& Juliet – you Can’t Stop The Feeling!
What’s & Juliet about?
It’s the opening night of Romeo & Juliet. Shakespeare arrives like a megastar…but his wife, a spirited Anne Hathaway, is about to bring him down to earth with a bump! Realising Juliet can do a lot better than Romeo (and certainly shouldn’t kill herself for a man she’s only just met) Anne sets to work helping Juliet rewrite her story.
This irreverent, fun-loving new West End Musical asks, “What if Juliet’s ending was only the beginning?”. The show is packed full of the biggest pop anthems of the past 3 decades from internationally acclaimed songwriter Max Martin. They are cleverly woven around a brilliantly funny script by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), with direction by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights).
The Olivier Award nominated creative team includes choreographer Jennifer Weber, set designer Soutra Gilmour and sensational new arrangements by Tony and Grammy Award-winner Bill Sherman to mega-hits from Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time to Katy Perry’s Roar!
This is Juliet as you’ve never seen her before. Fun, feisty and fearless. Think ‘Shakespeare in Love’ meets ‘MTV’ and you’re pretty much there! The show is a riotous blast of comedy set to a glorious pop soundtrack. You’ll never have more fun on a night out in the West End!
& Juliet songs
& Juliet features over two dozen of Max Martin’s global hits, including Larger than Life, I Want It That Way, …Baby One More Time, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely, Domino, Show Me Love, Blow, I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman, Overprotected, Confident, Teenage Dream, Break Free, Oops!... I Did It Again, I Kissed a Girl, It’s My Life, Love Me Like You Do, Since U Been Gone, Whataya Want From Me, One More Try, Problem, Can’t Feel My Face, That’s the Way It Is, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), As Long as You Love Me, It’s Gonna Be Me, Shape of My Heart, Stronger, F***in’ Perfect, Roar and Can’t Stop The Feeling!
& Juliet awards
& Juliet is one of the most nominated shows ever at the Olivier Awards, the most prestigious global awards in Theatre. The show won in three categories, for stars Miriam-Teak Lee, David Bedella and Cassidy Janson. The show was also nominated for four Mousetrap Awards including Best Musical and won six WhatsOnStage Awards.
Five things you might not know about Max Martin
His songs may be Larger Than Life, but Max Martin is actually a lot happier away from the limelight. Here are five fascinating Max Martin facts about this humble superstar:
1. Max Martin has written (or co-written) 23 Billboard Hot 100 number 1 songs.
2. Only two songwriters have any more #1 hits – and they happen to be Paul McCartney and John Lennon…Max is catching up with John fast.
3. Max has been voted ASCAP (Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Songwriter of the Year a record 11 times.
4. Most songwriters play keyboards, but Max Martin got started by playing French Horn! Max credits Sweden’s public music education program with giving him the best start in life.
5. As a teenager, Max fronted a glam-metal band called ‘It’s Alive’!

We loved the show, the contemporary dancing music and the staging was amazing. We loved how each member of the ensemble cast had their own individual identity but were part of a team.

Quite amusing, lighthearted fun. Some serious messaging but not to be taken too seriously. Maybe not the strongest cast performing at The West End at the moment.

I went to see the show third times - as I just can't stop the feeling! (LoL) Truly amazing cast and the music... I sang along from the first moment till the last, bringing the booze to my veins; wish to jump up to dance. If you know the story of Romeo & Juliet, this is definitely NOT that one! :) Very-very highly recommended and a virtual high five for all of those who are contributed to this amazing performance. Definitely will be back to see even fourth times! :)

Had been meaning to take my 16 year old grand daughter to see this musical for a while and finally got the best tickets and went yesterday! It was action, dance, current songs, acting, an incorporation of a beautiful mix of races and gender, into the story of love…old love, new love, illicit love, same sex love.. an all tongue in cheek twist to an old love story revisited. Costumes were beautiful, great imagination between modern, and period!! But most of all a highly talented, all singing, dancing and acting bunch of individuals. But Miriam sold it for us… such a powerhouse of talent! Highly recommended viewing!! And my grand daughter thoroughly enjoyed the show too!

We had a fabulous time. Juliet was played by her understudy, but she was wonderful too. My 8yr old struggled to follow the plot, but loved the singing and dancing and knew most of the songs so sang along too. She was up on her feet at the final number clapping away. My 12 yr old did follow the modern, thought provoking and very funny plot and thought it was fabulous. Only word of warning to parents, there is a little swearing, (under 10 words), but if that horrifies you, best to know before you book. My 8yr old was pretty oblivious as they’re mainly sung, save once. And a quick “don’t use that word at home, let’s go buy ice cream” solved the problem. I would still recommend, and both my girls preferred it to Matilda (which was awesome!), so that says everything.

Was brilliant, Super, Fantastic, loved it from the very beginning Loved that i knew pretty much every song so could have a real good sing along. Was disappointed when it was over. Nothing bad to say other than it should have gone on for longer. Will 10000% go again.

Thus is the second time my wife and I have seen this show. We bought our 13 year old son to watch it this time too and he said it is the best theatre show he has seen (he has been to a fair few). Such a feel good show that I would definitely recommend to everyone no matter what their age.

We absolutely loved ‘& Juliet’! Each and every single performer was excellent and gave the audience 100%! Everyone should come away totally buzzing and happy after watching this!

The production was absolutely amazing, the cast were all amazing, songs were great fun. It was queer brilliance! It was so nice to see myself and my children represented in the characters. It was inclusive, forward thinking and it was great to see Folx wearing binders and discussing hard topics in accessible ways. A brilliant family show!

I hadn’t looked much into this show so didn’t really know what to expect but I was quite pleasantly surprised! Normally I wouldn’t be into musicals that include Britney songs, Backstreet Boys songs and so on but the way they used these songs were clever! And the singing was amazing! The stage and outfits were fun and vibrant and the cast interacted with the audience, encouraging them to join in at the end. Would highly recommend anyone who is into girl power, sass and the modern day of living to watch this.
