Who is El Hablador?

It’s Ross Noble.

No, but who is the one they call El Hablador?

I just said, it is Ross Noble. You know? Long hair, does stand up where he dances about the stage, spinning out all the nonsense in his head into a show.

But what is the legend of El Hablador?

I don’t think it’s a thing. It’s clearly Ross coming up with a name for his show, so he can make out like he is some sort of mysterious shadowy figure.

Ok I get it.

Ross Noble returns to dance around the stage spinning out all the nonsense in his head into a hilarious stand up show. At some point, he may wander into a shadowy part of the stage and look a bit shadowy.

Book now to see the one they call El Hablador!*

*Ross is the only one that calls himself El Hablador.

Hadn’t watched a routine of his for a long time: This was a procession of bespoke “shaggy dog”-style meaderings , with each cutting across the other to divorce the punch lines and pay offs from the root of the gag, by an exaggerated passage of time. The style was zany, often using manic outbursts and ranting to pin back friendly heckles, before inviting more contributions from the crowd. Noble is clearly a really warm man, despite trying to construct a madcap stage presence. Some moments of genius but too few really, given the length of his act. The convoluted shaggy dog construction proved too repetitive to sustain any comic suspense.

Despite a few moments of glee, Ross Noble's El Hablador was a let down. Noble has before been the master of improvisation, creating images and stringing tales of ludicrousness. Here however he couldn't move on. Whatever he thought was a winning joke could not be left to go on to the next one. My friend and I found time slowing to a glacial trickle during certain parts. I was really sorry to see this. This is my sixth time seeing Noble on stage. It may also be my last.
