Winner of 4 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, Come From Away has taken the West End by storm. Playing to nightly standing ovations at London’s Phoenix Theatre, Come From Away also continues sold-out, record-breaking engagements on Broadway, across the USA and in Canada.
This joyous new musical shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world that became grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.
As uneasiness turned into trust and music soared into the night, gratitude grew into friendships and their stories would become a celebration of hope, humanity and unity.
Awarded the Tony® Award for Best Direction of a Musical, Christopher Ashley’s production guides audiences through a colourful and spirited cast of characters, brought to life by Tony® and Grammy® nominated writing team Irene Sankoff and David Hein.
"This musical gets everything right. Irresistible and inspiring.” - The Times
"This miraculous masterpiece is totally, soul-feedingly wonderful." - Timeout
Great show! Very uplifting. The stage text (for those who don't know it's like subtitles) really helped to hear and get used to the different accents especially at the beginning.
Thought provoking, sad, funny, great music and singing. An all around entertaining show that dealt very well with the subject matter. Would recommend that you see it for the experience. Heart warming!!!
Fabulous! Moving! Funny! Brilliantly played. Fantastic music. Awesome band. Just amazing. Love love loved it!! Coming again as soon as possible
Wow. A rollercoaster of emotions through this heart warming and truly moving show. The cast were brilliant and led the audience to one of the most incredible standing ovations I have ever taken part in. A outstanding show remembering a truly awful event which brought out the best in human nature. Thank you. Elaine and Anne.
Wow!! I’ve never seen something so simple, and so effective. Completely relying on chairs to create different scenery, and setting was so effective. This is story-telling done so right! Will definitely be back to see it again and bring the family!!
Loved the music and energy. Would strongly recommend.
The stage setting was so simple snd the use of the chairs ingenious & so effective. The cast was brilliant; so energetic, great voices & excellent choreography. Such a polished performance with perfect timing! Music was great, especially the jam session at the end! Could have been a bit softer during the show, as it often drowned out the words in being sung. Storyline highlit some poignant issues, like racial prejudice & the tight bonds that I already knew existed between the fire-fighting fraternity internationally. Also how the most unexpected situations can open up new horizons, & how the whole community pulled together, uniting the most unexpected people! Always a silver lining to most clouds, as I’m just discovering at the beginning of a life-changing diagnosis and journey!
Excellent production a real feel good show!
Thoroughly enjoyable .Well acted and classy cast...definitely worth seeing
A funny, moving, clever, engaging performance
Fabulously Uplifting and a perfectly timed much needed reminder of the kindness in humanity
Better than Hamilton
A polished and fine tuned musical performance with clever lyrics delivered at a pace by a world of talented performers. Pity the view of the stage is obstructed by the person in front.
Awesome. Moving, funny and brilliantly done.
Everything about the show was fantastic. Great songs , wonderfully sung , superb choreography, funny , sad , thought provoking- never a dull moment , and a wonderful band - great to see them have their moment in the limelight at the end! A brilliant show!!!
From the moment the show started we were all captivated. Incredibly well performed show, with characters appearing all the time.
Wonderful performance, l was visiting Newfoundland on 911. An experience I will never forget. I was so proud of my country. The cast did such a good job telling the real story. I was glad it was only one act— I am not sure where you could have broken the story.
We are newfoundlanders and we were moved to tears
Very moving and funny, usually don't like the same set all the way through......but this was so cleverly done.Folks don't miss seeing this one !
Thank you for telling this wonderful story against the backdrop of 9/11 -it really showed how this 9/11 changed the world! I loved everything about this show! All I can say is wow!
this is the best show in london
It doesn’t really sound a very promising premise: a load of people landed on a small isolated community as a result of their planes being grounded following the Twin Towers attack. Depressing and full of bad taste pitfalls, you’d think. But it’s not like that. Whilst not glossing over ‘issues’, there was plenty that was uplifting and also funny and the show managed to avoid both bad taste and cheesiness. There was no one in the cast who was less than excellent and the whole thing was performed flawlessly, slickly (lots of complicated movements of props, changes of costume, choreography etc) and with a breathtaking energy. Well done all; well worth coming to see.
