Sylvia
'Be the change that you want to see
Be the change for you and me’
This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement, who changed the lives of working women and men across the world.
Following its 2018 run as a work-in-progress, Kate Prince’s Sylvia is back where it all began for its world premiere, uniting dance, hip hop, funk and soul to shine a light on a remarkable moment in history, with original music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.

Everything about this production was amazing. Set, staging, lighting, costumes, music and cast. Moved to tears in places as the story had such a profound effect on me.

Treated my daughters as my youngest is an actress and loves musicals. We were totally blown away with the vibes and amazed at the singing, dancing - we couldn't sit still in our seats - and the message 'equal rights for women'...black women included, came across loud and clear! The cast were brilliant - Beverley Knight and Sharon Rose's voices were amazing - Sweeney who played 'Silvio' had the ladies swooning...what a voice, on par with likes of Justin Timberlake! Spoke to an american lady, who was blown away with the performance...hope it makes its way to Broadway! So sorry the show has come to an end...more people need to see it!

I had no idea that there was more than 1 Pankhurst. Very cleverly done I loved the way the singing styles complemented the story. A very lively way to bring history alive. The music and singing were great I especially liked the Main characters voice amazing

An entertaining, thought provoking, emotional history lesson. Congratulations to the creators of this productions. The singing and dancing was sensational, as were the backing musicians. The whole performance fully deserved the standing ovation at the end. Sorry the run is coming to an end. Hope it returns to London soon. Will be urging family and friends to see it.

Just such an amazing show. This was an impromptu trip to the theatre with my daughter and it did not disappoint. The understudy for the lead was mind blowing. Their voices were so powerful.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Utterly brilliant voices all round. Go Hannah Khemoh - what a beautiful and powerful voice!!! Stage design was genius. Perfect mix of humour (we laughed so much), great music, and even learned a thing or two about a period in history and subject i thought I knew quite a bit about.

The astounding energy of this production hits you in the first couple of minutes. The range of talented actors and actresses all of whom can sing and dance to the highest level. A most interesting story about the amazing Sylvia Pankhurst and her family who pioneered votes for women. We loved the story, and have been encouraged to research the history of these incredible women. SO good!

My absolute top show of the year, possibly decade, possibly of all time. Second time, and even better, wish I had time to see it again before it closes. Please say it's touring and you're releasing soundtrack! The performances are sublime, Beverley Knight's vocals made me cry. It's a work of genius where every element is perfection incl the staging, tech and of course choreo (I love Kate Prince!) So incredibly powerful and important. The UK's Hamilton, and I much preferred this to Hamilton (not to take anything away from Hamilton)!

Loved and was gripped by this amazing story. I did not know about the life of Sylvia Pankhurst. Her commitment to fighting for the equality of working people is truly inspirational, and the show tells her story with laughter, tears and song. Thank you all

I really enjoyed this. Music, cast, dancing and set were lovely. For a musical, it stayed surprisingly close to the true story. The way the march on Parliament was presented was wonderful. Made me think of the women demonstrating today for their rights, and being attacked for it, in Iran and elsewhere. Perhaps today's struggles should have been referenced somewhere. Some of the rhymes were a bit clunky and the sound during Jennie Churchill's first song was too muffled -- you couldn't hear the words. That said, I never expected to hear a song about the 1910 Conciliation Bill. A lovely and memorable visit to the theatre. I'd go again. Thank-you.

This is the second time I have seen this show, which speaks for itself! It is absolutely amazing, great singing and dancing. The young lady who plays Sylvia was outstanding. It was a shame Beverley Knight wasn't in it last night, but her understudy had a great voice. It was also very enlightening and told a story I knew very little about. Winston Churchill definitely wasn't the hero people have portrayed him as in history. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend people see the show before it closes.

Sylvia was the most informative, lively historical musical I have seen. It showed a very clear overview of who were the influencers for votes for all women. A must be seen!!

The cast really put their heart and soul into their performances - it did remind me of Hamilton a bit, but in a way it was better as the theatre is smaller and more intimate. Great rythm, dancing, humour. I really loved the encore.

The whole cast made this show. The fact that at one point two of the cast were crying with emotion made the telling of this incredible story all the more realistic.

WHAT a brilliant music genre to use for such a challenging and historically 'shocking' personal story. The energy of hip-hop propels you through this confrontational chapter of UK politics ..... FABULOUS vocal quality from all the performers we saw: LOVED the monochrome costuming with flashes of scarlet........ especially the individual black 'velvet' stripes and diagonals on those glorious black skirts. SO good to see a show that appeals to such a WIDE audience spectrum too. I HOPE it will be toured across the country?

What an amazing production, I bought the tickets for a friend for Christmas and we had a great time. The scenery was simple yet effective, a faultless cast with fantastic energy throughout as the story unfolded. Very emotive and much learnt on the night. First time in this beautiful theatre, although seats were not particularly comfortable . A bonus to meet Beverley Knight at the stage door, both her and other cast members took time to say hello and have photos taken when asked. What a great evening out.

From the first note to the last an absolutely outstanding evening at the theatre. The superb voices, exuberant and evocative dancing and ensemble acting told a passionate story of struggle and victory with humour and emotion. Rise up! I’m going again .

Sylvia was one of the best pieces of theatre that I have ever seen. The melodies and harmonies were breath taking. The guy playing Silvio’s voice melted me as did all the other voices. Beverley was, of course, fantastic, but the whole cast were all stand outs. The lyrics, choreography, sets and actors made it magical, informative, powerful and thought provoking theatre which I will never forget!

Story, choreography, music, lyrics, set and casting all worked together stunningly well. We have been following Kate Prince, her hip hop choreography an Zoonation’s storytelling for some years now and this was a logical next step. We look forward to her next collaboration 🙏

I’ve seen a lot of musicals and this one of the absolute best I’ve seen. The principals were astounding and the rest of the company were incredible. The band were absolutely stunning…. I have seen this twice now and I might even book it for a third time

Enjoyable, educational show (although does not purport to be entirely factually correct which is fine) with amazing performances from the whole cast but particularly 2 leads. However as a fan of Kate Prince choreography who has seen all her shows but particularly loved 'Message in a Bottle', rather too wordy and static for me.
