By the legendary Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg

“A masterful production… one of the best evenings of London theatre this year
” - Evening Standard

Vanya, together with his niece Sonya, has sacrificed his life managing the estate of Professor Serebryakov, his former brother-in-law and Sonya’s father. But when the Professor returns from the city with his glamorous young wife Yelena, tensions spiral as their world is thrown upside down.

Chekhov’s tragicomic masterpiece of dashed dreams and thwarted and eternal love returns to the West End in Lev Dodin’s definitive interpretation of this classic play.

A fine work well produced with no slick gimmicks and played ,thank goodness, in period. It would be good if this play and "Life and Fate" could go on tour around the U.K.

Last night at Uncle Vanya, was a wonderful experience. The production’s simplicity allows full impact from the actors, in a beautifully judged and moving performance. Congratulations to the company, more please!
