'Be the change that you want to see
Be the change for you and me’

This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement, who changed the lives of working women and men across the world.

Following its 2018 run as a work-in-progress, Kate Prince’s Sylvia is back where it all began for its world premiere, uniting dance, hip hop, funk and soul to shine a light on a remarkable moment in history, with original music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.

I really enjoyed this. Music, cast, dancing and set were lovely. For a musical, it stayed surprisingly close to the true story. The way the march on Parliament was presented was wonderful. Made me think of the women demonstrating today for their rights, and being attacked for it, in Iran and elsewhere. Perhaps today's struggles should have been referenced somewhere. Some of the rhymes were a bit clunky and the sound during Jennie Churchill's first song was too muffled -- you couldn't hear the words. That said, I never expected to hear a song about the 1910 Conciliation Bill. A lovely and memorable visit to the theatre. I'd go again. Thank-you.

This is the second time I have seen this show, which speaks for itself! It is absolutely amazing, great singing and dancing. The young lady who plays Sylvia was outstanding. It was a shame Beverley Knight wasn't in it last night, but her understudy had a great voice. It was also very enlightening and told a story I knew very little about. Winston Churchill definitely wasn't the hero people have portrayed him as in history. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend people see the show before it closes.
