The Toxic Avenger

Coming to the West End following a sold-out UK première at London’s Southwark Playhouse, The Toxic Avenger is a mad, joyous and must-see production.

The people of Tromaville need a hero. Luckily, earth scientist Melvin Ferd the Third is here to help. However, when a corrupt mayor gets wind of his plans to clean up the city, Melvin finds himself plunged into a vat of toxic waste and Toxie the seven-foot, global warming-fighting, blind librarian-wooing superhero is born!

Created by Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi founder David Bryan (the Tony Award-winning team behind the smash hit Memphis) and based on the 1984 cult classic film, The Toxic Avenger has been nominated for six Off-West-End Awards including Best Musical and has received rave reviews for its humour, glorious insanity and slick design.

Playing at the Arts Theatre for a strictly limited time, don’t miss your chance to see this hilarious rock musical with an environmental twist.

Absolutely hilarious fast-paced politically incorrect musical based on a mutant hero. Good ensemble piece, slick costumes changes, adult humour, fantastic songs and lyrics, great special effects and physical theatre. Laughed all the way through.

Great songs and singing and funny but a little too slapstick and over the top silly in parts. Like a not quite as good baby sibling of Rocky Horror with some very amusing verbal jokes but also some very infantile visual jokes. Good for one evening out but I would not be a repeat visitor. However excellent value for the ticket price I paid which was a special offer.
