A new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s multi-award winning musical is returning to The London Palladium in summer 2019 for a strictly limited run!
BAFTA and Olivier Award-winning actress Sheridan Smith stars as the Narrator in the eagerly anticipated revival, with Jason Donovan returning to The London Palladium in the role of Pharaoh, alongside newcomer Jac Yarrow in the iconic role of Joseph.
Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of the world’s most beloved family musicals. Released as a concept album in 1969, this multi award-winning show has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway, international tours and productions in over 80 countries!
The original Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice collaboration, the show continues to delight huge audiences annually, performed by amateur and schools groups and professionally in concert halls, arenas and theatres around the world.
Told entirely through song with the help of the Narrator, the show follows the story of Jacob’s favourite son Joseph and his eleven brothers. After being sold into slavery by the brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the advances of Potiphar’s wife.
While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled showman, the Pharaoh. As Joseph strives to resolve Egypt’s famine, he becomes Pharaoh’s right-hand man and eventually reunites with his family.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat reviews
This was a fantastic production of Joseph. Sheridan Smith was an absolute delight! I enjoyed the new twist on the role of the narrator and thought that it was done well and the added humour didn’t detract from the story. Jack Yarrow was fantastic, what a beautiful voice!! Joseph is my favourite musical and this production did not disappoint! I would highly recommend it, great cast, loads of energy, the music is fantastic! Wish I could see it all over again!
Amazing! The second time I have seen it. The first being the opening night. Great cast!
Sheridan Smith is outstanding and steels the show. What a voice. We saw the original over 30 years ago with Jason Donovan. Very modern take on a fantastic show. Came out buzzing
The show, and especially Sheridan Smith, was fantastic. The whole ensemble had really gelled and you could see what a thrill it was for them to be performing. Well done
Spectacular show from start to finish. Best i've ever seen! Incredible cast and all so supportive of each other. A pleasure to watch - totally captivating. Didn't want it to end!
Have seen Joseph many times with Jason ,Phillip and many other leads This was another excellent production, loved Jason and Sheridan and Jac did a great job as Joseph . I only have one negative comment, and that was at the end when Joseph puts his coat on,there was no fan out of the coloured coat as in previous productions , Jiust a few streamers chucked out. Massively disappointing!
Superb cast, fabulous performance in a hot night!
A slightly different take to bring the show up to date. Sheridan Smith bringing personality and humour to the narrator role. Superb arrangement of music and Joseph role played by the understudy was fabulous. Jason Donovan was an added bonus to the whole show.
The seats were good but the show was such a let down - the costumes garish, the singing average and dancing uninspiring ! I had expected it to be brilliant considering the number of years it has been going on for but really disappointed ...
I brought my 2 daughters (aged 21 and 17) to see the show and we all loved it ! I had the added privilege of being my 3rd time (1970 with the school - Paul Jones as Joseph!, 2nd time was Phillip Schofield back in the 90s!) This show was amazing. Great cast and overall a brilliant performance! Thank you! X
An upbeat, fast paced, humorous show. All performances were exceptional
Sheridan Smith completely stoke the show, absolute legend
Excellent from start to finish
Great show with wonderful Sheridan Smith but unfortunately couldn’t hear a word Jason Donovan sang otherwise fantastic show
Absolutely amazing performance. Every number is a show stopper
From the beginning, right through to the end, every part of the show was just amazing! True professionalism from all involved. We all left with a happy smile, a real uplifting and memorable evening. We will definitely rebook soon and recommend the show to everyone! Well done cast xx
What a great night out and what a great production! Well worth the money and such an amazing performance from the cast ! Superb !
Joseph and the technicoloured dreamcoat is our (and for many) the best musical. The colours and diversity of the songs keep it exciting and enjoyable. Jason Donovan was a great addition and the casting for Joseph and the brothers was fantastic. Sheridan Smith had a great show and she is a great talent. Despite this, me and my partner feel there must be so many more talented people that would fit the narrator role better. The west end is the pinnacle of musical theatre and we feel having household names and an overly large child cast, it can lower the standard that we expect. Dare I say, it felt a bit more pantomime than west end.
Great cast choices, excellent music and a good story. The set was excellent too. WELL DONE everyone.
It was great the actors were amazing ja
Well loved stage play, fresh and fun from start to finish, what energy!
Absolutely fantastic show
Truly amazing loved it 24 years ago and still sensational, Sheridan smith was incredible and so much fun, one if the best shows ever!
