& Juliet – you Can’t Stop The Feeling!

What’s & Juliet about?

It’s the opening night of Romeo & Juliet. Shakespeare arrives like a megastar…but his wife, a spirited Anne Hathaway, is about to bring him down to earth with a bump! Realising Juliet can do a lot better than Romeo (and certainly shouldn’t kill herself for a man she’s only just met) Anne sets to work helping Juliet rewrite her story.

This irreverent, fun-loving new West End Musical asks, “What if Juliet’s ending was only the beginning?”. The show is packed full of the biggest pop anthems of the past 3 decades from internationally acclaimed songwriter Max Martin. They are cleverly woven around a brilliantly funny script by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), with direction by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights).

The Olivier Award nominated creative team includes choreographer Jennifer Weber, set designer Soutra Gilmour and sensational new arrangements by Tony and Grammy Award-winner Bill Sherman to mega-hits from Britney Spears’Baby One More Time to Katy Perry’s Roar

This is Juliet as you’ve never seen her before. Fun, feisty and fearless. Think ‘Shakespeare in Love’ meets ‘MTV’ and you’re pretty much there! The show is a riotous blast of comedy set to a glorious pop soundtrack. You’ll never have more fun on a night out in the West End!

Five things you might not know about Max Martin

His songs may be Larger Than Life, but Max Martin is actually a lot happier away from the limelight. Here are five fascinating Max Martin facts about this humble superstar:

1. Max Martin has written (or co-written) 23 Billboard Hot 100 number 1 songs.
2. Only two songwriters have any more #1 hits – and they happen to be Paul McCartney and John Lennon…Max is catching up with John fast.
3. Max has been voted ASCAP (Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Songwriter of the Year a record 11 times.
4. Most songwriters play keyboards, but Max Martin got started by playing French Horn! Max credits Sweden’s public music education program with giving him the best start in life.
5. As a teenager, Max fronted a glam-metal band called ‘It’s Alive’!

We loved the show, the contemporary dancing music and the staging was amazing. We loved how each member of the ensemble cast had their own individual identity but were part of a team.
