Coming to the West End following a sold-out UK première at London’s Southwark Playhouse, The Toxic Avenger is a mad, joyous and must-see production.
The people of Tromaville need a hero. Luckily, earth scientist Melvin Ferd the Third is here to help. However, when a corrupt mayor gets wind of his plans to clean up the city, Melvin finds himself plunged into a vat of toxic waste and Toxie the seven-foot, global warming-fighting, blind librarian-wooing superhero is born!
Created by Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi founder David Bryan (the Tony Award-winning team behind the smash hit Memphis) and based on the 1984 cult classic film, The Toxic Avenger has been nominated for six Off-West-End Awards including Best Musical and has received rave reviews for its humour, glorious insanity and slick design.
Playing at the Arts Theatre for a strictly limited time, don’t miss your chance to see this hilarious rock musical with an environmental twist.

Absolutely hilarious fast-paced politically incorrect musical based on a mutant hero. Good ensemble piece, slick costumes changes, adult humour, fantastic songs and lyrics, great special effects and physical theatre. Laughed all the way through.
Great songs and singing and funny but a little too slapstick and over the top silly in parts. Like a not quite as good baby sibling of Rocky Horror with some very amusing verbal jokes but also some very infantile visual jokes. Good for one evening out but I would not be a repeat visitor. However excellent value for the ticket price I paid which was a special offer.
A fun evening. The acting and singing was fantastic.
A great cast put on a highly entertaining show with a great sense of humour and energetic musical numbers. The second half shenanigans in particular elevate the show with self-awareness and escalating jokes. Highly recommended, wherever it's next on!
I love it!! It was funny hilarious u dont have to miss it!
Fabulous!!!!!!

It was brilliant, funny and rude. I am so glad we booked tickets. Well worth every penny.
I've only been to the theatre 4 times in my life but twice were to see this show! I saw it with 3 friends in the Summer and we all went back last night to see it again. It's very funny, the songs are great and the singing is brilliant. The story line is also pretty dam good. I don't see how you can watch this show and not be entertained!
Totally entertaining, great cast, booked again already to go back with family
Never seen any thing on stage this funny. Will recommend to friends and family
Entertaining musical version of Lloyd Kaufman's masterpiece. Not as gleefully offensive as the Troma film(s) but fun and well acted. A few too many "Play That Goes Wrong" stylee in-jokes - I'd rather it was played straighter - but great fun and good songs. Many thx!
Me and my boyfriend booked an over night trip to london and didnt really intend on going to the theatre due to saving money. However after seeing the sign and being interested on what the show was about we took and look and the ticket prices were so cheap how could we not?? And we are so glad we did. This musical is now our absolute favourite. The actors were amazing and incredibly funny. The songs were entertaining and the overall experience was throughly enjoyable. I didnt hear anyone not laughing. Not to mention the staff at the venue were extremely polite and helpful. I cant believe this show is only showing for a season! If given the chance i would watch this show 100 times more. Thank you for an incredible night that i wont forget. We are #inTOXICated!!
A sophisticated and complex ride of intensity and mind expanding intellect is what I would say if I was writing my thoughts on a different show. Toxic Avenger: The Musical had me laughing and cringing in equal measure which is what I’d hoped, considering the source material! The performances were fantastic, fun to watch and you could see how much the cast enjoyed delivering their characters....... I loved the over acting! The utilisation of the stage, set and lighting was terrific and the design was in keeping with the character of the show. All in all, a great show that will keep you laughing, grinning and clapping throughout!
I saw this last year at the Southwark Playhouse and wanted to see it again at the Arts Theatre. I wasn't disappointed. An entertaining afternoon, with good music and a fun, and funny, story.
