Winner of 5 Olivier Awards, including 'Best New Play', Life of Pi is based on one of the most extraordinary and best-loved works of fiction – the smash hit adaptation of an epic journey of endurance and hope.

After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, there are five survivors stranded on a lifeboat - a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a Royal Bengal tiger, and a sixteen year-old boy named Pi. Time is against them, nature is harsh, who will survive?

Long after the curtain falls, “Life of Pi will make you believe in the power of theatre” (The Times).

Unlike the others in my party, I’d not seen the movie, and had given up several times for n reading the book. I had no idea what to expect, and with a lifetime of prejudice against magic realism and anything hinting at the supernatural, I wasn’t really looking forward to the show that much. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The restructuring of the narrative, interspersing chunks of interview with the accident investigator, seemed to me a great improvement on the structure of the original book. The puppetry was amazing and believable and utterly charming. There wasn’t any aspect that was anything less than excellent, and the Pi character was perhaps the finest acting I’ve experienced. At the end, I shared his tears.

I booked this show as realised it finishes next week so was keen to see it. Really well acted and the animal puppetry was incredible. Magical experience.
