Wicked! We’re off to see the Wonderful Witches of Oz!
What’s Wicked about?
With the most spectacular staging you’ll ever witness in a theatre, Wicked will enchant, beguile and bewitch theatregoers of all ages; you won’t believe your eyes - which is why experiencing the spellbinding magic of Wicked just once is never enough.
WICKED, the West End and Broadway musical phenomenon, is already the 9th longest running musical in London theatre history and has been seen by over 10 million people in London alone. Winner of over 100 major awards, including three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and ten theatregoer-voted WhatsOnStage Awards (winning ‘Best West End Show’ on three separate occasions), the classic musical has now been seen by over 10 million people in London alone.
The show whisks us away to the breathtakingly beautiful (and completely re-imagined) land of Oz, where an unlikely friendship is blossoming between two Shiz University students, Glinda and Elphaba – one popular, pretty and into pink in a BIG way; the other magical, gifted and green. But it soon becomes clear that being the colour of a cabbage is the least of Elphaba’s problems - something bad is happening in Oz.
Wicked weaves an ingenious backstory – and a new destiny – for the most cherished characters from L. Frank Baum’s ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, as friendship is tested to the limit and powerful forces conspire to create sworn enemies of Glinda The Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Will good conquer evil, or might we discover that wickedness is not always what it seems?
‘Packed with wit, storming songs and beautiful costumes’ (The Guardian), Wicked has already clocked up over 5,500 performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, making it the 9th longest running musical in West End history. This unforgettable musical fantasy features showstopping music & lyrics by Grammy® and Academy® Award-winner Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Disney’s Pocahontas, Godspell) and stunning costumes by Tony® Award winner Susan Hilferty. Musical staging is by Tony® Award-winner Wayne Cilento with direction by double Tony® Award-winner Joe Mantello.
Wicked songs
Yes, the songs really are Wicked! There’s the hysterically funny Popular, the spectacular The Wizard and I and the show’s mega-hit, Defying Gravity, which literally brings the house down at every performance! Other songs include: Dancing Through Life, I’m Not That Girl, As Long as You’re Mine and the enchanting duet For Good.
Wicked Awards
Wicked has scooped over 100 major awards, including three Tony® Awards, two Olivier Awards and ten WhatsOnStage Awards (voted for by theatregoers) including the triple crown of three ‘Best West End Show’ statuettes.
Wickedly Weird Trivia
During the song Defying Gravity, composer Stephen Schwartz nods to the film The Wizard of Oz by using the 7 opening notes from “Somewhere over the Rainbow” (see if you can spot them in the lyric “unlimited/together we’re unlimited” from Defying Gravity). Idina Menzel, who played Elphaba for the show’s launch on both Broadway and London productions of Wicked also provided the vocals for Elsa in Disney’s Frozen.

Wicked reviews
Love this musical! I was suprised it turned to be soooo good. The story was told beautifully and the costumes were amazing. Higly recommended
Fabulous musical, I had no idea of the story, so I was totally in the dark about the plot. Easy purchase options, easy, quick access. Loved the show, the actors were genius. Well done everyone 👏
Not a singable song in the play and Almost walked out at intermission but saw it through. And felt worse for staying To bad a good morality story could not have been done better both in story and visuals
Drove from Blackpool was well worth it
Absolutely amazing!! Booking again!
Amazing performance from start to finish. Had an issue with one of my tickets, but box office resolved this within minutes. Excellent service, thank you!
Wicked is a long show with lots of singing and spectacular costumes. Lucie Jones was amazing! The sound dipped in parts and it was hard to understand some of the words. We we’re sat in the stalls restricted, it’s a side view and worth the money. The stall seats aren’t tiered and it maybe difficult to see if you have someone tall in front of you. Overall a great experience!
It was great - we all loved it.
Absolutely amazing cast was fabulous voices and performance was spectacular
Excellent show with quality performance all round. Unfortunately our experience was dampened by a selfish family sat directly behind who quite frankly didn’t have any regard for others around them - seat kicking and talking throughout the performance. What should have been a pleasurable 3 hours turned out to be quite stressful for myself and children.
We absolutely loved the show. It was amazing!
Singing was excellent talking was difficult to hear
