Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, is now at the Savoy Theatre after claimed five stars at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Imelda Staunton delivers a "knock-out performance" (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's "dazzling revival" (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her stunning role as Louise. They’re joined by Peter Davison as the conscientious Herb, in this triumphant musical fable.

Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the story of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act.

But as times change and audiences expect more, the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and "scintillating" (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

The following performances of GYPSY are going to be filmed on the following dates:

I absolutely LOVED this production from start to finish. Imelda Staunton was phenomenal! She exudes such energy and vitality. The whole cast were fabulous. Coming from a family of Vaudevillian performers the musical itself strikes a chord with me and I have always been fond of the film 'Gypsy'. I am so happy I have been lucky enough to have seen this production with one of my lovely friends Liza! Whooo hooo

This is a perfect re make of an old school musical. Imelda Staunton is outstanding as Rose. Her singing and acting are brilliant and the standing ovation at the end was well deserved. The rest of the cast are also brilliant. See this before it finishes in November