Great show Sheridan Smith absolutely brilliant
The name of the show should be called Sheridan and Her Technicolor Dreamcoat. At every turn the overbearing Sheridan tried to steal the limelight from a very talented Jack Yarrow and superbly talented dance and chorus line - the kids were adorable and brought the tale to life. This pantoesque layer she brought is just not needed to what would have been a solid 5* performance on the West End - save it for Christmas......
Entertaining and fun
Amazing performance. Jac Yarrow was especially good.
It was fantastic. What a performance by Sheridan Smith. Loved it. Thank you
An amazing, clever, well put together and performed exceptionally well by all. Great location, excellent facilities and environment.
Absolutely Amazing Show. Joseph Jason Sheriden were brilliant we was kept entertained from start to finish
This was a brilliant show! I have seen two other versions, both good, but this was by far the best. The narrator part played by Sheridan Smith was so unique. She commanded the stage, sang beautifully danced energetically and kept the audience laughing on so many occasions. The part of Joseph was cast perfectly as the young man had such a wonderful voice and was equally energetic moving to the dance routines. The standing ovation at the end was well deserved and many people stayed behind as the orchestra played a medley of tunes as people departed
Brilliant all round performance from all the cast and orchestra. Sheridan Smith, out of this world
I saw the original stage show and loved it! I've just seen the revised stage show and loved it! One slight criticism - whilst Sheridan Smith does a very good job as the Narrator, we felt it unnecessary for her to also take on various other roles. The Narrator has a very strong part alone, but the changes have made it become a bit of a 'Sheridan Smith Show', and whilst the remaining cast members are brilliant, it does tend to detract from them slightly. But this is only our opinion and we still loved, loved, loved the show! Definitely recommend seeing it! Go! Go! Go! ;-)
A lot different from original but just as good
Fantastic show. Hugely talented cast. Slick and funny. So impressed with Jac as Joseph- what a talent and Sheridan Smith was brilliant. An absolute must see!
I saw the 80's Version many times with many lead Jospehs , fortunately I have been reading the reviews on this version so was prepared it had been changed with the updated modern version . It is different but equally as good and I'm mighty glad I have another visit already booked for August . All the old songs are still there for the die hards xxx
Absolutely fantastic- didn’t want the show to end
A Fantastic show with all the cast members contributing to its success I could have sat for hours listening to the familiar music
Worst production ever Sheridan Smith totally ruined it
An amazing performance and beautiful colours a best musical a ever seen. Great experience, lovely theatre and full theatre, public amazing and best evening.
Excellent, everyone in the performance gave a 100%
Wow! Energy and joy- and that was the audience- fantastic cast ownership and Sheridan Smith was vibrant, cheeky and beautiful.
Having looked forward to this event for over 6months EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING Such an important biblical account should never have been turned into a "slap-stick" comedy event without advising all potential ticket buyers of the intended version being presented and that we had to sit through. I wish I hadn't spent over £100 on a ticket to watch the shambles made of this wonderful story. I dont think they could have rushed through the story any quicker if they tried. What they should try, is sitting in the audience listening to the rambling noise they made most of the time as they verbally rushed through time to allow for what? of all things "an Elvis stunt" Appalling as far as I am concerned and Extremely Disapointing.
Fantastic show and a great entertaining version. The whole cast were sensational but, Sheridan Smith really was outstanding bringing a wonderful comedic element and clearly loved doing it. Even if you've seen Joseph before, as I have, I would thoroughly recommend seeing this version, it really was that good.
We went to the 2.30pm performance on Saturday 13th July. It was absolutely fantastic! All cast were brilliant, the guy who replaced Jason Donovan for the performance did so with ease, a true pro. Special mention for newcomer Jac Yarrow, what a star and what a voice!! Would see it again, worth booking.
This was brilliant, Jac Yarrow is a young man who I am sure we will hear more of. Amazing Presence and voice. Can't wait to see him again.
Me and the wife have now seen it 3times and I have to say this was the best.we wanted to see Sheridan smith cos she lives nere us and we wanted to see her in real life and she did not disappoint us she wa absolutely great.l also must say that the cast were great as well,I give it 10/10.
I was in the audience the first time when Jason Donovan played Joseph. I loved it then and loved it now. Jac Yarrow was fantastic . What a voice. Sheridan Smith did not disappoint. Of course, Jason did a great job as the Pharaoh. My daughters and I want to come back..
