It was a fascinating and different way to look at Van Gogh’s work, bringing the movements in his works to life, and to hear some of his thoughts on art, life and nature. The VR part was amazing!

The whole event was just brilliant. It was so immersive and interesting. I did like the storyboards depicting his life and it was in large text!!!! I would highly reccomend this to anyone including non art lovers!

Only 1 room of light projection images . Through to a room where you can pay extra for a virtual experience! Then a few boards of info on Van Gogh to read - the end ! Went to a light show at Lincoln Cathedral the week before , half the price and 10 times the size . A real let down .

We enjoyed the experience very much. However the spotlight above the central display was too bright and spoiled it for me. I had to shade my eyes

We enjoyed the experience, especially the VR goggles. We didn’t think we should have to pay extra to use the goggles however.

It's a wonderful experience, one I would recommend and it is good value too...however...I had been to a similar experience in Boston and was looking forward to this. I would have preferred the story boards to have been seen before the experience (as was in Boston) and then finish with VR but the location/layout clearly did not lend itself to this set-up. The actual screening was in a room which had one major visual pov so it was really necessary to be at the back of the hall to take in everything. This was a bit of a let down after Boston. A larger hall would have helped too.

Absolutely loved it. So not what I was expecting. I was amazed at how well the show was done. The 3D experience after the show I would definitely recommend too. The whole experience was worth the money. Glad I went.

So purchased tickets through box office website - turned at the place and it was boarded shut!! Traveled from far for this exhibition! Sent several emails to get me refund. No response. Ended going the next day and purchasing tickets ( again) through the actual van Gough experience website not the third party like this. Avoid. Exhibition itself was amazing ✨

Due to the rail problems we couldn't make it last Saturday You were charging us an extra £9-90 to change our date to a later date This is a ridiculous amount to charge us just to change the date on your computer !!!!! So we definitely won't be booking through you ever again - total rip off !!!!!

Very interesting. I personally would have found it more informative if I had been able to read the information BEFORE the 11 min. art in the round. LOVED the VR session. Hi

A unique experience gaining an insight into the environment which inspired some of the paintings-and the way in which colour and light influenced his paintings. I would highly recommend this immersive experience.

We were greatest by a very friendly person, who explained the experience well. As we went through to the exhib, I was wowed by the projections around the church walls and floor. We sat comfortably to view the 35 min show and I was overcome with emotions, I cried. It was so magically beautiful. We moved onto drawing our own pictures which we projected onto the wall , then took a VR tour through the famous bedroom, outside and through some of his most famous works. It was fantastic. I would highly recommend this to anyone, even if you're not a great lover of art, it's a magical experience.

We loved the whole experience!!! We were not sure what to expect but it was truly immersive with images of Van Goghs paintings cast 360 degrees on the church walls of St Mary’s Church which added further to its appeal. The accompanying music and narrative was also very fitting. To finish we signed up to the virtual reality experience which depicted Arles where Van Gogh lived and drew on his surroundings for some of his works. It was really really enjoyable and something so very different. We would definitely recommend!

I travelled an hour by train to get to my nearest venue in York and it was worth it, I was very impressed. I truly felt immersed in the images of Van Gogh's work and the music supported my enjoyment of the event. An absolute must is the Virtual Reality opportunity for a small amount, which I found mind-blowing. Loved it all.

This is a beautiful, moving and totally compelling experience but you absolutely MUST pay the extra £3 to do the ‘day in the life of vincent’ 3d experience - I would have payed ten times that …. Unbelievable and unforgettable.

We visited the Van Gogh Immersive Experience whilst on holiday recently. We paid £8 each for this incredible experience. Worth every penny. It was awe-inspiring as we sat and soaked up the atmosphere and imagery of Van Gogh's paintings as they came to life around us. The musical accompaniment was perfect, and if that wasn't enough, following on from that we had a virtual reality experience which was just amazing. The whole thing was beautiful and I would do it again if the opportunity arose.

Myself & a friend went on 3/11/22-a timed pre booked visit. We thoroughly enjoyed it, were a little confused initially as were unsure when the immersive experience started! The process could have been explained a bit clearer when we arrived. We went into a room & sat in deckchairs to watch a big screen with background narration of the artists life & inspiration for his paintings which were all around the room, this lasted about half an hour. We then exited via the stage and entered another room where we paid an extra £3 for a VCR headset, were directed to chairs & the young lady fitted the headsets and explained the 360degree interactive journey we were about to take that would last 11 minutes. It was amazing, you really felt you were there travelling through stunning scenery in the places the artist loved and captured in his paintings, it was actually quite emotional. Well worth a visit and I hope to go again before it ends.

The first 35 minutes of the visit involves sitting in deckchairs whilst being surrounded by music and images of Van Gogh paintings projected on to the church walls. The second part of the visit I involves a virtual reality experience which is superb. Quite brilliant. It is £3 additional to the original entrance fee but totally worth it.

Very nicely done. Lovely way to experience the work of Van Gogh but very expensive for what it was. Mainly one room with a projected show which was lovely but that’s it.

Really found the experience amazing. The immersiveness, you don't know where to look! Very clever graphical rechnology. Only negative - nowhere on the Internet or your ticket does it tell you the 3D visualisation is at an additional cost of £3. When we were there this meant that nobody was doing it! Why not either remove the cost or drop it to £1 and get more people using it?

St Mary's Church York is the perfect setting for this magical experience. As a lover of Van Gogh I was extremely moved by the whole journey. I really did feel like I was allowed a glimpse into the mind of the tortured genius, Vincent Van Gogh. I was moved to tears of joy & sorrow. Really well done. The music added to my enjoyment. Very pleased I did the VR. I was with friends, we all loved it.

Brilliant, relaxing, inspiring. Loved every bit of it. The virtual reality was something else. I took my 2 kids to enhance their art appreciation classes at home. We all enjoyed it and it really brought Van Gogh work alive, quite literally. Would love to see other artists work in this way!
