Twinkling with festive spirit The Snowman returns for a record-breaking 21st year. Based upon the book by Raymond Briggs and the film, directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates, which has transported a generation of children and their families into the wintery world of a boy and his magical snowman.
With music and lyrics by Howard Blake, including Walking in the Air, design by Ruari Murchison, lighting by Tim Mitchell, virtuoso choreography by Robert North and direction by Bill Alexander; The Snowman is a heart-warming mix of dance, spectacle, storytelling, splendid sets and music performed by a live orchestra.

The Snowman reviews
It was lovely from start to finish and the little boy was brilliant.
Child friendly show not for adults very disappointed.
It's lovely to see the Snowman brought to life, but it wasn't quite all I hoped it would be. Felt like quite a bit of 'filler' to make it last longer. Lots of ballet which my son was very unimpressed by! I was hoping it would feel a bit more magical and that the staging would be more exciting, but it wasn't as impressive as I'd hoped. Lovely festive treat, but very expensive as I don't feel it's as impressive as most West End shows.
A magical show for young children.
I was concerned that my two year old daughter would not be able to focus and watch the whole show because it is 45 mins then a break and another 35. To my delight although she was tired, she was totally wrapt in the show and narrated all the way through clapping heartily at the end. I so enjoyed the show myself it was beautiful professional and stunning. Perfect mix of story telling and simple image and music.
Myself and 3 friends went i didn’t know anything about the story bit strange at first as know talking, but I soon got into the story and really enjoyed it
We took our 2.7 y/o with us thinking we may need to leave in between but he wanted to stay. He really enjoyed it and wanted to sleep with the snowman at night:). I would recommend it to kids as young as 2.5 if you know they can sit still if engaged. I personally enjoyed the costumes and the ballet parts.
Myself and my 6 year old son travelled from Dublin Ireland to see the snowman, starting from 6am we were exhausted again 2:30pm came... But it was totally worth it! The show from start to finish was just magical.... We can not wait to do it all over again...
Our party of varied age from 4 - 70 loved it!
I was very disappointed there was not one performer of color in the show. There were very few people of color in the audience. I was concerned for my grandchild. Not good in this day a d age.
Really great show it was very magical
What great fun for all the family. The theatre was full of little ones entranced by the staging of what must be one of the most iconic Christmas stories.
I went with my daughter-in-law & 3yr old granddaughter, we all really enjoyed it. I thought the music & dancing were lovely.
Absolutely amazing! My 5 year old and myself enjoyed the show very much.
Fab venue and very good production. Enjoyed by 4 and 9 year olds as well as the adults.
Excellent show very enjoyable dancing very good and ‘James’ very good
We took our 4 year old grandchild to see the Snowman and it was quite magical. He knew the story, but to see it live and choreo-graphed so beautifully made it more enchanting.
Amazing performance by the boy (possible Johnny Jackson or Cameron (difficult to see from a distance). Superb music with a fantastic orchestra. Such talent by all.
I took my 5 yr old daughter to see The Snowman on 28 December 2018. I thought it was a beautiful production, true to the story, wonderful music and dance. Overall it was a really magical show.
Had a great family time. Would highly recommend
The show was brilliant and everyone of the cast was great!!
A magical performance, full of great characters with amazing sets, lighting and music. A family tradition.
Magical show- we loved it!
My daughter thought it was fabulous, but as a mummy I was bored a few times. Is that natural? LOL!!
A beautiful show - ideal for families and young children. We went for my nephews and nieces who were entranced by it. The performers, musicians and production team created a lovely atmosphere and the theatre was the perfect place for it.
We took out 3 1/2 year old to see the snowman. She really enjoyed it. Each half didn’t seem too long. She enjoyed the bright colours and loved the effect of the snow. Very magical!
It's very good ...my son enjoyed it .
This show never disappoints I have seen it 5 times now with various grandchildren as they reached an appropriate age and each time I have been bowled over by the the look of awe and wonder in their faces. Can’t wait till the youngest two are old enough to go. It is magical for adults too.
Excellent outing, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Welcome change from children's pantomime (which often seems more designed for the adults in its humour!), and the ballet which is not for everyone. Production was splendid, choreography outstanding, atmosphere exciting. We will come again in 2019!
This show captivated my grandchildren aged 6 and 3 and I would recommend it to anyone. It was brilliant
We took our 3 year old neice to see the snowman. It was a fantastic production. Music, dancing and flying scenes were brilliant. However it was just a bit too long and not enough breaks for a 3 year old. Other parents of similar age children were also having difficulties and had to take the children out a few times or just left after half an hour. Think this is better suited to 5 year old plus.
So incredibly magical for children. The costumes were wonderful
I have seen this show serveral times over the years with my family but this year was fabulous! My 2 children were glued to it, we all were, such a fantastic performance.
Stunning production my little girl was mesmerized.
The show was a real treat for the grandchildren
absolutely fantastic show.My little girl love it and our friends where amazed.
I booked the snowman for myself and my wife hoping to relive the joy we both felt 36 yrs ago when we watched the animation at school as very small children. Unfortunately it didn’t have the desired affect! The play is absolutely fantastic for young children but to relive your memory’s as child it doesnt quiet hit the mark. All the actors especially the young boy were excellent, the orchestra was amazing And hit the famous “walking in the air” piece 100%. Overall 10/10 child’s production. maybe I should of taken the time to research a little bit more.
Nice Christmassy afternoon 😊
This was a birthday treat for our five year old and it was just a fabulous experience. The staging, the live music and the wonderful sense of fun throughout all combined to create a truly magical theatre experience. Our daughter absolutely loved the whole thing from start to finish. Thank you!
A most enjoyable performance, would recommend seeing. For all ages.
I took my 6 year old daughter to see this show. It was a present from my Dad for Christmas. The show was just long enough for little ones. Lots of different characters which had amazing costumes on. I recommend going. The show started about 7.00pm and with a 15-20 interval we got out about 8.45.
2 young Grandchildren Aaron & Daisy, were captured in wonderland for the whole experience. Bravo
I have been bringing the grandchildren over the last 7years and it never disappoints we all love it Even the 10 and 15 year still want to come as it means the start of Christmas to them Long may it run
My 3 year old grandson was entranced from start to finish. Cheerful friendly show, non stop music, flying, fast moving show with none the boring bits.house full, everyone happy.
What an amazing production of one of the most classic Christmas films. Beautifully done and so magical. Costumes were stunning! Very very sweet and thoroughly enjoyed every moment :)
We booked this as a Christmas Eve treat for our three boys ages 13, 11 and 9. We all really enjoyed the experience and the show was amazing. The perfect way to start the festive period.
