What’s TINA – The Tina Turner Musical about?
Rock goddess Tina Turner has been nominated for an incredible 25 Grammy Awards, winning 12 across the decades. They include 8 outright wins, 3 Grammy Hall of Fame awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Her sell-out stadium tours have been seen by millions worldwide. Tina has sold more concert tickets than any other solo artist in music history. But how did this legend of Rock ‘n’ Roll rise from the church choir to become a global superstar?
TINA, The Tina Turner Musical follows this international Rock Icon from obscurity in Nutbush, Tennessee, through to her transformation into a giant of the music industry. TINA, The Tina Turner Musical is directed by Bafta Nominee Phyllida Lloyd, with a book by Olivier Award winner Katori Hall and is presented in association with Turner herself.
This gutsy new musical tells the no-holds-barred story of a woman who defies the rules of race, gender and age, to triumph as one of the greatest solo artists in history. From humble beginnings, singing in the congregation of a local church, Anna Mae Bullock (as Tina Turner was then known) marries Ike Turner, who shapes her early career. But their marriage is volatile and often violent. Yet somehow, Tina survives.
Despite her star quality, Tina then faces a music industry that is openly racist. Approaching forty, no record company will sign her. Then, in London, things begin to change, and Tina Turner’s career is reborn. This is the ultimate tale of strength, determination and triumph over adversity. If you didn’t already love Tina Turner when you arrive, you will when you leave…with the hits of this inspirational Rock Diva carrying you away on a wave of musical ecstasy.

Five Reasons We Love Tina Turner
1. Tina Turner was raised by her grandmother and triumphed despite a tough start in life.
2. Tina Turner became a Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist in 1971 and chants to help her endure difficult times.
3. For two years after her divorce from Ike, Tina Turner played small clubs and lived with friends to allow her to pay off debts. Now that’s strength.
4. Tina Turner sang Goldeneye, which we think is the best Bond Theme ever!
5. Tina Turner starred opposite Mel Gibson in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome as an imperious queen named Aunty Entity, who lived in a bird’s nest throne room. Camp? You betcha!
What Tina Turner says about the TINA, The Tina Turner Musical
“It’s really important to me to have the chance to share my full story. This musical is not about my stardom. It is about the journey I took to get there. Each night I want audiences to take away from the theatre that you can turn poison into medicine.”

TINA - The Tina Turner Musical reviews
I have been fortunate enough to have seen most of the major west end shows in London over the past forty years plus, and I have to say this is without doubt one of the best I’ve seen.
I would actually see it again it was that good
Show was that good I would see it again and again I would definitely recommend
Very happy, very beautiful music
Amazing ..Fantastic experience ,Tina Turner was incredible as was the rest of the cast .
Amazing show would definitely recommend going to see. It is a great night out with friends and family.
My husband and I saw the original TINA - The Tina Turner Musical and thought it was brilliant. I'm a huge Tina Turner fan and loved it so much I booked tickets to see it again. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled because of COVID. When I saw that it had come back again, I booked tickets as a birthday treat and we saw it on Wednesday. I hoped that this show would live up to the original which had been approved by Tina Turner. Sadly, I found it didn't, because there was too much dialogue and not enough songs. In addition, it had become too "woke". My husband and I thought that it had been changed from the original. I don't think I could recommend it to anyone.
This is the second time I've seen it brilliant show but both times when sitting in the back stalls I could hardly hear the actors when speaking they should wear microphones at these times I'm deaf in one ear and when I go to other shows I can hear them speak other than that I enjoyed it all
Tina is great, rest of cast adequate, script a typical tick-a-box collection of cliches. Great finale.
Most enjoyable!! I have seen it twice. Very entertaining!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the show would highly recommend.
Totally blown away, that incredible lady, not only looked like Tina, she sounded like Tina and moved like Tine, the audience participation was electrifying at the end of the performance, we have never experienced anything like this before
The show was great entertainment from start to finish. Individual performances were very good, but obviously Tina stole the limelight. The almost 3 hours passed in the blink of an eye.
We enjoyed the show very much. However, I was very disappointed that you did not respond to my email of 8 February, referring to our voucher for the postponed performance of 14 May 2022 - Booking Ref:20-CF-V4YA. I, therefore, had to book the 2 new tickets for 21 April at the higher price of £60 each without reimbursement of the original amount. Your response, please. Thanks, Ken H.
We enjoyed the Tina musical immensely. Aisha Jawando was phenomenal as Tina, not to mention the rest of the talented cast. Absolutely worth seeing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic musical- vocals, storyline and acting. Worth going to see. I took my mum for her and we both had a great evening.
Finally got to Tina the Musical 2 years after initially booking - definitely worth the wait - powerful story, great cast - my husband and I loved it.
Omg yday I went to see the show for the second time in a month To say that it’s an outstanding show would be a gross understatement the actors and performers dancers singers omg phenomenal and that girl who plays Tina is just a total QUEEN who totally owns that stage along with them all I cannot recommend that you see this vibrant show enough if seriously go again it’s THAT great ! All the top songs and a real back story to the show personally it’s the best show that I have EVER seen I thanks you all for such a great great show both times infact Thankyou seems not enough it was SIMPLY the BEST show that you simply must go and see ! I will not ruin it by giving out spoiler alerts all I will say is that if you don’t go you are seriously missing out on one god almighty show Well done to all the cast you really are simply amazing 🤩 you have ALL done yourselves so proud !
Fantastic show ,staff very friendly, thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. Thank you .
Amazing show, didn't want to end.
Very well written and performed. Music was fantastic
From start to finish this musical was exciting and entertaining. The cast were spot on epecially with their southern American accents which are hard to replicate. To be honest I'm not a theatre goer but our country music festival we go to ever year got cancelled so we decided to see Tina the musical at the last minute and I'm so glad we did! This is for people that are regular theatre lovers or first timers alike. Highly recommend
Loved it ! Sad story but well told and a very HAPPY ending ! 💕🙏
Didn't disappoint, we booked last minute due to the CV19 situation. This is the second time we have seen this show but the other six had not. We were amazed at the energy and superb singing and dancing around snippets of Tina's life. We would recommend this show no problem.

So much energy by Tina. and the rest of cast. It could not have been better. Well worth the risk of catching virus. Tina was so good and the finally a great surprise.
From the very start, this show draws you in and keeps you there. The cast are the absolute best and the lead is flawless. Brilliant show, you totally believe that it's Tina up there performing just for you. 100% recommended and will be going back to watch again!

My daughter and I both thought the show was amazing! One of the best musicals I have been too. I genuinely thought we were watching the real Tina Turner! Fran Griffiths
Simply the best. Far better than all the rest. Loved it. ❤️
What a performance! Excellent singing and dancing! non stop and an interesting story line of Tina Turner’s long fight for survival . I also received excellent care from the staff following my fall outside the theatre. Thank you to all involved
Very good show with excellent vocals, 5 star from start to finish
Fantastic!! Would go again
The show was amazing! The cast were fantastic with the actress playing Tina smashing it out of the park. From the Box Office however, were appalling. We had attempted to change the date (two months ago) due to a clash with another present. From the Box Office we unhelpful and dismissive. They obviously didn’t help us swap dates. I’d personally never use the again
Great actors and singing We booked 4 tickets however 2 of family could not be used as family were told to self isolate by gp surgery due to suspected corona-19 We contacted by email to reschedule 2 but no response, when I arrived at the theatre they advised I contacted box office again) as they could see only 2 of us) to arrange another date for our family members. Still not heard
Fantastic show, well worth watching , the atmosphere was electric, would defiantly recommend !!
