With poetic precision, rich humour and an extraordinary emotional force, Betrayal charts a compelling seven-year romance, thrillingly captured in reverse chronological order. Described as “the greatest, and the most moving, of all Pinter’s plays” (Daily Telegraph), this production marks the culmination of the Jamie Lloyd Company’s ground-breaking Pinter at the Pinter season.

From my seat in the Royal Circle I could hardly see the actors,!especially when they were in the front. I hardly heard a word that Tom Huddleston said, as he spoke so low. The lady spoke her lines well and was very Pinterish, as was her partner. A great disappointment. especially after such great reviews.

My wife and I went to see Betrayal this week and were very disappointed. It's the first Pinter play we have seen so it may be that we weren't aware of his style of writing. However we felt that the continuous use of the same lines over and again lacked a bit of imagination. And what about those long dramatic breaks with no talking, what's that all about? I honestly believed on more than one occasion that the cast had forgotten the script and were waiting for an off stage prompt. To me it was long and drawn out and not designed to hold your attention. I note that there was no interval, was that to stop people leaving at half time?

very shallow thematic and self indulgent. character depth was lacking and just came across as crass and overly emotional without the right having been earned... would have left if not for being stuck in the middle. no doubt. very good actors but story was very lacking.. how this received the reviews it did I dont know...

This was theatre at its best. All three main characters were brilliant. The atmosphere was charged, dialogue was delivered to perfection with lots of pregnant pauses. Funny, sharp, bitter, tender - it had the lot and was a hugely enjoyable performance. The set was bare - the revolving floor with a couple of chairs and the odd table providing a whole range of settings.

Sadly the tensions between the protagonists,so crucial to the unfolding drama, were barely manifest in this production. Flat, at times almost wooden, scuttling through their lines the actors disasterously failed to bring these crucial between the lines nuances to the fore. On leaving I overhead one man said to his friends..."That wasnt much of a story line, was it?" And if you werent familiar with previous productions or the film I think that was an entirely understandable response. A real disappoitment.
