Project Polunin Presents Satori
Project Polunin Presents Satori
Project Polunin presents SATORI, a very special mixed multimedia programme that celebrates the unifying power and joy of dance, at the London Coliseum this December!
Sergei aims for Project Polunin to create new dance and ballet works, for both stage and film, through the collaboration between individuals from all creative backgrounds: dancers, contemporary artists, musicians, and choreographers. The ultimate goal of Project Polunin is to make dance accessible to people of all ages, and to inspire and encourage young people to be more creative, providing support along the way.
The project is divided in three acts:
First Solo is a new short ballet starring Sergei and created by award-winning choreographer Andrey Kaydanovskiy
Scriabiniana, with backing by a full orchestra, is the London premiere of the most complete version of Kasyan Goleizovsky’s ballet suite, marking his 125th birthday anniversary
Satori is a new piece choreographed by Sergei, directed by Gabriel Marcel del Vecchio and with an original score by multi-award-winning composer Lorenz Dangel.
On Sunday 10 December only, the programme will include the ground-breaking solo Take Me To Church, choreographed by Jade Hale Christofi, danced by Polunin, based on David LaChapelle’s video, which went viral in 2015.
Other ballets presented on Sunday 10 December include Christian Spuck’s Le Grand Pas de Deux, What Love Tells Me by John Neumeier, Memoria, Rhapsody Pas de Deux, Diana and Actaeon and Satori by Sergei Polunin.

An afternoon of pure heaven. A good mix of dance with some excellent dancers and choreography. Sergei dancing Take me to the Church was awesome - what a talent. I only wish it could have gone on for ever.

A brilliant birthday gift to my mother. Neither of us are in know when it comes to Ballet dancing, however as a ballroom dancer and lover of the Dancer documentary it was the perfect show for us to see. It was truly breathtaking and inspirational. Can’t wait to get back to the studio! Will definitely watch any of his future projects. 5* all round!

It was accessible, interesting, engaging and the dancing technique just magical. The balance and emotion between the couples was palpable - you felt every single move along with them. Their use of light and shadows was incredible; simple but so clever and effective. Polunin's Take Me To Church was actual magic and a privilege to watch. Satori was a bit more challenging for the viewer but opened up to such intense emotions that the effort was completely worth it.. I wish I could see it all again.

There's nothing better than warming the soul on a cold winters evening. This Saturday proved to be quite the remedy supplied by no other than Sergei Polunin and his beautiful production. The Colisseum was filled to the rafters and the atmosphere was electric. From the beginning we, the audience, were treated to the dramatics and emotion one would expect from ballet of this calibre. Wonderful.

This is first time for me to watch ballet. Coliseum is very nice place and dancers are beautiful. Ballet is arts and sports. I hope that many people get interested in ballet. Thank you so much for nice memory in London.

So much talent and art in a single show created to challenge classic conceptions of what a ballet dancer should perform. Really breathtaking

As anticipated, Polunin mixed his magic leaps with wonderful choreography from a variety of people(including his own choreography) and some super dancers, including Natalia Osipova, his partner. A wonderful 1st Act with a range of dances and styles and a second act which was entrancing, especially Sartori. The programme made interesting reading. Super value for money compared to other dance venues and Polunin has reconfirmed his status as no 1 ballet boy (no longer bad boy?!) His First Solo piece was so moving and personal and this dancer has real soul. A delightful evening with the audience up on its feet at the end for over 5minutes-well deserved. He is better free from the Royal Ballet constraints!! Thank you Sergei and the Colosseum Theatre

There is no doubting the talent on stage and the sheer presence and charisma of Sergie Polunin as a stand out performer. However the choreography seemed lacking and did not showcase the abilities of all those present. Luminosity seemed a trifle overindulgent and what perceived storyline there was was hard to follow. Tom Waddington provided an uplifting performance in an otherwise uninspired piece. Having looked forward to this for months I left with mixed emotions -wonderful appreciation of the skill of the dancers but disappointment at the overall production.

I loved this marriage of dance with Russian prose and sonatas. The costumes lacked imagination but the fantastical shadow play of the second act made up for this in drama and emotion . Polunin needs a much bigger project than this however to showcase his enormous star qua lity and talent!

I thought that many of the first shorts were very interesting and quite conflicting, but there were some truely beautiful pieces. I thought that Polunin's piece with Osipova was very clumsy and disjointed. Satori was a beautiful piece and showcased the view of Polunin as a soul coming to terms with his path and love. It was a great show with a lot of highs. Bravo Sergei

Absolutely brilliant. A great dancer, choreographer, and has a genuine social conscience as well with his inclusivity and help for young ballet dancers starting out on their career and concern about their well-being. Shame on some on his critics that do not credit him with this.

The entire experience was a delight. Drawn down from Worcestershire for this performance, we overnighted in London. We love the Coliseum - so historic. Sergei Polunin was the magnet, as I am an artist, he is my muse. It was a magic and memorable evening.

The beginning of the show started with a dramatic solo which was followed by a series of combination of dancers varying from sensitive to dramatic interpretations. Which were all intriguing and incredible talented pieces with little intervals between, the only slightly unusual thing was a curtain bow after the end of the first act. The second act was absolutely incredible 40 mins of encapsulated dancing which was very emotional. A terrific show for a first solo well done to all

Great show but too short for the price! I wished Sergei would have done his dance to "Take me to Church". Beautiful and moving dancing. Especially the second half of the show!

Polunin is a genius, a talent, an alien! He does not dance on stage, he flies. The choreography is interesting though close to classical, the plot is catchy. No doubt- worth seeing!
