Matilda The Musical (London) tickets
Matilda the Musical is a magical offering from the acclaimed Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the beloved book by the incomparable Roald Dahl!
Hailed as a musical triumph and recipient of over 85 international awards, including 16 for Best Musical, this fantastic piece of theatre continues to delight audiences in London, and began its first UK & Ireland Tour in March 2018.
What Is Matilda About?
Matilda the Musical tells the story of a young girl of incredible intelligence who is determined to change her own story, even if it means being a little bit naughty...
A funny and sharp book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by celebrated Australian comedian Tim Minchin add a new dimension to this children’s favourite.
Rather than being derivative of the original tale, Matilda the Musical adds new depth to the story.
There’s all the nastiness of Dahl’s novel, with a little girl whizzed across stage by her pigtails and a boy made to eat a giant chocolate cake, but this production also revels in the consolation offered by books and the transformative power of the imagination.
Matthew Warchus’ production is witty and intelligent as well as exuberant and big-hearted.
Matilda the Musical is a fantastic depiction of the disorder of childhood and the importance of making one’s own way in the world.
Backed by sensationally creative sets and props and an extraordinary cast of child and adult actors, this musical truly sets Dahl’s story alight.
What a wonderful show five star all the way and the best I have ever seen. So many great characters who played their part with so much enthusiasm. The young lady that plays Matilda is fabulous and so professional and her father so funny, in fact just loved every minute 😊😊😊
Absolutely loved this show, fast paced and really funny too!
I know i shouldnt compare the Stage Musical with the film but i found the Musical strayed in its story line. The young girl however whom played Matilda was very good..Just like to add that my better half (Mrs) loved it.
Amazing show - great set, great acting, great singing. Would thoroughly recommend for all ages!
My granddaughter aged 9 loved it and was transfixed and described it as an amazing experience I thought the production was excellent especially the performance of the children Matilda in particular
Matilda the musical was Amazing
So good - not great seats but good for the price. Children were adorable and staging was fab, especially lights and sound effects.
My Wife and I saw Matilda yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the musical extravaganza. The stage show was incredibly slick and impressive, the kids wonderful and the adult cast marvellous. The theatre and seating was fine and we came away thoroughly cheered by the whole fun experience.
Great show for kids or adults. Really entertaining and a beautiful script and great choreography.
My daughter, Granddaughter(7) and I attended Matilda. We all loved it, the children were amazing! It had humour, dancing, great acting, we would recommend going!
Our first ever theater experience. It was, really well written and produced. Music was great. Will definitely recommend for a view.
The only song that came to life with a show stopping bang was Revolting Children, the lead red haired child was brilliant in this; the rest of the music just seemed to drag on and on - there were way too many songs and not enough script. It was pretty boring really, nothing happened until well into the second half. It lacks humour. Miss Trunchball could have been cast better, he/she didn't seem appropriate for the part, although the actor did have a good stab at it. Miss Honey was a delight and has the voice of a songbird. We enjoyed the shadow theatre section the most this was magical and captivating. Unsure why this show has been a hit really and for so long. Think I expected the same London dazzle as Wille Wonka, but sadly it is in nowhere near this league. Really sorry to say this, but I would not recommend this show.
wish I had the opportunity to see it when I was kid then I would have been so much more confident and know so many things that were a mystery to me! ...like adults for instance! I still don't understand them!! but the other things I do, well somethings I do others still not too clear!...but I now when things are right good !!...or not so right!
My 7yr old grandson loved it ! and surprisingly I enjoyed it too
We absolutely loved the show. Our Matilda was Isobel Hubble and she was truly wonderful to watch. The props and effects worked so well in a relatively small area. The whole cast brought the story to life. Miss Trunchbull did not disappoint! Highly recommend for all ages.
Brilliant !!! Quite a bit of a different story line to the film that my 7 year old loves but she still loved it. My 12 year old twins loved it too !!!
