We thoroughly enjoyed the show. We went for my daughter's 12th birthday, her and her friend as well as my husband and I were gripped from start to finish. The acting, dancing and sets were excellent and we laughed out loud so much - just what we needed. It was very true to the film which is one of our favourites. If you are thinking about going then do it! You will have a wonderful time. Well done to all involved it was one of the best shows we have seen.
I had an amazing evening!! The show was great I enjoyed every second of it and everyone was really helpful and friendly!
Throughly enjoyed it and cast were fab!
I loved this show. The music gave it another dimension, so it was not just an immitation of the film. The scenery staging and costumes were really spectacular, juxtaposing the glamour of an Indian wedding with the stark simplicity of a football pitch. I loved the way lighting was used to send a football around the auditorium! The audience was very youthful, but my octogenarian mother and I really enjoyed ourselves too!
my recent visit to your theatre was one I wont forget.the heat in which we had to sit in was awfull,,the heating was full on ,,and no air conditioning, was put on throughout the show.in the interval I asked to speak to a manager which I did,he said it was being delt will.but this was not the case as I had to sit threw the second half of thr performance again boiling hot,,as no air conditioning had still not been put on,a very uncomftable experience.
I enjoyed the show very much. Some very poignant moments in the songs reflecting the issues faced by the older Indians when arriving in the UK. I saw the matinee and felt at times that maybe some of the cast were understudies. Some of the football team's dancing was out of sync and an English guy was depping as a banghra dancer. He was less than convincing and looked frankly a bit out of place. The seats in the circle were ok but lacked much space and as a tall guy meant my legs were inflicting themselves on the lady in front. View was ok though. I was aware of foot tapping from a couple of orchestra members. Come on guys you're professional musicians !! Lady's toilets were woefully inadequate only two closets. In summation there was a great feel good factor, to the show, with the audience made up of a good mixture of different races. How it ought to be. The music and singing was excellent. Go see it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this musical it was funny energytic and there was something in it for everyone. Great performance by the actors and actresses and of course the orchestra. I took my granddaughter as her Christmas present , she is fifteen and I am 73 and we both had a good time.
Loved the show! I wasn't sure how it would work as a musical but it was done brilliantly. The songs were great, the acting superb and the show had us riveted! Highly recommended!
I wasn't overly impressed loved the film, love Asian music, but unimpressive for the West End!!
I went to see this show last night with my husband and my immediate family. It was high energy from start to end, great singing and dancing and acting. We loved it from start to finish. The staff at the Phoenix theatre were amazing (my mum is in a wheelchair) and needed special assistance. They couldn't do enough for us. The cast were all fantastic, the actress who played pinky was a brilliant singer and dancer. We loved this show being a bit of a multicultural explosion! Many small touches of details and great fun. Would highly recommend.
Full of energy, great dancing and music not to mention the singing. Highly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant. British and Indian culture were mixed so perfectly well together and was extremely funny. Appeals to all types of people and ages, I thoroughly enjoyed it and want to see it again before it closes. Staff at the theatre were really helpful too.
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The choreography was superb... especially loved the scene of the wedding reception and football celebration on the stage together. The interchanging of songs but same upbeat tempo was excellent. The actress who played Jasminder captured her naivety and innocence with great acting... performance, eye catching. Well done to the cast for providing great entertainment.
Feel good show that captivated my 7 year old all the way through the show. During the wedding song she said she wanted to go up on the stage and join in. On the walk to the station she was singing and dancing music from the show. Inspiring story. I had seen it before with a different actress as Pinky so was worried that this new actress wouldn't be as good. She was different and brought a different dimension to the character. Jess is perfectly cast as is jools and were believable and likeable. Brilliant actors both of them.
Me and my friend went as a birthday treat, we love the film and the show was just as enjoyable. It was a lot more humorous than I thought it would be and we had a fab night. Highly recommend it.
Here is a cleverly-mastered mix of British and Indian culture, music and arts delivered by an enthusiastic company, young and old, who clearly enjoy working together and share pride in putting across this contemporary and thought-provoking tale from the London suburbs that challenges issues of upbringing and gender in particular. It is fresh, colourful and vibrant. You will come away with the rhythm of the bangra and the haunting sound of the traditional Punjabi vocals.
