Katharine McPhee (American Idol, Waitress on Broadway, Smash) joins the WAITRESS London cast to play Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying run-in with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness.
Brought to life by a ground-breaking, all-female creative team, this Tony Award®-nominated hit features original music and lyrics by 6-time Grammy®nominee Sara Bareilles (“Love Song,” “Brave”), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).
“Waitress is a little slice of heaven!” says Entertainment Weekly, and is “sweet, sassy and passionate,” according to New York Magazine. Don’t miss this uplifting and hilarious musical!
I didn’t know what to expect from this show as went because my friend requested it. I was not disappointed, it was funny , sad and in its own way tackled social injustice and difficult subject matter. Great acting and singing, would highly recommend.
Very good musical. Great performers putting on great performances. Lots of humour. Credit to Marisha Wallace, what a voice, and Lucie Jones, on only her second performance in the role, would have thought she'd been doing it for years. Jack McBrayer as Ogie steals the show. Very funny guy. All in all very good, although a little negative against men in general.
Hilarious reality enjoyed it
Brilliant afternoon watching Waitress. All the cast were excellent and singing fantastic.
Funny, querky, emotional, sexual. Great performances, especially Katharine McPhee. Took a while to adjust to some of the squeakiness of some vocals. Definitely worth seeing
Emotive, hilarious and the most beautiful voices.
Great Show good value
Didn't know what to expect as hadn't read anything about the show but The Waitress is a feel good factor show, with some serious bits but definitely worth a girly evening at the theatre.
Before we went I heard rave reviews but didn't know anything about the show it's self. I was already a fan of Katherine McPhee from the hit series Smash. From start to finish the audience was captivated, the simple choreography complemented the piece and the vocal from everyone was sensational. Highly recommend this Musical would definitely see it again.
Production was good and funny but spoilt by a few things. Accustics were a bit distorted in the uncomfortable seating in the upper circle where you had to lean forward to see what was going on at the front of the stage. This was not helped by the very cold air coming down on our backs from the air conditioning. Someone did ask if anything could be done,in the interval, but this must have been ignored as more coats were being put on. Went home with a very painful back.
We loved it, it exceeded my expectations. The cast are brilliant.
What a wonderful show! Every single member of the cast was amazing, especially the leading lady who’s voice was so effortlessly stunning. I haven’t felt as many different emotions in such a short period. A truly amazing show that I could happily watch over and over again. A must see!
Treated my daughter and myself to this as Birthday treats. We were certainly not disappointed. The performance was very slick and whilst I loved Katherine McPhee in the lead role, all of the cast were superstars as well.
Great vocals, script, better than the film!
This show is fabulous and will bring out every emotion! The songs are beautiful, Katherine McPhee, the leading lady, is simply outstanding and has the most exquisite voice. I would highly recommend going to see “Waitress” - thé script is very funny and the storyline so original you wonder how no-one came up with the idea before. Book your seats now!
Funny, lighthearted, entertaining with some absolutely brilliant solos aswell as group songs. I saw this a few weeks after seeing company (which is apparently critically acclaimed) this was so so much better!
Waitress is a witty and warm show following a lonely waitress' journey into motherhood. With such a phenomenally talented cast, there was no way the story could've been told in any less beautiful of a way. Jenna's friendships are warm and supportive, the strings keeping her upright as she navigates an unwanted pregnancy, juggling an abusive husband and an affair, punctuating her story through new pie recipes. Sara Barielles' songwriting beautifully captures the complex emotions and story, sung so angelically and emotively. Waitress will transport you. Be ready to laugh, cry, and leave filled with impenetrable warmth.
Some excellant singing. As usual story thread very weak but we go for the music (band were very good) and singing. We thought this show was very worthy of the standing ovation and 5 stars. Kathreen was great in the lead
Sadly, I found Waitress raucous and rather silly. I couldn't hear the words of the songs as the music was so loud and quite honestly, I found the idea of the heroine falling for her doctor preposterous. The performances were energetic and entertaining but I didn't leave the theatre thinking I'd had a great afternoon.