This is the third time I've been to this show. I've been with 3 different people and I treat it as a gift now.The story, the staging , the Cast, the Music, the Band . . . everything about this show is excellent , inspiring and life affirming. Go to see it with someone who's been doing it tough. It will stay with both of you and do you a world of good.
A delightful heart warming show about a real event - funny & joyful which restores your faith in people
Standing ovation at a matinee can only mean one thing ... great show!
I was not bothered either way whether I saw this show or not , in the end I decided to go and am so glad I did . What a fantastic show , worthy of all the awards it’s won . Go if you get the chance .
Was brilliant, moving and captured the raw drama of that time. Showed the best of humanity. Humorous and great cast.
So funny yet moving at the same time! Plus music was toe tapping excellence. I would not hesitate in seeing this amazing show again it was so cleverly done with a great cast!
This is not a musical as you know it. It is not a play as you know it. Instead it is 100 minutes or so of pure emotional roller coaster with some tears and laughter thrown in. A difficult subject yet so brilliantly portrayed by 12 talented actors who each took on several very different roles. Do not go expecting a musical. Go with an open mind and be sucked in to this wonderful strong portrayal of a few days that changed so many lives
This is a fantastic musical with a very real, factual and sad story embellished with a little bit of humour....so entertaining & to top it off the musical score and band were exceptional......I love the way the band finish off at the end of the show leaving the audience feeling completely exhilarated.....
This show was simply outstanding. As someone who was due to be in New York on September 11th 2001, my company used my hotel room for many staff as Manhattan was "closed". I was in Boston where many expected the John Hancock tower to be attacked. No one knew the extent of the action. Our staff in New Jersey watched the towers come down. All has medical issues for a few weeks after. The show depicted the fear and lack of understanding to all those on the planes. It also showed the kindness and amazing willingness to do anything for these travellers in trouble. The wonderful people of Gander were heroes at this time. This was a most moving play, very touching. The standing ovation was totally appropriate. The band finishing the show with their vibrant "Newfie" music was a great touch. Regards, Bill Gray
Joyous performance - impressed with the intricate timings required. Suitable amounts of pathos where necessary
This is the most wonderful show to remind us of our shared humanity. Don’t miss having your heart touched! It is the best show in town at the moment. This is the power of the arts.
Thoroughly enjoyable once you've tuned into the accents.
Didn't know what to expect but my friend & I were transfixed. Loved the show it just went too quickly & want to see it again.
Great show, funny, moving, relevant. Everyone should be able to see it.
I have seen the show 13 times. The storyline is quite brilliant. A heart warming tale arising from a great tragedy. The script, music , stage and choreography are superb. However what draws me back to the theatre is the energy that the cast exude. That energy is palpable! Rachel Tucker’s voice is amazing and she has made the song ‘Me and the Sky’ her own! Her performance last night was the best I have heard yet... Disappointingly secretary Kevin was out of tune as were a couple of the other understudies!
what a show. From start to end given the premise of the play there was laughter, great energy, brilliant vocals, band was amazing and just simply a great show.
Fantastic show. I live in Canada and I had four non Canadians with me and we all enjoyed it tremendously.
It ran the emotional gamut and had the packed house on its feet — not only for the ovations, but to clap in time and dance in the aisles. Awesome experience!
Enjoyable show. Quite entertaining. Unfortunately a large proportion of the dialogue was very unclear which spoilt our understanding.
Excellent show. Outstanding story, brilliant performance by all cast members, and music that enhances the story.
Lovely show, would see again.
I cannot recommend this enough. Lovely to see such a diverse bunch of actors. I don't usually go to musicals, but this is one I would go to again. Feel good despite the subject.
Fantastic show / content and talent of performers.congratulations ! .worth coming from Australia to see
An amazing, emotional, funny show. Top class acting, a show that will stay in my memory or a very long time
Everyone should see this amazing view of 9/11 & all the lives involved
A must see before it is gone. Acting, singing, story are all very well done
Absolutely amazing, wonderful story and great songs and music.
This is an an omnibus of sorts where lots of different stories of the various people affected by the 9/11 is neatly packaged and retold. It's a very positive and uplifting one, notwithstanding the grim backdrop.