The best musical, so much fun and dancing, excellent chorography.
Didn't know what to expect, but this was so enjoyable! Funny, great energy and completely uplifting!
Great show, well made and throughly entertaining.
absolutety super
What an amazing musical, a definate must see. I didn't want the show to end!
Fantastic energy, great mix of musical styles, great songs and super lively dance. Also some good gags. Well acted, danced and sung by a fizzing cast. And a really nice though not preachy take on the essential need for multi-cultural (or, human) values of tolerance, and sensible , negotiated compromise rather than stiff-necked cleaving to outmoded attitudes . And the importance of love and friendship whatever your race, creed - or sexuality. Some amusing gags in that line too. As a United fan I'm glad it wasn't originally conceived as Shank It Like Shearer.
Went to see Bend It like Beckenham at the weekend with family, and this show was Fantastic, a must for all to go and see it. The show was so funny, and very much like the film, Good actors across the board, couldn't stop laughing, and the singing and dancing was Fab.. Congrats to all those behind such a great show...x
This is a fantastic, uplifting and humorous show with a very relevant message for all parents with kids who have dreams!!
Great to see such a fantastic delivery as if its the first time. Every one genuinely is highly talented with the singing and dancing so vibrant and colourful. Great humour and great energy through out. Left me wanting more. Thanks to all for making such a brilliant night - I will remember it forever!
This was an amazing show, it was as if I was in the movie. The songs were amazing and up beat.
I completely loved this. Excellent performance and music.
The production was brilliant and well performed. The scenes were well set and marvellously put together. Some of the sings was breath taking. The play had something for all, laughter, tears, entertainment and serious moment. Overall excellent.
The show was sensational, we laughed the whole way through. We saw the understudy Kayleigh as 'Jules' and she was incredible - beautiful voice! Would definitely recommend.
I went with my 3 kids 11-14 years old and we all loved it! I particularly loved the Indian singing and dancing.
I went to see this with a friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It was funny, colourful, exciting and actually quite emotional. The music was great and stuck in my head (so much so that I went around for several days singing it) and the dancing was incredible ! Also the set was amazing (I'd never seen anything quite like it before); it had sliding levels, changing 3D backdrops and it all worked so well to add to the whole atmosphere. I would highly recommend this fabulous show to all my friends. (:
Pure genius, highly motivating, colourful, great songs and wonderful dancing and costumes. Never a dull moment, it remained very close to the film. The individual character were superb but Pinky really stole the show. Full of emotion but what a generally happy show, so glad we did it.
I found it difficult at times to catch the punchline of the jokes, as the words were coming out to fast in Asian dialect, I would have found it more entertaining with more bollywood dancing
Absolutely loved the whole production! Was a good laugh and very entertaining, well done to the whole cast! It was epic!!
Absolutely loved it! Amazing show, took two 11 year old girls who are mad about football and play in a county team.. they thought it was superb and they have fantastic memories of our day to treasure forever (we even went to the stage door afterwards and met some of the cast who were great, and autographed their programmes) Two very happy girls! I really can't recommend this enough. We all want to see it again!
Absolutely loved the film and loved the show even more! So much fun, had the best time.
Very lively well choreographed enjoyable musical Well acted and well sung
Really enjoyed very colourful and very witty great take on one of my favourite films .
I enjoyed this production as an Indian and theatre enthusiast. However I would only recommend this production if you have seen the film and thoroughly enjoyed it. The interpretation of the way the story was set into a musical, was true to a typical musical format and the songs were also written/ performed in this way.
I recommend this show to everyone a lively fun and funny musical I don't know where the time went it was so enjoyable
absolutely brilliant I would recommend this musical to everyone it has that feel good factor and no one would leave disappointed
Excellent entertainment! A must see for all. Suitable for all ages.
Was really entertaining and funny. The actors were great to watch and the show was pumping with some fantastic music. Very well done!
