Don Quixote

Following its sell-out run at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2016 to mark the 400th anniversary of Cervantes’ death, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s ‘joyous’ (Guardian) production of this legendary comic novel is told by a company of 20 actors accompanied by a band of live musicians.

Adapted for the stage by James Fenton (The Orphan of Zhao, 2012) and directed by Angus Jackson (Oppenheimer, 2014 / ROME MMXVII, 2017) this ‘boisterous romp’ (The Times) arrives at the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited 14-week season from 27 October.

What is Don Quixote about?

Taking up a lance and sword, Don Quixote sets out on a hilarious journey across medieval Spain, defending the helpless and vanquishing the wicked. Hopelessly unprepared and increasingly losing his grip on reality, the romantic ideal of Quixote’s books seems further away than ever. Don't miss out on the chance to see this riotous exclusive production - book tickets today!

  • Best Show ever seen so far

    3 February 2019

I really enjoyed the show and would love to repeat it. The only thing which I am sad about is that I didn't get a booklet from the play because it was sold out.

  • Like a good pantomine

    31 January 2019

A fun production where the audience does not just spectate. Lots of humour, great acting by all the cast and good singing although tunes not that memorable. Clever puppetry. Prop changes amusing. It was a bit like a pantomime, very enjoyable.

Didn’t know what to expect when we went. Turned out to be hilarious. Absolutely loved it. Had us laughing and crying at the the end. All the actors were well suited to their respective roles. A great night’s entertainment.
