Alice wants to come out as a lesbian. Her girlfriend Fiona wants to start living as a man.
It's New Year in Rotterdam, and Alice has finally plucked up the courage to email her parents and tell them she's gay. But before she can hit send, Fiona reveals that he has always identified as male and now wants to start living as a man named Adrian. Now, as Adrian confronts the reality of his transition, Alice faces a question she never thought she'd ask... does this mean she's straight?

The Olivier award winning bittersweet comedy about gender, sexuality and being a long way from home from writer Jon Brittain, writer of What Would Spock Do? and A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad).

    This show is unlike any I've seen before. Each character is so well thought out and you are able to relate to each and every one of them. The music also matches the emotions of each scene extremely well. The story is such a moving one and so well told through the eyes of these different characters. Definitely worth going to see!

    Fantastic play. Thought-provoking, emotional, funny, very well acted. No wonder they received a standing ovation last night. My only criticism is that it makes Rotterdam seem like a place you can want to get away from - but it's a lovely city!

    I don't think it would be possible to enjoy this more. A timely peice (in a way I'm glad I missed it last year) which talks about the complex mixture of gender and sexual identity. Never before had I truly understood the wide reaching implications of coming out as transgender, and how it differs so markedly from coming out regarding sexuality. Anna Martine was tremendous as Fiona/Adrian - and was so talented and both identities were utterly convincing. One scene in the second half left me sobbing (if you've seen it you'll know which one), and that continued to the very end. It's probably a good job it's only showing for a few more days or I'd be back for more.
