“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees!”
Inspired by Dr. Seuss’s classic tale, The Lorax tells of a moustachioed and cantankerous critter who’s on a mission to protect the earth from the greedy, tree-chopping, Thneed-knitting businessman known only as The Once-ler.
Adapted by David Greig and brought to the stage by acclaimed director Max Webster (James And The Giant Peach, To Kill A Mockingbird, Twelfth Night), The Lorax blends theatrical invention, songs and zany humour in a timely and vibrant Christmas show with a message that will speak to audiences of all ages.

We went with a 4 & 7 yr olds and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Completely bonkers with a great message that my kids took home with them. Best production we've seen in ages...shame it has to finish ❤️

Lovely show, well written, great choreography. One negative was as this is aimed for children i felt it was slightly too long for their attention span, other than that a great show.

Great show. Loved what they did with it. The whole cast was great, apart from the girl who played the child. She stood out as a performer who clearly didn't match the rest of the talent on stage.

An odd mix of juvenile humour and tree hugging sentiment. Generally good performances but it felt like a school play. The band were awfull!

I read in the programme notes that the artistic director wanted to achieve a drama that appealed to all ages. Well I took my daughter aged 9 and my mother aged 76 and we all absolutely LOVED it! Everything was great - acting superb, script clever and beautifully written, songs perfect, production values first class. A beautiful creative experience overall for a story with a wonderful set of values - the seeds given to my daughter at the end were a wonderful and smart touch. I am now a massive Old Vic fan - props Mr Spacey!

I knew the Lorax was going to be a mad but wonderful experience before I sat down, but the Old Vic out did my expectations. The colours in the set and costumes were beautifully vibrant and gorgeous to look at, especially in the middle of a grey winter in London. All the performers were spectacular, especially those with puppets. The Lorax himself was brilliantly thought through, from the design of the puppet to the actors performance, he was able to emote beautifully as well as having excellent comic timing. The show was a joy to watch from start to end and even had the lovely touch of giving you seeds as you left the theatre so we can all become Lorax's of our own.
