Dreamgirls

Thirty-five years after the groundbreaking original Broadway production, this UK and West End premiere of the sensational and iconic Tony Award®-winning musical DREAMGIRLS is now playing at the Savoy Theatre, London.

With book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger, Dreamgirls won six Tony Awards when it opened on Broadway over three decades ago and has more recently been adapted into an Academy Award-winning film starring Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson.

Set in America in the 1960s, Dreamgirls tells the story of a trio of young women singers called The Dreams. The musical follows the group’s stormy journey from their hometown of Chicago up the greasy pole of success and celebrity.

Dreamgirls stars Glee’s very own powerhouse performer Amber Riley and will feature R&B classics such as ‘I Am Changing’, ‘One Night Only’ and ‘Dreamgirls’. Tony and Olivier Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!) directs and choreographs the London production of the ground-breaking show, staying faithful to a lot of the original choreography by Michael Bennett (A Chorus Line).

A smash hit in waiting, don’t miss your chance to experience the compelling story, iconic music and incredible dance moves of Dreamgirls. With previews starting in November, book your Dreamgirls tickets today.

Where do I start..... sheer perfection seems such an inadequate phrase to use.. The whole cast superb.. Ms Riley had the ability to make myself and everyone one else in the Grand Circle cry like babies with her outstanding rendition of "And I'm Telling You"....... Well I'm telling you .. I am coming back for more!!!

  • Disappointing

    21 June 2017

Dreamgirls doesn't live up to the hype. The plot is thin and few of the songs are memorable. The cast is energetic and enthusiastic and there are some great voices, but too often they sound like screaming. Take your ear muffs! Several other West End shows, including Motown the Musical, Aladdin and Beautiful - the Carole King the Musical, are better value.
