  On reading the text of the play, with its many stage and acting directions, and it's setting in the heat of Mexico, you could be forgiven that it would be hard if not impossible to stage on a cool evening in England. But the company did a sterling job. While all the performances were brilliant, a special mention goes to Clive Owen, whose power and restraint was pitch-perfect.

  Takes you far away from your own life and into their lives as they grapple with their demons. Worth seeing. Atmospheric. The sexism of the time interesting too.

  Very powerful. Takes its time to build up but it’s worth the effort. There are 4 main characters who are all quite lonely in their own ways. There is a somewhat positive ending though, with a new beginning for 3 of them. Lots of peripheral chapters add interest, colour and some amusement. The set is very much part of the play.

  They tried hard ---but the whole set up, from content to acting, was unconvincing and did not hold our attention. We were disappointed. Voices were either shouting, or too soft. the interaction between the characters just did not work for (the 3 of) us

  Really enjoyed the production and the SFX etc which made it all the more atmospheric and Tennessee Williams-esque!

  A wonderful cast and a tough lead role played very well by Clive Owen (even if his American accent wandered occasionally). It was a slow starter and sagged in a couple of places, but was generally enjoyable viewing.

  Refreshing scenography. Great A.Gunn's interpretation of the role. You need to have a good sense of T.Williams play to appreciate the play properly!

  I really enjoyed this production, even though it did not quite draw me in emotionally as I had hoped. The elaborate set worked wonderfully. The performances of the two lead actresses were great, especially Li Williams/Hannah. I felt that Clive Owen, who I admire greatly as an actor, struggled with the American accent and that this took away a little from his performance. Julian Glover was a joy to watch at any moment. The smaller roles, especially the Germans and the two Mexican boys, were perfect in their parts and wonderful additions, sometimes almost stealing the show. Would I recommend this show? Absolutely!

  Like the title states, the acting was superb (I wasn't expecting it to be any different, these are seasoned actors). The performance in its entirety was not lacking anything and I truly felt Williams' vulgar and raw vibration pounding as the actors embodied the characters. Stage craftmanship was next level! And the sound effects as well as lighting, one of the best I have seen. You genuinely felt the thunder rattle your bones and the pitter patter of the rain on the wooden veranda. This was my first introduction to Williams' plays and I must say, I was not disappointed.

  Totally believable and charismatic performances from the three leading actors. Some of the minor characters veered towards two dimensional caricatures (partly down to the writing) The staging was ingenious and the lighting and sound added enormously to the impact of the piece

  Took my Mother-In-Law & Daughter to see this production at the Noel Coward Theatre Sat 24/8 it was, however, a very hot day 31 degrees so aircons used in this Theatre was most appreciated! The show was a little slow to start and end however, some humorous moments in between which got the audience more engaged and laughing! Was expecting more performance and drama but was more dialogue so you did have to concentrate in order to follow the storyline but overall was a good play and all featured did a good job!

  In this production of The Night of the Iguana the set depicts a tiny settlement clinging to a massive outcrop of rock. This symbolises the characters in the play who are precariously clinging to existence. The damaged Larry, finds a repressed soulmate in Hannah but it is clear that for Tennesee Williams the sensitive are doomed to make their journey through life alone. The play seems more experimental than some of his better known works. The happy but totally insensitive and obnoxious German family act almost like a chorus to emphasise that not everyone is crippled by angst. Much more humane Maxine represents the sensual pragmatist but our sympathies remain with Larry and Hannah. At least Williams ends with a glimmer of hope when the not very talented grandfather dies happily after at last completing his poem. Beautifully acted and timed to perfection this was a fascinating production to watch. Many thanks to all concerned.

  Having seen Night of the Iguana on several occasions over the past forty years, I can say without hesitation that this the best production Ive seen of a play I love. The acting was wonderful, it was a truly pleasurable afternoon at the theatre.

  This was a splendidly acted and staged version of The Night of the Iguana. As with all Williams's plays we have a collection of sinners (no saints!) who demand our attention and gain our sympathy. My single reservation is about the Nazi family: they are an embarrassment. There is enough humour in Williams's dialogue; we do not need such stereotyping, and Williams included it as it was a current issue in 1961. The director chould have ditched it. But overall an excellent production, and the three main actors were excellent.

  Everyone was excellent. The German family were hilarious and following on every performance was superb. It was a play they kept one entranced from beginning to end.

  The set design was a magnificent brooding force dwarfing the repressed emotions of the actors. The evident humour was I guess direction and interpretation of the play. The leading actors were sensitively emerged in their characters. Great to see Clive Owen back on the English stage. His duologue with Tia Williams beautiful confession towards the end of the play was emotionally moving. A must see fine production and outstanding performances.

  Interesting play with a damaged man as centre stage, usually damamged women with TW but well acted,, A little too long and the tension sagged in the second half for me,, but well worth seeing as not performed in Wesgt end much

  This is one of Tennessee Williams's less frequently performed works.This new production certainly does justice to the play. The performances were excellent.Clive Owen brought a beaten up charm of sorts to the delusional and self-pitying Shannon. Owen has a very charismatic stage presence and a resonant delivery. Lia Williams was a revelation as the deceptively 'mousy' spinster Hannah, who delivers some of the play's best lines. Anna Gunn was also very convincing as the rather washed up hotelier Maxine. A mention too for the stage design- brilliant- also raher apt on a humid London summer evening! I thoroughly recommend this production.

  Absolutely brilliant - a mesmerising portrayal of an uncomfortable story in everyway be it acting, stage scenery, effects or costume. Funny, worrying, cruel, kind and sad - Tennesse has been done proud here. This is a must see

  Not a big fan of the play itself but overall very happy to have watched it. The acting was really great, each one of the main actors put a lot of effort in building the characters. I also liked set design, sound and weather effects. It’s quite a long show (about 3 hours including the interval), well done everyone!

  Absolutely loved this version. Saw the Richard Burton film in the 60's but much better seeing it on the stage. The set was very inventive and all the cast gave very creditable performances. But of course the shining star was Clive Owen. Outstanding

  Great play & presentation of feelings of human despair & isolation yet finding way through it encountering another. Loved the actors & set. Old theatre beautiful, not too big.

  We saw the show on Monday and it’s still work in progress. Too long and cumbersome. Particularly the 2nd act and the (boring) final delivery of the poem. By Nonno. Almost killed me. Some good performances (the female characters were the best) but for me Clive Owen was over wrought and not very believable.... the role needs more subtlety.
