Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
Half a century after its premiere on The Old Vic stage, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, the play that made a young Tom Stoppard’s name overnight, returns to The Old Vic in its 50th anniversary celebratory production.
Against the backdrop of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, this mind-bending situation comedy sees two hapless minor characters, Rosencrantz (Daniel Radcliffe) and Guildenstern (Joshua McGuire), take centre stage. Increasingly out of their depth, the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of this iconic drama.
In a literary hall of mirrors, Stoppard’s brilliantly funny, existential labyrinth sees us witness the ultimate identity crisis.
Directed by David Leveaux
Starring Daniel Radcliffe and Joshua McGuire

A very entertaining production, I saw the original one in '67 and remembered how enjoyable it was, this one did not disappoint.

It was the most unsatisfactory production I saw this season in London. There was no communication between the actors. God knows what was going on the stage. Particularly week was Daniel Radclifff e. Yo my big dissapointment. His voice was brittle , he did not projected the voice enough and was very uninteresting. Me and my fired left after first act. Woukd be nice yo get money back or some other tickets for next production as a compensation .

Bought this as a birthday present for parents as they love the play and studied it in school. We loved the venue, drinks and staff were nice. However the acting was quite jerky and too fast from the protagonsts. It made it difficult to understand the rich dialogue - which is a shame because it is a very funny andnl intelligent play. On the other hand, David Hague was magnificent and my folks were talking about him long afterwards. We left after first act, and were glad we were not the only ones who did.