All in all amazing. Sara Bareilles' voice and interpretation is out of this world!
This show was brilliant....much much better than I'd expected. Katherine McPhee was amazing, so effortless and pitch perfect. It was funny and sad ....all the cast were great.
So wonderful to see such a wonderful show. It was so funny and as an American I found the historical aspects hilarious. What a clever piece of work!
It was such a joy to come and be able to listen myself utterly in this performance. From beginning to end the cast, band and designers managed to create this pocket of a world that I didn’t take my eyes away from for a second. A beautiful balance of genuinely funny and heart wrenching writing, with a phenominal score woven through.
Great singing and choreography. Some v funny scenes. V enjoyable experience
As musicals go it was very good. However not suitable for my 13 year old due to done scenes if a sexual nature and adult theme.
Absolutely excellent show. Amazing singing voices ....... Story was gritty in places but very funny as well. Clever use of the musicians on the stage. I highly recommend it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Casting was great, performances excellent. Lovely way to spend an evening. Will go again.
A fabulous show with phenomenal songs and a great story. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was amazing!!!!!!!!! Couldn’t recommend it more!
Katherine McPhee is phenomenal, but so is the rest of the cast. A great evening of entertainment and a surprising storyline. This is a must see!
OMG!! This was absolutely spectacular, much laughter and a few tears along the way, brilliant cast and fantastic music. A massive standing ovation, the whole audience were on their feet. I want to go see it again!
I really liked the show, simple straight like a good bourbon. I missed some of the slangs but the singing was superb. Very happy of the sweet pie result!
The best musical I’ve seen in a long time. Staging, singing and acting great! Would definately recommend it.
both myself and my daughter thought the whole performance was brilliant Both funny and sad the singing was amazing would love to see it again would highly recommend going
What an amazing show. From walking into the theatre to the lovely smells to the amazing singing and story. Absolutely loved it
Beautiful, feel good music tells this sweet story of Jenna. Great acting and a brilliant set.
Best musical I've seen in a very long time. Beautiful set, incredible cast, ear-worm-y songs and all in all an amazing night out.
After having waited years for it to be in a venue that I could get to, I was visibly trembling when the music started. A fabulous ensemble piece of musical theatre. A story with friendship at it's centre, and the musicians featured in amongst it all. This is my favourite musical! Will be seeing it again.
I've just created a new word after watching this... Documusical. Emotional abuse, unwanted pregnancy, broken marriages, women's empowerment with a huge pie serving of fun and laughter, all the right ingredients for a documentary and musical in one. All main characters carried their own and were all superb, Nurse really came into her own as the show went on. Music ranged from country to contemporary Christian music, with typical power ballad song, slapstick comedy songs (with genius choreography to match) and the tear jerker song. A fab new musical, it will definitely sweep the awards season.
This was the perfect musical to watch during International Women's Day Week! Great show, realistic characters, awesome songs!
You will laugh and cry and sometimes cry laughing!! This is an amazing and charming musical. The first act finished and I got straight on my phone to book tickets to see it again because it is that good.
Absolutely amazing! Bought the tickets as a Xmas present for my mother and daughter and we all loved it! Great story, wonderful music, stunning performances from all the cast - we laughed, we cried and felt uplifted at the end! When can I go again?
We had no expectations but this was a fun show with excellent performances and singing. If we were to be really critical, some annunciation could have been better.
An excellent show. Would recommend it to one and all.
Absolutely love this show. It is funny, emotional and the music is great!
This is a brilliant show. Exceptional cast......wonderful vocals. I will be recommending it to family and friends.
The musical was one of the best musicals I have ever seen. Katharine McPhee is an incredible actress and has a phenomenal voice. I would definitely recommend people go and see it.
YAASSSSS! loved it - though disappointed I didn't buy the pie sooner - it was all gone when I got there
Waitress was so entertaining. The cast was brilliant, funny and extremely talented. Kathrine McPhee is such a star with a voice that will leave you with chills. This adorable tale into the life of a Pie baker will leave you smiling for days!
