The Snowman
The Snowman
For the 19th year in a row, the captivating family show The Snowman comes to the London stage.
Based on the beloved children’s book by Raymond Briggs and the 1982 film directed by Dianne Jackson, The Snowman tells the unforgettable story of a young boy and a snowman he builds on a cold winter’s day. At the stroke of midnight the snowman comes to life and the two embark on a wonderful adventure together, meeting Father Christmas at the North Pole and narrowly escaping the grips of the dastardly Jack Frost.
Featuring music and lyrics by Howard Blake performed by a live orchestra (including the iconic ‘Walking in the Air’), stunning choreography by Robert North and direction by Bill Alexander, the winter wonderland of The Snowman and its beautiful story of friendship has enchanted generations of children. An unmissable festive tradition, gather your family and loved ones together this holiday season to experience a truly magical show.
Playing from late November at the Peacock Theatre, the West End home of internationally-renowned dance venue Sadler’s Wells, book your tickets to The Snowman today.

My daughter, my husband and I went to see the play. It was really enjoyable and first time I saw my daughter clapping and interacting so much with the atmosphere of the play. I have to admit that is a little bit long including the break but at the end we had a really good time!

My 5 yo son and I really enjoyed the Snowman. I had read a critic's review from 2014 saying that this production dragged in the first half, and needed a reboot. I disagree. The whole production was engaging for adults and children. The staging and costumes were excellent - and while the flying scene was the highlight, there were plenty of other brilliant moments. My son commented at the end that it had been "too long, but a good show". My only criticism was that the intermission was a little long, but given the production had a young boy in almost every scene - it was clearly necessary to give him and the other dancers a rest.

Although beautifully done , it needs a little updating. Our 6 year olds were a little bored at times.. Really aimed at the 3 to 5 year olds.

I took two 6 year olds for their first ballet experience. We were unlucky enough to have rows of adults in froth of us and neither of the girls could see at all. I asked for booster seats and was told they were £3 each. I am disgusted. This is a children's show, and my ticket price should include a basic view for children of the stage. Furthermore, the booster cushions looked exceptionally poor quality and I doubt they would have helped at all. We were planning to have the girls on our laps, which is exhausting. Luckily, there were a few free seats which we moved into quickly just before curtain up. This meant we couldn't all sit together, which wasn't part of the plan as a Christmas treat. The ballet itself was fine- Act 1 was a let-down as there was very little ballet and lots of walking around, which I didn't understand at all. Act 2 was much better with some actual ballet, thank goodness. I wouldn't take my daughter to another of these ballets, as she wants to see more dancing. The issue is that full length ballets are so expensive.

Beautifully recreated classic. Brings back to life childhood memories and unlocks smells, feelings and that overall sense of Christmas past. Loved every skin tingling second of the flying scene

Lovely show. Was a bit worried that it may be dull, but we had a really good time, including my teenage children! It is really magical. The "boy" character is absolutely wonderful as well as the "Snowman" and the rest of the cast. The whole theatre and little children and young parents were all excited and mesmerised. Such a lovely way to spend a Christmas holiday evening.

This was a beautiful production which stuck closely to the book by Raymond Briggs. I thought the dance of the vegetables in first half went on too long but all the scenes in the second where the Snowmen dance were lovely and what beautiful sets with imitation snow and ice. The main actor, the boy, was brilliant and seemed to really love doing it.

I have been watching The Snowman on Tv since I was a child. I was excited to see the production advertised in london and am pleased to say that it did not disappoint! A cocktail of superb dancing, stunning instrumental music and humour. Additional cleverly- written scenes were added to the original story that complimented the play beautifully. We left the theatre with huge smiles and lots of festive cheer.

The whole family really enjoyed it, my husband and I and our two girls age 4 and 6. I was worried it wouldn't live up to our expectations and the price! However it exceeded them, I even welled up when the famous flying and song came on and the girls were blown away. The ballet and animals were brilliant and the tone and humour were spot on for a family production. Well worth seeing.

My husband and I went for the evening and we really enjoyed this show. I only wish we had taken our children ( now in their late teens) when they were younger. There was such a christmassy atmosphere - I loved it. I thought that the children in the audience were so well behaved and completely mesmorized by the whole performance. Would definitely go again!

Beautiful production of a lovely story. Excellent scenery, costumes and characters. When the boy and the snowman started to fly with the classic song, this 59 year old had a tear in his eye. Adorable !!! A must watch for young and old
