Elf The Musical
Elf The Musical
Based on the hilarious smash-hit film Elf (2003) starring Will Ferrell, Elf - The Musical is a rip-roaring yuletide delight. Following a run on Broadway, where it broke box office records, and further sell-out runs in Plymouth and Dublin, Elf - The Musical will make its much-anticipated London debut this winter.
The 2015 production will star Girls Aloud’s own Kimberley Walsh as Jovie and the tremendous Ben Forster (winner of ITV’s Superstar) as Buddy and boasts a book by Tony Award-winners Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan, gloriously creative set design and costumes by Olivier Award-winner Tim Goodchild and lighting by fellow Olivier-winner Tim Lutkin.
Elf - The Musical tells the story of young orphan Buddy who accidently crawls into Santa’s sack and finds himself transported to the North Pole. Buddy is raised as an elf but his huge size and less than extraordinary skills as a toy-maker mean that he can’t hide from the truth forever: Buddy is human. Determined to find his birth father, Buddy heads off to New York where he can’t help but spread some much-needed Christmas cheer.
This vibrant new musical is perfectly pitched for all the family, with loads of gags and fun for the kids and enough humour and wit to keep the adults thoroughly entertained. Chock-full of warmth and hilarious situations, Elf - The Musical is a fantastic Christmas show bubbling over with merriment as well as ingenious stage contraptions and some incredible star power.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show and buddy is hilarious. A must see for fans of the film. Be careful of prices though, ticket prices for the stalls are very high. We opted for the circle and had a great view for much less.

A little disappointed to be honest, knew it couldn't compete with the film but...it felt a bit stilted, didn't flow, wasn't v funny and quite expensive for the standard. Buddy was the best by far and much needed to carry it.

It was a last minute decision to go to the show, and was surprised that we could get such great seats. The show itself was a balance of innuendos which were great for the adult audience and magical which was amazing for all. I would definitely recommend.

As a very big fan of the movie Elf I was very excited to go to see the musical. I knew the tickets were quite expensive but I loved the movie so much I definitely thought it would be worth it. Boy was I wrong, what a disappointment. I feel they changed way to much from the story line of the movie, and it is supposed to be Elf the musical, not just some random Christmas musical. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear, yet they didn't even actually sing one christmas song. I don't feel the actor captured the child like spirit of the character the way he should, and where is papa elf? All in all it was a big let down, I can't get my 3 hours of my life back or my money back. I would not recommend this musical to anyone.

I would highly recommend Elf The Musical to any who wishes to start their Christmas early or who would like to see a well put together show. The thing which really did impress me was how the set chopped and changed throughout the evening and without saying to the much the final act was mind-blowing.

Was ok. Start was good, but novelty wore off because nothing special to it. The production itself got very average by the second half. Sadly I wouldn't recommend it. Could have been a lot better. Not a patch on other London musicals - les mis, Saigon, cats, lion king, beauty and the beast, avenue Q - out of its league. Main elf guy was good. Him and the bubbly fun lady saved it for entertainment.

Wasn't sure what to expect after reading reviews, but I did enjoy this musical and the special effects were good, especially Santa seemly coming out over the audience at the end! Just a shame the circle was half empty.

We thought it was very Christmassy, an ideal show for the Christmas period. Elf was lively and a good character. The special effects were very good and enabled the story to be told. The end was amazing and we are still wondering how you did that! All in all a good show- well done xx

Nothing can beat the film but having said that my husband, teenagers and I really enjoyed Elf the Musical and nearer to Christmas will be magical. We all thought "Buddy" did a fantastic job as did "Deb" the PA.
