RSC - Much Ado About Nothing (or Love’s Labour’s Won)

Transferring to the West End this December following sell-out runs in Chichester and Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespearean favourite Much Ado About Nothing (or Love’s Labour’s Won) arrives at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket in a double bill with Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Written between 1598 and 1599, the enduring popularity of Much Ado About Nothing (or Love’s Labour’s Won) has made it Shakespeare’s most frequently performed comic play. In this latest and widely acclaimed incarnation by the internationally renowned Royal Shakespeare Company, the action is moved to autumn 1918.

Melancholic Benedick and his friend Claudio return from the trenches and are promptly reacquainted with Hero and Beatrice. As the horrors of war are replaced by parties and masquerade balls, Hero and Claudio fall madly in love and Beatrice and Benedick reignite their old passions, although theirs is a rather more quarrelsome relationship…
Set among the fragile gaiety of a post-war house party where love runs wild, deception threatens the happiness of young lovers and it all works out in the end, the RSC’s Much Ado About Nothing (or Love’s Labour’s Won) is a supremely entertaining and engaging production.

Playing for a strictly limited run as part of an inspired pairing with Love’s Labour’s Lost, book your tickets to this heart-warming coupling today.

My French wife, our two bilingual sons (10 and 16) and I thought your production was the best ever. We had a fantastic time. My 10y old had read the children's "translation" (purchased the night before from the Globe bookshop) and my 16y old recently scored A* in his GCSE where MAAN was one of the set books. About 2y ago, we also saw the West End Bollywood version and, the following night, a local production in Folkestone on the way home. So we have seen all sorts of versions also including Kenneth Branagh's film. So our compliments are amateur but informed !
