What is Jersey Boys about?

This Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award winning smash hit musical tells the real-life story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. With an unforgettable sound, Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi took the musical world by storm – and radio stations just couldn’t get enough of them.

Yet each ‘season’ tells the story their own way…and what a story! From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their backstage relationship was dynamite. Surviving prison and run-ins with the mafia the Four Seasons rose from backing vocalists to become international music icons, thanks to Frankie’s unique falsetto vocals and Bob Gaudio’s song writing gift.

Yet soon, success proves to be harder to handle than obscurity ever was. Jealousy, divorces and bad debts put a strain on the band – and all their relationships. But while their private lives fall apart, their musical legend only grows. Their story may be heart breaking, but their musical is totally uplifting – and you’ll be singing the songs all the way home!

Fall in love with The Four Seasons all over again. Book your tickets for Jersey Boys at the Trafalgar Theatre in London today!

Jersey Boys awards

This ground breaking show was nominated for an incredible seven Drama Desk Awards in the US. Eight Tony Award nominations followed, winning four including Best Musical. The soundtrack also won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Jersey Boys then backed up this success in the UK, winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical.

Five Fun Facts about Jersey Boys

1. The show is divided into four parts – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each of the Four Seasons gets to narrate their own part of the show.
2. The Four Seasons’ choreography definitely improved over the years. The band developed iconic moves – but see if you can spot the ‘gorilla dancing’ in early scenes!
3. Oscar-winning actor Joe Pesci (Goodfellas) played a pivotal role in the Band’s formation – New Jersey was obviously the place to be!
4. Frankie Valli sings the title number on the Grease movie soundtrack. He was given the choice to either sing Grease (written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees), or to appear as Teen Angel in Beauty School Dropout.
5. When the Jersey Boys movie was directed by Clint Eastwood, he fought for the main roles to be cast from theatre actors rather than movie ‘names’. And he won!

We were informed at the beginning to sit still and shut up If the show involved the audience more I feel that both the stage production and the crowd would benefit greatly

We really enjoyed the show, a simple stage presentation that was swiftly transformed to match the fast pace of a touching and at times hilarious true life story. The music and delivery of every song was amazing, what great voices, we were blown away!
