The Tiger Who Came To Tea
The Tiger Who Came To Tea
A musical play adapted and directed by David Wood, based on the book by Judith Kerr direct from a smash-hit West End season.
The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big, stripy tiger!
Following a smash-hit West End season, the tea-guzzling tiger is back on the road in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos! A stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem...,expect to be surprised!
David Wood OBE is undisputedly the country’s leading writer and director of plays and musicals for children. His many successes include The Gingerbread Man, BFG, The Witches, Meg and Mog, Spot and Babe the Sheep Pig.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show this morning. Earlier in the week I had thought if us buying the tickets was wise as I wasn't sure our 22 month old son would sit through it. I needn't have worried. He loved it and my husband and I thought it was well executed. We particularly enjoyed the tick tick scenes and the audience participation.

This is very harsh , however I feel this would have an impact that would benefit the production. The actress playing Sophie looks older than the actress playing her mother. Costume for the tiger is beautiful.

Took our son who is 3 years old to watch this as he loves the book. First theatre trip went very well and he was engrossed throughout and wasn’t scared of the tiger (as I feared he might be!). Definitely recommend this for kids age 3 and up

We brought our 5 year old grandson. He loved it. We even had to read the book at bedtime. Well done at getting it right at the level of all the little people in the audience. I was a bit cross that I had to pay £1 for a child cushion. After all it was a children's event.

I took my son for his 4th Birthday treat. The production was ‘OK’. The sound quality wasn’t great. The tiger was the star of the show but the audience weren’t overly engaged with the other actors. The ‘child’ looked older than the mother which I found distracting! Yes I know it’s ‘theatre’ but even so! It was very overpriced even with a free child promotion. All in all, my son enjoyed it to a degree but hasn’t mentioned it since returning home! As adults, we left unimpressed and out of pocket. Such a shame as it was a first experience of London and the theatre for our son.

I took my granddaughter, who has been reading this book, she was few month old. The life stage was similar to the book, so easy for child of 2.5 years to recognise all the part and the characters. Tiger was scary, but had a very friendly personality. The whole show was magical and very good representation of the book Thank you for this magical moment

Took my four year old granddaughter who loved it! Just the right length (55 mins)a nice mix of words and music, with repetition of songs that meant little ones could memorise, lively, engaging actors. And The Tiger was magnificent!

Unfortunately the producers called off this show (which the theatre says they've done for a number of their shows). No one told us so we found out on the day of the performance when we arrived for the show. A terrible experience.

Lovely performance that makes you feel like you're inside the book pages, or having a wonderful dream. The tiger is as tall as his kindness and it's impossible not to fell in love with it.

The tiger Who Came To Tea was a thoroughly enjoyable romp for my 5 year-old, myself and my elderly parents. It's an interactive experience where the audience is invited to participate in the proceedings, which we all did - with much enthusiasm! We came away feeling energised and uplifted by the experience.

Great show and the Tiger was wonderful and enchanted our 3 year old and 18 month old. Who ever thought of the tigers on sticks to wave didn't think of people sitting behind them or how annoying they are. A great first show for children
