Over 100 dancers and musicians bring Nutcracker to life with exquisite dancing, beautiful sets and Tchaikovsky’s popular score played live.
On a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world, where she battles with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger. As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glistening Land of Snow where her adventure really begins.
From the sound of the orchestra tuning up, to the final bows and cheers, a trip to English National Ballet at the London Coliseum is an unforgettable Christmas treat.
English National Ballet’s Nutcracker returns for four weeks only, following sold out performances in 2018, 2017 and 2016 – book early and make Nutcracker part of your holiday celebrations.
What a wonderful afternoon watching the ballet - the performance was outstanding.
I took my 7 yeqr old granddaughter on Saturday 4th January we both enjoyed it hugely. If we could change anything it would be to have had Clara present on the stage in the 2nd act. There were times when we had to remind outrselves that the 2 parts were connected.
This ballet has become part of our Xmas, and where possible we always try and see a performance. This one was beautifully danced, the whole cast wee excellent, this was a highly enjoyable performance that we thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend this to anybody and would hope they too come to enjoy this ballet as part of their Xmas celebrations too.
The ballet was enchanting and the first half particularly engaging for children - my 5 year old grandson loved the humourous bit and the action [ we had read the story and so he was expecting the Mouse King!] and he loved the end of the section with the hot air balloon [ will we know what happens to them?] However, the second half was not as exciting for children and I noticed a lot of children were restless and we had to keep him engaged by pointing out what was happening. It was possibly just a bit too long
Beautiful performance, perfect way to end the festive season. Particularly impressed with the child performers.
Pure magic from start to finish. Wonderful interpretation and inspirational dance from all the cast.. A truly wonderful evening.
Junior members were awesome. Especially tiny toy soldier
My first ballet show... I was worried I might get bored but absolutely not. A vivid, entrancing show that kept me in awe and amazement throughout. A feast for the eyes. Highly recommend!
After watching The Nutcracker at Royal Albert Hall 2018, I found this version dull and lacking in comparison. This is the first time I have left a production without feeling excited and saying "That was spectacular!!". The first half started off with a wonderful backdrop and beautiful period set and gradually dulled form there. Second half I noticed some people left and I myself was a bit disappointed. The dancers gave an incredible performance, the orchestra was absolutely grand and the choir sang like absolute angels which is why I have given 4 stars (they deserve many more for their performance, hard work and many hours rehearsing!)
This was truly beautiful! The set, the costumes and the dancing of course! Absolutely delightful!
an excellent production!
Fabulous ballet .second half particularly amazing. Costumes and orchestra spectacular
Very good but I felt the chorus was a bit untidy..
Excellent but would have liked a little more story to it and a little more colour in the beginning
I have seen many Nutcrackers over the years but not this choreography - totally charming and a very appropriate New Year Treat
Outstanding performance. Surpassed all expectations. Will definitely book for next year.
My daughter and I were thoroughly captivated by this magical ballet. The performance was beyond all our expectations.
Magical - my soon-to-be six year old grand-daughter was mesmerized. Hopefully, she will be suitably inspired.
This is an excellent production and of the highest quality. We have been returning to see the performance for several years and it has become a family tradition.
We have seen the Nutcracker several times on New Year’s Eve. We see it as a magical way of ushering in the New Year. It is a magical piece of storytelling through ballet that can be enjoyed by anyone. The English Ballet brings the story to life with stunning sets, spectacular costumes and fabulous choreography and brilliant dancing. Each year the interpretation is different and brings its own whizzbang.
What a great show this is , the dancers are so talented and the music it superb. I’m so glad we paid out for the tickets it was the highlight of our Christmas. We were all spellbound the moment the curtains opened . The only negative is the price of the ice cream , £4 for a small tub . Will go again .
I have to say generally I am not a ballet fan but this I love. The set is elegant and delightful, costumes, music and choreography all brilliant. The youngest grandchild (5+) found the first act a little long (understandable given his age) but the others were engrossed in the story.
We really Enjoyed the Nutcracker !!!!!! our seats were very in view with the stage . good value
It was well worth the effort of coming up to London to see this amazing performance. From Cara to King Mouse and all in -between it was just superb not forgetting the orchestra who as always in “fine voice”. Thank you all including all the rest of the company and staff
I have seen the Nutcracker a number of times and this year I went with my daughter in law and 5 year old granddaughter. Usually it is very colourful and full of jest with Clara traveling through the forest to a sweet filled extravaganza of dance, led by the sugar plum fairy. We found this production very dull and disappointing, the sets were dreary, and the Sugar Plum Fairy seemed to be over looked, my granddaughter waited for her and as she flitted across the stage one blink and you would have missed her. There was no magic in the second act and seeing the individual dance with a blank dreary stage and backdrop left a lot to be desired; my granddaughter fell asleep before the end it was so boring. The ENB should be able to put on a much better production than this. Apart from it being a waste of money and time it didn't make a 5 year old want to see it again; we won't give up though we will go back but next time to the ROH where the production is always stunning.
Beautiful performance with talented dancers
Was wonderful beautiful
Brilliant new version
Beautiful staging, set design and costumes. The dancers make it look effortless. A lovely show but balcony seats do have a restricted view if not central. We could not see sides of the stage - where there was action happening. Not aware of this prior to booking.
An enjoyable evening, beautiful dancing and costumes, the only complaint was the theatre was far to hot 🥵
Took my mum and daughter to see this wonderful ballet. We were not disappointed. Absolutely brilliant thank you to all the dancers. We all have a fantastic time.
I took my Grandaughter to see The Nutcracker, and she sat still through the majority of it......which is a compliment in itself!
Very professional and enjoyable performance! Your cast/dancers certainly gave of their best and their effort and eagerness to please was most apparent. Staff also most helpful and efficient. Our sincere thanks to everyone involved.
I loved yesterday's performance of the Nutcracker. The dancers were phenomenal and Tchaikovsky's beautiful music, played to amazing standards. Lots of emotions and a fantastic experience. Thank you
Excellent, enchanting matinee performance on Sunday, the 29th. December, 2019. The 'backdrops' were not up to their usual, colourful high standard.
First time ever at the ballet. Enjoyed every single moment. Thinking this might well become a Christmas tradition. Superb 10/10
An excellent show with great seats
Absolutely stunning performance and music was hypnotic
The dancers were amazing the problem was with my seat.
I don’t think I enjoyed ballet so much. Full of fun, beautiful costumes and great performance all around.
Nice show of this magnificent play
Fantastic festive experience
beautiful breathtaking ballet!!!
I found this production to a lesser standard of previous years. The castings were good as were their performances. Also the music was to its normal high standard. However, I found the set not to your normal standards and I thought some of the costumes lacking and not as colourful as previous years.
Unrestricted view, beautiful venue. Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition in London and provides a slice of magic in the heart of busy Covent Garden.