Absolutely brilliant. Myself and my two grandchildren ,aged 6 and 9 , loved this production. It was lovely beautifully sung, danced and acted. Excellent
This was my second time seeing the show and again, it was very good. Zoe was an absolutely outstanding Matilda, her performance was truly amazing, as was Gina Beck as Miss Honey. I thought Hayden's performance as Miss Trunchbull was very good and unique but I expected a bit more drama and anger from Trunchbull, at times it felt a little bit panto. The music was fantastic, as was the set. I would definitely see it again!
Unless you have children give this a miss. More like a panto without the jokes!
Amazing show, would definitely recommend to anyone.
Excellent show loved every minute.
Wonderful enthralling story, made me laugh and bought a tear to me eye. Took our children for the first time to see a musical and they loved it......... great great show xxx
From the very beginning to the final act it was brilliant. Lots of surprises and great performances from the whole cast.
A fantastic reverting show from Start to finish it left my mind full of imagination and wonder I will definitely recommend people to watch this masterpiece my daughter and granddaughter loved every second . it was a shame the show had to come to an end , it left us wanting more I will book to watch it again some day 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Lovely little theatre, great staff and clean facilities. Matilda was excellent for all ages similar to the film but a few interesting changes.
Very entertaining-good fun
Amazing show by such a young cast
Absolutely fantastic. Well done to all the cast. Remarkable children
Excellent show. A feel good show, very well staged and performed.
This was one of the best shows I have ever seen, it was absolutely fantastic. The little girl who played Matilda when we saw the show on 30/03/19 was just breathtakingly incredible. A standing ovation that was so very deserved for her and all of the cast. I have told all of my friends and family how good the show was and encouraged them to go and see for themselves. Simply brilliant!
A fabulous performance of a much loved family favourite. Superb, creative story telling with a wonderful musical score. The young cast were amazing and the highlight for my 10 year old daughter.
So cute! The acting was great. The story was wonderful. The kids were amazing. Really enjoyed the show.
Show was great. My daughters like when Miss Tranchball doing PE lesson. On the end was funny when rossian maffia came. I eanjoy when Bruce was sing song about chokie. He has great voice.
An absolutely fantastic show. A joy to watch
I was looking forward to seeing the show as my granddaughter thought it was great. But there in lies the problem I feel it is definitely a show for children or if you have children with you. The child cast members were great as was Miss Trunchbull but I felt that Matildas parents were awful particularly the father. After the interval there were seats that were not returned to so I think I am not on my own.
Absolutely brilliant! The cast were phenomenal, really inspiring. Such a great production and loved the set design!
I would recommend this show to anybody with or without children. A vibrant, energetic, exciting performance by all the actors. Matilda, played by Olivia Wells, is outstanding. So much to learn both words and actions. She is awesome!
Matilda completely blew me and my family away. The stage, the performance, the dancing and the acting of Matilda as well as the story telling captivated us and has us enthralled. Can’t recomm it highly enough, it was both funny, sad and humourous. 5 stars
Held your attention right from the start. Excellent staging, brilliant effects, amazing cast
It was by far the worst Musical i have ever seen in my life , Songs were terrible , lacked humour and as for the story line what was that about ?? . Felt like walking out after the first ten minutes and regret not doing that. My rating is 2/10 and that is only because the kids tried their best in difficult circumstances.
My girls aged 4 and 6 enjoyed the show so much! They didn’t even wanna go to the toilet till the end! Matilda has a sad story but on the other side it’s very inspiring for kids. Will definitely watch it again next year!
I went with my daughter-in-law and granddaughtr, age seven. We all loved the show. The performances delivered by the children were quite outstanding.
BRILLIANT. The best, most jubilating feeling you can't help to have by the end. I'd see it again and again!!
Utterly brilliant !! The children were amazing , I think the best show I have ever seen !
I enjoyed the show very much but thought the second half was much better than the first. The children were amazing!!
...better than some of the other shows I’ve seen in the west end (like wicked etc) - really great fun for the entire family. Cast are amazing
It was a lovely show with wonderful performances all round. I thought the children, especially little Matilda, were wonderful - simply amazing. It is a delightful story perfectly complemented by the music. The comedy element was brilliant. I have recommended the show to a number of people.
