Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience (Leicester) reviews
Wonderful exhibition. Well worth the money. Learned a lot, enjoyed the visual experiences and colouring our own paintings and having them put on the large screen. The best bit was the virtual reality, was absolutely amazing. Great way to spend a Saturday morning
We were very impressed by the exhibition, which brought a whole new perspective to the otherwise pretty well known life and works of Van Gogh. A pleasant venue (although a pity there was no coffee shop) with easy parking at the John Lewis car park 3 minutes away.
Really enjoyed this experience well worth a visit.
Excellent experience, very informative, very relaxing.
Amazing, really enjoyed it.
Me and my partner both enjoyed the experience, we both enjoy exploring art and culture, it was informative and creative. There is something for everyone to do. However, a warning to anyone who suffers from motion sickness, the immersive experience and VR experience caused me to feel quite sick :/
We loved this unique way of experiencing and learning about Van Gogh, his work and his life. It was amazing, bringing to all to life. We were there about 2 hours and enjoyed every minute.
Excellent presentation immensely informative and very good value for money
Fascinating exhibition. Very interesting facts about Van Gogh. The immersive experience brings the paintings to life in a relaxed atmosphere and the optional VR is well worth the entry fee.
A totally wonderful experience and perfectly put together. Educational and enlightening. The modern technology enhances Van Gogh’s work, bringing it to life in a complimentary way making your involvement as a viewer emotive and not in anyway passive. The venue was the perfect choice linking the artist history and beliefs while being perfectly aesthetic.
Much effort has been made to cover Van Gogh's life story and make his art enjoyable. However Leicester venue was small and although cozy in the main hall people were getting in each others way and walking through the seated arena which was distracting to say the least.
Very good experience had a great time with 2 10 year olds and my friend staff were very pleasant and helpful and it was a very relaxing experience
Didn't know what to expect but found this experience so different to any exhibition I've been to before. I learnt a few more facts about Vincent Van Gogh too. Overall I really enjoyed the unexpected experience and am thinking about re-visiting.
The main room was brilliant! If there had been two more smaller rooms similar to the main one it would have been 5 stars. Personally I think the ticket price was a bit too expensive for what you get. Especially as the VR experience room is an extra £3 on top of your ticket.
Informative, creative and money well spent! Beginning with the walk through and background information. Visit the ‘bedroom’ and then into the large seating area where you relax and let his work ‘wash’ over you. Don’t miss out on immersing yourself in his works of art, treat yourself to the virtual experience……..WOW!
Very nice experience
Enjoyed looking at Van Gogh's work in a completely different way. Inspired me to go and see his work for real again.
A really positive experience. Really enjoyed the presentations. They are very well and imaginatively put together. The VR is a must - absolutely brilliant experience and must be the way things will go with this type of exhibition. Very much recommended.
Most interesting experience with wonderful imaging. Enjoyed seeing his life expressed in this way. Realised the brilliance pf his work. However, I thought that the imaging in the main body of the church was a bit longwinded. Overall, Brilliant!
My 5 year old grandson loved it.
Wow, what a journey. Highly recommended, including the VR experience.
Absolutely fantastic. Celebration. Of Van Gogh and technology
The experience was excellent. However, I'm a powered wheelchair user & the pavements around the venue were simply awful. I would not go back. In fact, I'd probably avoid inner Leicester.
The immersive experience was wonderful and the 3D thing well worth the extra
I don't usually leave reviews but I have to say that this is one of the best things I've been to see in a long time. Educationally interesting but also entertaining and quite moving in places. Having gone with my daughter I intend going again with my wife but either way, if not, I'll go again on my own before it finishes.
Amazing experiencing. Educational. I don't think my kids will forget Van Gogh anytime soon
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, loved the VR too
After hearing good things about the exhibition & being in Leicester for the weekend, i booked a ticket and I'm so glad I did. The entire experience was excellent and informative mixing the artwork with technology to create a vision that is honestly beautiful. Being set in an church added to the atmosphere and to spend time watching the animation & listening to the music was lovely. Also, don't be tempted to skip on the VR experience afterwards - it was incredible too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Visited the Van Gogh Immersive experience at All Saints Church Leicester. I was looking forward to this visit and knew what to expect through watching clips on YouTube, but was absolutely blown away by the actual experience. To call it “Immersive” is spot on!Its a rollercoaster of colour explosions and music which meet and leave you breathless. I wanted to do it all again immediately and am already planning on a return trip but to a different venue.Fabulous experience 👍😍
From the minute we entered the building, we were made to feel welcome and valued. The exhibition was informative and interesting and the immersive experience was utterly fascinating. Following this we elected to have the VR experience and this made Van Gogh's work come alive - well worth the extra. All in all - brilliant!
This experience was amazing. Totally worth going to. Absolutely loved all the art and how it feels like you really are in the picture.
The main experience was beautiful to watch, unexpected and totally relaxing. The VR experience was amazing and truly brought to life the inspiration for Van Goghs paintings. Would highly recommend a visit.
Sitting in a deckchair in the main church hall with a moving display all round us was excellent. We paid the extra £3 for the VR experience and once again we were not disappointed. Well done all involved
I totally different way to view the artist. surprised that there was no queue.
An excellent exhibition which allows you to step inside both Van Gogh’s art and his mind. Thought provoking and stimulating.
Informative information about van gogh. The immersive experience was really good, and the VR experience was fantastic. I am so glad I visited, and certainly recommend the experience
Absolutely brilliant. Very well done. Learnt a lot and being immersed was so different.
It was superb. VCR was the icing on the cake
So pleased that I finally visited the Van Gogh experience. The information in the first room sets the seen for a truly stunning experience, bringing Van Goghs work to life. Being set in the old church just adds to the overall affect. Don't miss out on the VR experience, it is truly wonderful.
My second visit and as absorbing as ever. Would go again.
Wow what an experience, it blew us away and we came out speechless. Wasn’t sure if enjoy it but the emotions it stirred was outstanding. I would recommend everyone goes to experience this.
Really really enjoyed all of the exhibits, very tasteful and well done. Absolutely amazing and everyone behind the scenes deserves 100% credit for their work. I have already recommended it to everybody I have spoken, and may even return again :)
A fantastic way to enjoy some of Van Gogh's work. Sitting in the room with walls and floors covered in moving Van Gogh paintings was brilliant. The optional video using VR was very special
Great balance between learning about and enjoying his paintings, truly immersive and well worth seeing.
A great experience as long as you are prepared to ‘soak it up’. Don’t whizz through looking for the next bit. Stroll, stand, sit, lie down, relax and absorb it. I even did my first wax crayon picture for several decades 😂 The highlight for me was the Virtual Reality journey, well worth the extra £3. But all three of us loved the whole experience. I’m mid sixties, son is thirty something and grandson is six. Something for everyone.
So much better than I thought to be honest. Well worth a visit.
I adored this experience, I am a massive Van gogh from so travelled from Notts to see this. My 12 year old sister enjoyed it too! The VR is so worth the extra
Wonderful experience in Van Gogh Leicester. The children really engaged and a great menu of interactive, digital and analogue choices. 😍
The immersive Van Gogh experience was very cleverly executed and all my family enjoyed it (including hard to please teenagers!). A toddler running around screaming detracted form the ambience a little unfortunately. The VR headset experience was brilliant but a little surprised it wasn’t part of the admission cost. The church provided an unusual and atmospheric setting.
Wonderful use of space and various mediums to tell the story of a talented troubled man, well worth the visit and could tell others of all ages enjoying the event
