums and too long .

  I hadn’t read any reviews so had expectations of gingham and hoe downs. Well… I got those but so much more. I was gripped, it was Shakespeare and Sophocles and Euripides and Rogers and Hammerstein. I feel so jealous of those who are yet to see it.

  Loved the idea of reworking this classic but some bits just didn't work! The dream/nightmare dance at the beginning of act 2, clever but way too long cut it by 2/3rds you were completely losing the audience, All my party were choruses as to why curly shot Geb (not knowing the story!) This wasn't very clear! And the blacked out scenes, my companion thought there'd been a power cut!! Having said that, loved the cast and band, just think it needs a bit of tweaking!!

  There is something irksome about House lights being left on … yes it contrasted with the scenes with blackouts or strange coloured lighting but it also created a “Verfremdungseffekt” - alienation; I could not lose myself in the world of the play. The director also thought it was clever to have actors on stage all the time whether involved in the action or not - it was certainly different but made it hard to focus on the actual scene. The Brechtian minimalism ripped the joy out of the musical and the actors struggled to engage. The strange and interminable dance at the start of the second act was another example of a director not letting a play and it’s music speak for themselves. Largely disappointing.

  First half very good with a few pregnant pauses second half a very random unrelated solo dance ...all in all good show and nice small theatre and helpful staff

  Having seen the excellent reviews for this production and loving various past productions of this musical I thought I would enjoy it. How wrong I was. I considered leaving after the first half but decided to endure. This upcycled version was certainly not for me. Perhaps more suitable for the younger generation. On the plus side, the theatre was full and that was very good to see.

  The worst show I've ever been too in all my years, didn't hang around for the 2nd half. total let down. one boring set, sound poor, the list is endless, total ruined the show & nothing like or anyway near the original. it said, This visionary production is funny and sexy, provocative and probing, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING.
