Loved the adaptation and the script . Loved the way the story was put across. Thoroughly enjoyed the staging of the production and the whole way it was produced The music score and the carols really enhanced the Christmassy feel and the production generally and the sound produced by singers and musicians was excellent . The acting really brought the character’s to life. All in all excellent and an uplifting experience. Came out buzzing with the enjoyment of live theatre.

An emotional piece of theatre, bought to life by a dedicated and brilliant cast and crew! From start to finish the show was sensational and overwhelming!! Owen Teale captured the audience with his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge, whilst the rest of the cast compliment his character beautifully! The music in this production was unique and each piece created some of the most powerful, elegant and emotional scenes of theatre! From start to finish the show is simply outstanding!

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I’d never been there before and found the venue quaint and unique. Great production. Love Dickens and shows of that era. Also love Jane Austen so notify me if anything comes up!! Just what I needed at the beginning of the dismal year we are experiencing. Thanks

Wow. I took my husband and teenage son. They were not that excited as we set off but throughout the performance their faces beamed,..it was better than expected. 7/10from the teenager. Trust me that’s an A*. So lucky I got to see it as just lost my Dad and I needed something to lift my mood. Owen was dynamic. Hilarious. Loveable. Entire Cast faultless. Brilliant start to 2023.

This is by far the greatest rendition of A Christmas Carol I have seen. From the moment you enter the theatre to the moment you leave you are entranced. The lighting, the smells, the intimacy of the theatre, and the the interactions all make you feel part of the play. I LOVE this play. Have seen it four times and would happily watch it 40 more times.

I was very much impressed that this version of A Christmas Carol was excellent. It was totally Scrooge Reincarnated. I enjoyed all the actors performances and especially enjoyed the hand bells, that was a lovely touch. I see the Christmas Carol every year in London, its part of my Christmas ritual. This was by far, the best production I have seen. Well done

I bought these tickets as a Christmas present for my partner. We both thoroughly enjoyed the show. We had seats right next to the stage and so felt fully immersed in the show that made us laugh and cry! It was a lovely ending to Christmas to see the original Christmas Carol, as written by Charles Dickens. (my partner said it was a nice change to Kermit & Miss Piggy!!)

Owen Teale portrayed Eberneezer Scrooge to a T. Outstanding performance from all the cast, and production well put together including props and sound effects. Always love the end with the food and snow. We will be back again next year for sure.

What a brilliant production of A Christmas Carol! Superb acting by Owen Teale and indeed by the entire cast. It was all about the characters with no distractions from fancy props. Loved the bell ringing. Felt so Christmassy especially as we visited on Christmas Eve.

We return every year to the old vics production of A Christmas Carol and this years was absolutely superb. We both thought that Owen Teal was the most powerful and moving Scrooge we have seen. If you love Christmas you must see this it is just wonderful. We're already talking about next year.

I have seen many renditions of this play and none have come close to moving me in such a way. Owen Teale was glorious and so were the handbell-ringing cast. Some lovely surprises along the way and in such a beautiful theatre too.

An elderly traveler and his three guests not unlike travelers to Bethlehem were caste out by the old vic and the booking agency through whom 4 very expensive tickets were purchased. I left my printed tickets behind in paris and neither the booking agency or the theatre were the slightest bit interested in helping me. Indeed professed no booking in my name Yet right on cue this morning i am asked by AI to write a review. I challenge you to publish this tale of British xmas cheer and hospitality to your tourists.. ho ho ho London town. I am on the train back to paris.. disappointed

The performance 20-12-22 7pm we had booked tickets for was cancelled by the Old Vic due to staff illnesses! very upsetting Please refund me for the cost of tickets, and hopefully provide some compensation to me for the waste of travel costs £80 time and the disappointment for me my guests.

No one’s fault but due to cast illness the show was cancelled at the last minute and we were told on arrival. Such a shame as we were excited to see the show and get into the Christmas spirit. Complimentary drinks were offered and the best was made of the evening. Get well soon everyone! Looking forward to receiving the ticket refund in due course!

The show was awesome and the theatre beautiful. The theatre was used creatively and the special effects were brilliant. A truly wonderful performance - all the family enjoyed it and it was a fabulous start to Christmas. I would highly recommend it. One of the best shows we have seen for a while. Well done to the superb cast! Brilliant!

Loved the “Muffin Man” touch offering Mince Pies and Satsumas to the seating audience. The Baylis Circle vendor offered friendly banter and a cheery welcome, so did “Nell” when she proffered more satsumas- off to a great start. Scene setting street singing overture with carols and bell ringing on a deceptively simple stage in the round. Effective use of under stage/plank lighting and slotted props made for smooth scene changes. Very clever, very subtle, very Dickensian. Gruel, fuel, cruelty what more could you desire from A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic? Ah yes a white Christmas ……..There was Snow! Loved it!

I have never been to the old Vic before and although I know the Christmas Carol story I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was amazing I loved it. The fake snow the audience involvement and the hand bells just fabulous. The orchestra were great too and the sound effects. I would definitely go again and recommend it to every one.

This is the second year we have seen this performance. Again we have been overwhelmed by the powerful, moving and humorous performance and production. It is worth the cost of a 400 mile return trip and this is now part of an annual pilgrimage!

From the beginning, with mince pies and oranges, the mood was magically set. Taking elements of the Charles Dickens story, the play explored background, family, struggle and hardship with music, song, snow and swift moving story telling. The culmination of the play, bringing together strands of The Christmas Carol and reinventing them, was a theatrical triumph. Potatoes, oranges, more potatoes and Brussels sprouts cascading onto the stage was a joy to watch. And not a dry eye in the house with the last bell ringing music. Poignant and at the same time, hard hitting, with a relevant reminder of our roles and duties in society. We were so fortunate to see this show.
