Thirty-five years after the groundbreaking original Broadway production, this UK and West End premiere of the sensational and iconic Tony Award®-winning musical DREAMGIRLS is now playing at the Savoy Theatre, London.
Featuring R&B classics such as ‘I Am Changing’, ‘One Night Only’ and ‘Dreamgirls’
With book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger, Dreamgirls won six Tony Awards when it opened on Broadway over three decades ago and has more recently been adapted into an Academy Award-winning film starring Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson.
Set in America in the 1960s, Dreamgirls tells the story of a trio of young women singers called The Dreams. The musical follows the group’s stormy journey from their hometown of Chicago up the greasy pole of success and celebrity.
Tony and Olivier Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!) directs and choreographs the London production of the ground-breaking show, staying faithful to a lot of the original choreography by Michael Bennett (A Chorus Line).
A smash hit in waiting, don’t miss your chance to experience the compelling story, iconic music and incredible dance moves of Dreamgirls, book your tickets today!
It was amazing!! Very happy
Wow! What a performance. The singing was amazing. Well done.
Beautiful theatre, amazing high energy performance from entire cast but “lead” female in class of her own. What a voice!I always choose aisle
Had an amazing time all the cast were very talented and could sing brilliantly and all played their part to the characters in the movie spot on. Would recommend it to everyone. It was the icing on the cake to me and my wife’s 10 year wedding aniversary date.
Powerful voices in a powerful soulful songs.
I absolutely enjoyed this show. I saw the original stage play with Jennifer Holiday 35 years ago and I watched the movie starring Jennifer Hudson several times and I must say this cast, costumes and overall talent matched the two shows. Outstanding... I loved everything about this show..
Fantastic theatre fantastic show amazing musicians
Amazing show really enjoyed it would recommend it.
The show had everything, drama, humour, emotion and fantastic singing Must see
Saw Dreamgirls and went with friends. Although seen the film - saw stage version on 23rd June 2018 - really emotional, all actors sang their hearts out and would highly recommend.
Got an upgrade on our seats for a very reasonable price as it was wife birthday got complimentary drinks Show was great the cast can really knock a song out Only down side was a warm night and theatre got uncomfortably hot
As a birthday gift, my daughter treated me to a night at the Savoy Theatre. It was an amazing and electrifying experience. The quality of the production was faultless and every note sung had me soaring higher! Excellent show!
Full of energy, amazingly talented cast. Thoroughly entertaining.
Fantastic show, great seats. Monsanto Angela was absolutely amazing.
A bit of a slow starter but once it got going it was incredible. Amazing dancing, phenomenal singing and beautiful dresses
What an amazing show well worth the money and the star of the show was definitely Effie for me absolutely brilliant x
Show was absolutely brilliant, couldn't recommend it enough!
Such a brilliant show!! Amazing voices especially the lead. Didn’t know many of the songs except ‘one night only’ and ‘you’re gonna live me’. Great story but it’s the singing that really stands out.
Wow what a show! Very well staged and the singers are out of this world. Amazing value for money and will be returning soon and bringing all my family to see this spectacular show
Too much screaming for my liking. The props and sets are stunning and I understand that the actors have amazing singing talents. However, I prefer it not to be screamed into my ears.
Stunning. The singing is amazing full of emotion . A must see
Absolutely fantastic the singers were brilliant
It was honestly one of the best West end shows I've ever seen. A Must see. GO FOR IT!
two adults two children travelled from Leeds for the day solely to see the matinee performance. What a performance - fantastic!
We was upgraded and had a fab time
So many talented people, a fabulous night, thank you, we were truly moved
The show was amazing, the seats provided an excellent view of the stage and the sound was intoxicating.
Truly amazing show. Great characters and such powerful voices.
Perfect show. Very good evening. Excellent performance. !!!!!!!
The show was incredible and our seats ( grand circle third row from the bottom ) were amazing! thank you!
Amazing Ive seen it twice and would see it again!!
Sorry can't review the play as half way through the whole of the audience was asked to evacuate the building with no re-entry
Loved this show. Without giving a spoiler, last song in Act 1 is probably the best singing performance I have seen on stage. And I’ve seen a lot. Feel good, dramatic and beautiful. Hi see it.
Best show I have ever seen. The lead singer was amazing and I've never heard such a beautiful voice. Me and my friend want to see the show again we had such a fabulous night. I wish I was going again tonight ❤
This show is amazing. The best show I have ever seen. We went for my granddaughters 21st birthday as she is a performing arts student at university and she left the show feeling so on a high. Love love love it
Engaging from the very first second. One of the best musicals i have ever seen. It touches you so deeply that you find yourself crying and laughing all the time. A must see!
Such a great show, moving and entertaining and fabulous. A spectacular experience!
Absolutely phenomenal!! The main singer, Moya was a total blow away!! And every performer was extremely high quality! I very, very much enjoyed and I have seen alot of shows, however this cast is top of the line! Thank you!
Saw the movie and I wasn't impressed. However, my client wanted to see the stage show hence I went with her. I was absolutely blown away. The choreography, singing and overall acting beat the movie hands down. Plus Effie tore the house down vocally with that amazing song "And I am telling you". I highly recommend seeing the stage show. The outfits and music was magical. A real value for your money. Thank you Savoy Theatre for staging this show.
The acting wasn't too good and the music was too loud to be able to hear what the actors were singing about. The singers were shouting rather than singing. Listening to the other people around me, their opinions seemed to be the same. Compared to numerous other West End shows I've seen this was not up to their standard.
My daughters 18th birthday party it was so good plus we got an upgrade cast were amazing plus vocal and dances were exceptional. My daughter is going to uni sept to study Theatre technology she thought the lighting was amazing if gave her such encouragement to follow her dream
I took my husband for his birthday from start to finish what a great show loved it and omg the singing was out of this world.
LOVED this show. I've been fortunate enough to see many shows in the west end and this one didn't disappoint. The performers are incredibly talented, along with stunning costumes and sets it gave for lots of goosebump moments. The only thing stopping me giving this a 5* rating was that we had 2 very annoying ladies sat in front of us who repeatedly got up, were late for the show, kept talking and then kept filming the show. The staff did approach the ladies a couple of times but in all honesty they interrupted the performance so much for us and those around us that i really think they should've been asked to leave. Particularly on the 3rd time of being caught trying to film!
This is a fantastic high energy show from start to end, the singing and acting is superb. Just like the film but better in the “flesh”
