A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood...
Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the high-spirited Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?
Songs, laughs and monstrous fun for children aged 3 and up and their grown-ups, in the much-loved show that’s toured Britain and the world! Running time 55 minutes (no interval)
Absolutly brillant, myself and children loved it. My 4yr old has never sat so still. Perfect for everyone, had us all laughing. Actors were so good and funny. Thank you
My daughter is 3 years old and she didn’t enjoy so much the show. I was disappointed with the actors clothing, because they run a show for kids they suppose to wear some colourful costumes. The performance was good, just luck of proper costumes didn’t capture kids attention :(
I took my 3.5 year old to see this and it was entertaining for us both... especially the snake! The actors have great energy and if it wasn't for the seats (front row of the dress circle) this would have been a 5* review. I'll definitely be looking out for the production company when they put on "The snail and the whale" and "Oi Frog" at the Apollo :-)
Lovely interactive show, it was my daughters first trip to the theatre and she loved it! Missed the facepainting which was a shame, maybe this could also be booked in advance?
Really enjoyable, kids loved it and were able to get involved and sing a long. Really recommend for a fun day out
Took my great niece 5 and great nephew 3. They both absolutely loved the show ... as did my husband and myself. The cast worked so hard and it was lovely to hear all the children joining in. I had to reatrain myself as I got a bit carried away .
The performance was good however I think the characters could have been a little more realistic. The biggest problem was.the sheer noise of children and parents who didn't respect other were trying to watch and people.with phones. It was unreal and nobody policeing it
I took my two and a half year old Grandson who was glued to his seat for the entire performance, enjoying the whole performance. His favourite characters were the mouse and the Gruffalo! A wonderful introduction to the theatre at a young age. Ran for just the right length of time.
Very Good. Good interaction with the Audience representation of the characters. Our 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter loved it. Only negative comment is that the Gruffalo costume could have emphasised his physical attributes more. eg Jaw, Tusks, purple spikes, teeth and boil! However, would thoroughly recommend it.
great performance made everyone (adults and children) laugh whilst also still being true to the original story and script etc
Loved the music and singing! It attracted kids attention -3 years old boys- for the first 15 mins and then they started to ask why grafollo is not coming out yet. Would be great if it’s more compact and , at the end that grafollo would be able to come down to kids even if just run around.
We went with our 4 years old and we all enjoy very much, singing along the songs. Our child loved the idea of the Mexican snake ;0 couldn't stop laughing!!!!!
Kids loved it– a must see :)
Good seats for the price. Audience participation appropriate. Diction by mouse and fox actors in some dialogue and songs was unclear at times If I couldn't understand what they were saying /singing, I am sure my 5 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter couldn't either. Story teller/ Gruffalo was on the mark in his diction and role play. Just the right level of scariness and yet 'cuddly'. No oversell re: programmes and souvenirs. One child's ticket free and 'children eat free at Bills' with show tickets. Plus the Changing of the Guard, Lego world and a glimpse of our PM. Altogether a very very successful day. Good luck with your next venture.
My Granddaughter loved it but was sad there was not the opportunity for a photo with the characters at the end.
Lovely show. Entertaining even for an adult. My 4yo loved every minute and asked me if there will be a Gruffalo's child show as he would love to go and see that
Excellent actor’s really made the story special with little extra lines they added which were very funny. Is a must see.
Well done ! An Excellent production!
Excellent productions, the actors were very animated and kept us all entertained! We initially booked it for my four year old daughter, but my other two daughters aged 1 and 9 equally loved it! They loved the singing and all the actions! The stage was set out well, all in all we thoroughly enjoyed it. The production was an hour in length so it didn’t drag on which was great!
I went to see the show with a 4 year old and I must say that he was a bit disappointed. We expected more puppetry or cartoon-style costumes and it was difficult for him to get excited with the adult actors despite them being good. I think everyone from our group expected at least the Gruffalo himself to be resembling the one from the story book and kids got a bit disappointed. I would recommend this show for kids over 6 years of age.
The show didn't live up to expectations. The last show we came to see at the Lyric was Gangsta Granny. A hard act to follow! The Gruffalo costumes were poor, there was no change of scenery and it felt at times as though we were at a pantomime. Unsurprisingly, the theatre was almost empty!
Took my 4 year old son to see the show, he adores The Gruffalo. He was very happy with it and so it makes me happy too! Really fun show! Well done 🤙🏻
I took my 3 year old grandson. He was completely mesmerised by the show . The music & the the performance were quite humorous & toe tapping
Went off script from the book a few times but in a good way as the kids loved it. High energy, engaging, fun. Worth a visit. We’ll be at the Christmas show for sure...
We loved your production. Two adults and a 15 year old boy. Humour was great, as tailored for the adults watching with their children. Brilliantly done ✅
Great show. Perfect duration to keep little ones entertained. Story told well with fun songs added in.
I felt the actors were fantastic and really animated! However the meeting of the animals was a little too long and dragged on quite a lot. My three year old lost interest in between. I think a faster pace would help keep younger ones engaged with their favourite story!
My favourite character was the mouse, she's clever and I wanted to take the Gruffallo home..he's a big teddy bear! It was light ,fun ,clever ,imaginative enjoyable songs..snake was funny made me laugh. Lovely show. Thankyou. Mum.
A lovely and ideal show for the little ones mine 4-8 they enjoyed the songs and the show entirely. Not sure if it's a good idea to take the very little children as the younger ones were very unsettled throughout and it kind of ruined it for most trying to watch(sorry) I know it's hard, but maybe take the kids when they're over 4. Good show but perhaps a little too pricey.but then again it is London
We all loved it
My three children (3 year old and twin 9 year olds) all loved this show. My little one loved the Gruffalo himself and my older ones picked up on some of the older humor (there's lots of it!) I absolutely loved it and recommend it to all Gruffalo lovers!
We thought the whole show was excellent from start to finish . Thoroughly recommend it to take your children to see it . Our 5 year old really enjoyed the show and was entertained .throughout . Will try and get to see their next production .
