We were immersed in a new & most interesting, therapeutic experience. A fabulous way to view and consider art (not usually my thing) - the projections are amazing, and fit very well with building in which they are displayed The life history of Van Gogh is also illustrated and linked with his paintings An interesting and worthwhile hour

This was the best thing we saw on our visit to York. So clever. I’ve always admired Van Goghs work but this immersive experience just enhanced the whole exhibition. So hard to describe - you just have to go and see it for yourself.

Throughly enjoyed the Van Gogh experience in York yesterday, I would have preferred to see the gallery of Van Goghs paintings and the information on his life and works prior to going into the immersive experience instead of after.

An amazing experience to view his work and lovely staff. Only disappointment were the headsets which when viewing the film were blurred .

I’d been wanting to see this for a while and got the chance I unexpectedly on a visit to York. I took my 7 year old who aspires to be an artist, and she loved it. I didn’t expect her to sit for the whole 35 minutes but she did, and really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. She drew her own minimalist version of Starry Night afterwards, then we tried the VR experience too, which was absolutely stunning. Would love to go again.

Van Gogh for the Tik Tok generation? Several very bored infants running wild. Would not recommend for Adults. If you have £15 to spend on Van Gogh, a good biography or the Letters to Theo would be a better buy.

I had heard good things about the experience before seeing it for myself. Not disappointed. Very well done, enjoyable to watch and relaxing at the same time. I recommend the optional VR experience at the end which was great. It was nice to see the wall of people's Van Gogh pictures and have the chance to colour or draw your own. Some steps to negotiate but does have access for wheelchairs. Very friendly and approachable staff.

The experience overall was very good. A bit more explanation before hand would be helpful regarding what else there was after the 360 degree experience ie area for kids , art exhibition , history to decide on how long to stay I. Experience . Overall very interesting

It was a really nice activity to do on a rainy Sunday in York. However £15 was way too expensive for a 35 min projection.

It was an excellent experience. It was such an insight into the paintings, mind and life of Vincent Van Gogh. Eye opening to say the least.

Met up in York with friends and booked the Experience on line. While the projection is on a loop, it didn't matter too much where you 'came in'. Great effects and pleasant accompanying music. The little reconstruction of his Arles bedroom was also well done. The latter part with information boards and examples of his paintings gave more flavour of his latter couple of years. Highly recommended.

Great experience but be sure to do the VR at the end. Well worth the extra £3. Could only have been improved by the display being on the ceiling too.

Attended the Van Gogh Experience at York in June 2023. Loved the selection of art works shown and the music and narration. All combined to make me feel that I was inside each of the scenes. Animations were brilliant, subtle and clever.

Projections were good. Too many people booked into one session as there was a lack of seating for a while and people were getting in each others way for the rest of the exhibit.

Very much enjoyed the exhibition and highly recommend the VR experience which was the highlight for me. Maybe a minimum age entry restriction or child specific entry time could have helped engage more with the information. Sadly young bored children and toddlers crawling about the floor, minded by their slightly older siblings in lieu of parents/adult supervision, was not conducive to fully enjoying the experience.

It was a fascinating and different way to look at Van Gogh’s work, bringing the movements in his works to life, and to hear some of his thoughts on art, life and nature. The VR part was amazing!

Only 1 room of light projection images . Through to a room where you can pay extra for a virtual experience! Then a few boards of info on Van Gogh to read - the end ! Went to a light show at Lincoln Cathedral the week before , half the price and 10 times the size . A real let down .

We enjoyed the experience, especially the VR goggles. We didn’t think we should have to pay extra to use the goggles however.
